Let it be known that civilian Golden has INSANE instincts at catching mafia, so I'm inclined to heavily consider his suspicion of Epi and re-evaluate my thoughts on him when conducting an ISO. I may not change my mind, but I do think this should be noted.
Golden, any other last words, assuming you do get lynched?
I thought I'd made that clear.

Elo is a really good bet for a lynch, honestly.
Anyway, interesting that there was a sudden push to make sure I was lynched by two very savvy players who had not really suspected me at all.
You could do Elo first, Epi second, that would be ok.

Re: Death and Taxes: An Economics Mafia [DAY 1]
And for my final final words, I will say.
This is the most ludicrous day one lynch on me I've ever seen, and I've seen some.
The number of people who provided any actual suspicion of me or discussion of me before voting for me numbers one. DDL. You could say Elo did, but it was very sudden and late.
It would be nice to be able to survive beyond day three, eh? No forgiveness for the marmot. NEVER. You can take my life, but you can never take my freedom to hound the marmot to the end of his days! (But I think he is probably civ).

Re: Death and Taxes: An Economics Mafia [DAY 1]
I am just about the easiest person to get lynched here, particularly early in the game.Sloonei wrote:care to elaborate on this thought?MovingPictures07 wrote:I am really starting to think this as well; the effort to get heat on me was a 100% coordinated manipulation between the both of them.Golden wrote:I think epi and elo are in it together
Epi knows that he would eventually get me to react emotionally if he pushed me hard enough with the weakest possible logic. He knows it's my weak point.
Then if you consider how Elo has handled herself... check this out:
First on-topic post.Elohcin wrote:I see that DDL thinks all those who've been posting tonight look like town. I disagree, but not only that, I highly doubt that none of the mafia are talking. I just can't see that being the case. Honestly, I see MP's over-helpful behavior as suspicious. I know we have a lot of new players and he wants to be helpful, but there's just something fishy about it.
Then this, continuing heat on me.Elohcin wrote:I tried to elaborate in my first post but I just can't seem to put my finger on it. It just doesn't seem like MP behavior. I've seen his baddie game as a teammate and not as a teammate. I've seen his civ game as well. I am not saying I am even up to 80% sure he is bad, but I do know his behavior seems odd to me and I will be watching him as this game progresses. As for the rest of you who are talking a lot, this is my first game with you. I am going to need more hard core evidence (like voting records) before I convince myself one of you are bad.Sloonei wrote:Is this "something fishy" something you could elaborate on, or is it nothing more than an inkling at the moment?Elohcin wrote:I see that DDL thinks all those who've been posting tonight look like town. Linki: MP, you do talk everything to death, yesBut I've never seen you so helpful and supportive of other players. You are kind of a selfish player, does that make sense? Now, not as selfish a player as Epi
, but still. The only thing holding me back from really thinking you are bad is the fact that there are a lot of new players and maybe that has changed your play a bit. I have a question for you....and you might not be able to answer with the sock game going on, but.....I know you took a bit of a sabbatical from Mafia. Is this your first game back in a while?
Good night the LINKI. I think Jay may be done for
Then this, backing off after I continued to engage her. She continues to say NOTHING about any other players until:Elohcin wrote:alright....bedtime for me. I am hoping I don't have 10 pages to catch up on when I wake up
linki: he had to answer every question that any of the new-to-the-syndicates asked - even the ones directly asked to the hosts.
linki with MP. I like your answersThey do make me feel better. When I said I couldn't put my finger on it, its b/c I felt it could go either way. You seem to be a much more cheerful player and that scared me a bit,
sorry. But I thought, maybe it's just b/c we have new players. But then I remembered that you took some time away from Mafia (or now I know you took time away from the syndicate) and I thought....maybe his supportive, helpful, cheerful behavior can be explained by him being excited to be back playing again. And, I think that must be it. When I called you a selfish player I didn't mean anything mean by it
Thank you for not finding offense. You're a stand-up dude. For example, I would say Epi is a selfish player. He will act as he wishes no mater what others think. You were like that too imo, just not AS selfish as Epi. Does that make sense?
NOW, I am off to bed.
AHH, linki linki linki. Hey G, you know peewee is on netflix? Haha, my kids find it pretty hilarious
http://www.mafiathesyndicate.com/viewto ... 81#p143081
I linked this post instead of quoting it since it's so long; it contains the post that sanmateo just brought up where she suddenly names a bunch of players as leaning civ and not sure, without any backing whatsoever.
THEN, after Epi starts pursuing me aggressively, she ramps up heat on me subtly again by saying this:
Which is the post that put me over the edge. Epi would know that his case convincing someone else would be exactly what is needed to push me over the edge.Elohcin wrote:
Maybe the "new MP" is the kind of player that unreservedly defends his partners on day 1 instead of throwing them under the bus on day 1 like he used to
I have seen Epi catch people on timing issues/RL lies before. I have seen players lie to me about RL issues and lie to the thread about RL issues. IN BTSC in other games, I have been encouraged to lie about RL issues in order to make myself appear more civ. I do think that is wrong. Unlike Epi, I will bring up RL. I can't separate it so easily. I love my family, my kids, and I want to share them with whoever will care to listen. BUT, I will not lie about them or my RL issues in order to appear more civ. Okay...off my soap box. So I do think Epi could be on to something. And b/c of that, maybe I was onto something too with MP's cheerful attitude. Maybe he was very excited to be a baddie in his first game back on the syndicate
In fact, I don't want to get ahead of myself, but if I drop my genuine read of DDL and consider he could be fabricating it all, I could easily see an Epi/Elo/DDL team. But that's all very speculative and based on the way Epi and DDL interacted with each other.
If you take away the conspiracy theories, Elo's behavior looks terribly damning, and Epi's is characteristically baddie-like. Assuming Golden flips civ, I definitely agree with the strategy to lynch Elo D2 and follow it up with Epi.

for me it stemmed mostly from your first couple posts where it seemed like you were just hopping into the game by picking up on an easy point about MP's "different" behavior, but I've not elaborated much on it since then.Elohcin wrote:And still, can someone please tell me WHY you want to lynch me? Re: Death and Taxes: An Economics Mafia [DAY 1]
In fact, Elo's train of thought is one of the most lack transparent I've ever seen. It can be characteristic for her, and I mislynched her like the first three games we played together, but I'm feeling pretty confident now that occam's razor explanation suggests that she has been fabricating her thoughts.

Fun fact: there were 928 posts in Day 0/1 of Death Note Mafia.

The answer: all of them, if you are a marmot.

Re: Death and Taxes: An Economics Mafia [DAY 1]
Elo, are you serious?
You said "leaning civ" on Golden, without backing it up.
You voiced suspicions of ONLY me. It's true, I just looked through your posts. The closest you got with anyone else was "not sure". Then suddenly, you come in, after my emotional breakdown, and say that the emotional breakdown does NOT bode well for me, but for some unexplained reason you are giving me the BotD so that I can cool off, even though I visibly have cooled off for quite some time. Then you vote Golden for no explanation.
And you're trying to argue that you don't look bad?

One fact that may be useful: Epi's vote on Golden was cast less than 10 seconds after mine. There were two votes there when I clicked the button, and there were four when the page loaded. So he did not bandwagon on my vote, though it's still perfectly possible that he anticipated my vote, or that he bandwagoned on the previous two votes.
Just some thoughts.

I'm sort of hoping for a miracle, although that seems more like something that would happen in Biblical Mafia.

Re: Death and Taxes: An Economics Mafia [DAY 1]

Day 1
If you had asked a bystander, they'd likely have told you that they expected gifted academics to be very reserved. The smart money would have been on a quiet Day 1, with some discussion but plenty of room for introspection.
The actual course of events could not have been further from the truth. Having made their introductions on Day 0, the economists awoke on Day 1 with many thoughts in their minds and one collective drive: make sure that as many people could hear their brilliant ideas as possible. What was expected to be a measured talk quickly devolved into a shouting match, and by day's end the rising cacophony could even be heard outside of the cavernous Hague, to the mild alarm of some passersby and the titillation of a gaggle of reporters. Many of the group called for more data, hoping that the more they could learn, the better they could stop the impending economic meltdown.
Two of the members even engaged in fisticuffs. Epignosis grabbed MovingPictures07 around the neck and tugged on his hair, shouting "IT'S A FAKE! THIS MAN IS A FRAUD!" MovingPictures cursed and snarled and even bit. Eventually the other men pulled them apart, but this did not signal a reprieve for the aural onslaught.
Another thing that an uninformed person may have bet on is that, in a room full of people concerned with economic welfare, a name like Golden would be worth its weight in gold. The uninformed person would be wrong there, too. As sunset approached, dissatisfaction with the lack of results in the "discussion" set in. Some members of the group decided that Golden needed to go, and so they banded together and chucked him out the window. This would have been fine for Golden if he had been on there first floor at the time; however, he was on the 3rd.
The passersby, who had been mildly alarmed, began to shriek when they saw his mangled corpse lying in a pool of blood. The Dutch considered, as they contemplated his name and now-stained blonde hair, that "throwing out the gold" was a very inauspicious sign for things to come.
Golden has been lynched. He was F. A. Hayek.
It is now Night 1. You have 24 hours to send in your PMs.

Re: Death and Taxes: An Economics Mafia [DAY 1]
Announcements
1. I will be away this weekend, in Boston. My cohost thellama73 has agreed to handle my post-writing duties while I am away. He will be making the host post tomorrow evening, when Night 1 ends, and the Day 2 post on Sunday evening. I will be back Monday to write the Night 2 post. In my absence, please continue to direct PMs to both thellama73 and me.
2. Effective immediately, Vomps is replacing Dom. He may not be NKed tonight, nor lynched tomorrow.
3. After further consideration, I have decided that revealing previous roles (from the first round of role PMs) is permanently disallowed. The game was designed to be balanced with the information that was available independent of this change, and making these roles public leaves open another avenue for deception for baddies, which could in theory unbalance the game. Revealing what role you originally had will be considered tantamount to revealing your current role, and will be cause for punishment up to and including modkill.
That's all for now! I hope you all are enjoying the game so far, and I will see you in a couple days!
