That post felt like you were inviting somebody to make a case against Eloh so you could better justify putting your vote back without having to push the case yourself. It's in the same vein as that Epi post I took issue with D1.

(That's both the benefit and drawback of playing with people you don't know... you may notice behaviors/tells those familiar with them may not, but you also may misinterpret things others have learned already.)

I'm a bit iffy on Jay and Bob right now (hey, those are movie characters) Jay needs the benefit of doubt right now, given that he seemed to just thrust himself into the thread late in the day today and had to make reads on the fly, but that wasn't his best end of day performance. I didn't get the sense that cbob was really trying to figure anything out at the end there. He parked his vote on me and was just waving it in my face.

What happened in the one minute between these two posts?
Why was it important to mention that your posts would validate your vote?

1. I looked to see who the tied lynch was. I was posting with the intent to beat the lynch post, because missed-vote posts after the lynch are tainted. I knew it was tied, I knew it was Sloonei, and I suspected it was Jack, but wasn't really sure. So, I went to check to make sure I was at least fully informed of the lynch result.

2. I started by just typing the first sentence, that I would have voted for Jack, and then I thought of whether or not people would believe that or if it would look sketchy, and then I recalled that I had specifically said a Jack vote was one of my top three or four likelies, and that I had also stated I thought Sloonei was Civ. Better to let the past speak for me, than my own sputtering apology of a non-vote.

I'm voting for Jack. Been having a bad feeling about him for a while, although it's hard to describe. I pointed out some posts that pinged me more, the rest is just gut.

LC gives me a bad gut feeling too, though it's weaker.

My greatest weakness as a townie is my difficulty distinguishing townies who are lazy/unable to put their reads into words and baddies.

Convince me you're a townie who is wrong and unable to put his reads into words and not a scummer who is lying.

My current stance of scumhunting is that 99% of all scumhunting methods are snake oil.

I'll not give a long and elaborated analysis on you because I don't have one. Neither I intend to do a long and complicated ISO on you that will ultimately fuel my confirmation bias and make me suspect you more. I've lynched too many civs after ISOing them and concluding they were bad. I'll go by what gave me the feeling of you being bad, which is good enough. For now. Maybe.

This part is antitown and doesn't feel DDLish. Scumhunting methods are for suckers? You're a better player than that.

So what's going on? I don't know that you're bad but I know you aren't acting like I expect DDL to act so I'm not sure exactly what to do with that.

May I ask you where all that negativity comes from? Are you feeling bad about how the civs are acting in this game?

Not at all. I've been super stressed out at work, basically. I'm doing four jobs: my current job, my old job, my lazy coworker's old job because management shoved her stuff onto me when she missed all her deadlines by like 200 days (not an exaggeration, literally over 200 days) and finally, on the day of my biggest deadline, my two jobs ago job. I asked my boss to talk to her boss and get me to only do 3 jobs. She did but forgot to mention he said no so I got shit for not doing the fourth job and then further shit for being "unprofessional" aka saying I don't have time to do other people's jobs on the eve of a big deadline. Then I worked three ten hour days and won't get overtime pay cause the company just changed the overtime policy regarding weeks with holidays. But whatever. I have a lot to be thankful for, career wise and otherwise. The four day weekend should mellow me out, too.

I actually think the civvies are doing a great job this game, at least for the first 24 pages. I don't ususally have this many town reads, let alone without a flip.

I don't love it. He pretty clearly misinterpreted the "3 civs" thing, per your previous statement. Whether that's on purpose or just as a defense, who knows.

That said, I think LC's take against Epi was pretty weak. It's Day 1, saying you won't vote for somebody today is a viable way of narrowing the lynch pool as a way of getting into the game. He did pick two new (to the Syndicate) players, so maybe he's a scum hoping a new player latches on to it? Idk, seems weak.

All that said though I'm not interested in narrowing the focus just to the two of them just yet. I actually like Sloonei's line of questioning - let's hear actual thoughts Kyle.

As for the cbob and mesk no-vote posts... they're empty filler. Neither of them are in any way real or substantial gameplay. There was nothing about mesk's "dirt" comment that should lead to any alignment decisions. IF you really feel the need to read into it, it indicates a general ignorance or the game structure, which doesn't show as good or bad. And I don't feel like it was even that. Does anyone disagree with this?

Yeah. There's at least as much content there as the Daisy guilt thing. Not gonna argue about my joke though.

I was saying that Epi's alignment conclusions about mesk, based on the "dirt" post, are not legit because the logic isn't there... you are comparing it to the Daisy guilt thing, but I can't figure out what you mean by your wording.

You said Epi's read of mesk was not legit because there wasn't anything in that post to get a read off of but didn't say something similar about the Spacedaisy votes because she said sorry she checked in and that apparently meant she felt guilty for being mafia. So I would like you to address that discrepancy.

This is closer to a real justification, but it feels like a reach. He's faulting LC for not pursuing an unrelated topic in the same manner he was pursuing Epi. The answer is tunnel vision. If this is the basis for cbob's vote, I'm not buying it. He would repeatedly cite LC's lack of an answer to this question as a reason for suspicion. I'm still not in love with this.

What do people think about Sloonei? GTH's, cases, whatever.

Lean town. From what little exposure I have seems like town Sloonei, I like the questions and prodding people. Not enough reads or firm statements that I recall to make me really solidify the town read though.

Here's my fall from grace! That's the extent of it, from what I can tell. I may be biased, but this seems a bit weak for the firm 180 bob pulled on me. We've established that I'm loose with my votes, have we not? Why is it far-fetched for me to move it off and on Eloh here? That's, like, what I do? And furthermore, why is this even a suspicious thing? What's the scum mindset behind me making these two posts about Elohcin back-to-back like that? This might be the most opportunistic vote in the game. Eloh and Epi were both on me at this time. Bob's vote #3, a good placement to lock me in as a lynch candidate without sending me straight to the gallows. This vote stinks. He followed it up with this, which I've already questioned him on because idgi. What do those words mean?

Elohcin's rainbow and dialogue with Sloonei

Sloonei's questions here were reasonable -- Elohcin voiced in vague terms that the high posters seem civ and that she'd be willing to vote for a low poster. The contents of the rainbow list don't align with that much. A change of heart is fine, but I don't know if that's even what happened in Eloh's head -- the progression is unclear. The names in the rainbow almost appear randomized. I'm surprised to see myself rated well given my own slow start, and I have no idea why Mesk is so high. I don't know why the low posters are split between yellow and orange. I don't know why the high posters Sloonei and Quin are orange. When given an opportunity to expand on these things, she just said "relax" and restated the general purpose of a rainbow list.

@Elohcin, you need to talk more about what's going on there.

This was where I started to doubt Bob in real time. This is a wonky line of questioning. Bogus line of inquiry. He's voting for me because I'm considering voting for Elohcin, then turning around to criticize me for not voting Elohcin. Nope. I want people to talk about Elohcin, as well as all the other suspects I name. That's why I name them, and it's why I might be accused of casting weak reads and being soft. Because, especially early in games, I'm more interested in gauging reaction than I am presenting a formal case. Once I have a solid read I'll put it in the thread, but it takes time to reach that point. I invite anyone and everyone to bring reasons to vote for Elohcin to the table. That's how the game works. I wasn't trying to weasel my way into a vote for her or anything like that.

I also guess that my "Epi behavior from Day 1" was that fence-sitting comment you made wayyyy back in the beginning of time. I completely disregarded that as a serious suspicion because it was so early and you seemed to have abandoned it and come around to read me as town.
