Once we have the hatchet, we can take as many guesses as we like up to completing the grid. We could even agree a plan where two people make one post each to do the rat of the grid. Because our guesses will end as soon as we find the pot. We would just need to agree an approach.

1x1 could be anywhere. I am fine with random guesses. If you think it's next to something, that can be your random guess. Or, use your own logic. We can't know what they would have done.
