Huh. Well then I had three of the five Heathens pegged and just got really lucky with you because I never believed you were silenced.S~V~S wrote:@Epi, how DID all those people get silenced Night 1? Four, I think?
Linki~
But I really was silenced.
Dom, please tell me- what did I do to amaze you? Or are referring to Golden and my BTSC efforts?Dom wrote: G-Man and Golden-- you always amaze me, Bravo!
Also, I've been trying to figure out where I know you from before because you feel so familiar to me. Which of the following did we play together at: Lostpedia, The Piano, SpoilerTV?
I don't see your name in any of my past game spreadsheets but I'm finding that I wasn't very good at keeping record of all my past exploits.
I didn't want to take my Balaam game over to Econ even though it would have been much easier for me to do so. I can see why my decision not to contributed to you thinking I was bad. I committed to that picture thing and I was sticking with it doggone it! Besides, I was honestly hoping to avoid being Mr. Overanalytical like I was back in the day on The Piano. I guess old habits die hard! Besides, I try to play differently every game. At least that's how I rolled back in my STV days.MovingPictures07 wrote:See, that's what I figured, but then even after your death in here, you weren't your Balaam overanalytical self in Econ, and it kept throwing me off. That's why I waited so long (until D4) to really go after you for it.G-Man wrote:MovingPictures07 wrote:I knew it was you around Day 2 or so. I loved your Dear Living Players posts and I'm fortunate you gave this game your all. You really played an outstanding game. One of the most inspired civilian games I've seen in recent memory. My level of involvement in this game was a major factor into my decision to post in pictures in the Econ game. I would have been overextended to the max!MovingPictures07 wrote:G-Man:

Oh wow. Elo thought I rocked the Bible game? No. I may have married a pastor's daughter, but I don't know my Bible well enough to win a trivia game. Besides, I was busy with RL plans when both games happened.MovingPictures07 wrote:Ah, that's a good guess actually, I didn't really think of a G-Man possibility.S~V~S wrote:Now, Esther/Eloh thought it was G Man.MovingPictures07 wrote:I knew it!Golden wrote:ME!juliets wrote:who was Amor in the first Bible jeopardy? Only you or Daisy could perform that well on Bible questions.
Golden, the Coward - it was fun having BTSC with you! We rocked it pretty well. I really think we balanced each other out pretty well in our chat. You're much more even keel than I am. I spent half the game mired in paranoia and you just seemed to brush it off. Thanks for listening to my many theories and rants. I'm glad you only took my advice on most of the ones that turned out to be right.Golden wrote:G-Man!!! My buddy was G-Man!
How ridiculously appropriate is that, given economics.
G-Man, it was so great to get to play with you. And I can't believe you didn't rat me out in economics when I accidentally logged into our chat room as golden. I must have covered that one well.
I didn't see any need to mention your accidental outing to the Econ hosts. You unsocked yourself for Biblical but you didn't post anything that gave away your identity in Econ. I didn't even think it could have meant you got your BTSC chats mixed up too. I guess I'm a little dense like that. Did you notice when I accidentally logged in as Marx before the Econ reset?
That was so clutch. I'm pretty sure you guys would have lynched me on Day 6 had I been on that poll. Good thing Golden and I were tight.Golden wrote:I got to pick one to take off, naturally I picked him.Ricochet wrote:Thanks a LOT for the day off. Did Balaam also get off the poll because he was your BTSC teamie, then?Golden wrote:ME!juliets wrote:who was Amor in the first Bible jeopardy? Was it nutella?
I didn't sign up for Bible trivias knowing I'd suck ass. Then I lurked as spectator during the second one, Epig revealed it wouldn't be actual Bible stuff, but Bible allusions in art stuff, so when Samson didn't show up, I jumped in and then also won.
Golden wrote:Also can I say - G-Man deserved every bit of this win and I'm sorry he couldn't share in it.
He continued to provide me with advice and technicolour lists long after he died.
The effort he was putting in to this at the same time as economics was immense.
I'm okay with not getting a winner's badge for this game. Honestly, I am just so glad that you got the win after all the extra technicolor lists I made for you. I still feel like a winner because of it.

It wasn't. It was always going to Rahab. When I did the analysis the day before I figured it had to be Rahab/Esther, it was the only thing that made sense. BUT, with the death of Lazarus, I wanted to sound unsure enough to survive lol.

You can definitely win without compromising your meta, but I agree with MP that seeing your team win in part because of your own effort is better than winning without any effort anyway.

At the time it happened, I thought you were silenced Cain. Part of why I was defending Cain hard was that I thought being lynched while silenced is exactly the kind of thing that would happen to SVS. It's also where I began to think Absalom was war, and certainly didn't have our best interests at heart.S~V~S wrote:That was frustrating; I was totally not lying about being silenced, but was acutely aware of how it could be construed that way. Re: Biblical Mafia [ENDGAME]
And having wrapped that all up...
Thanks, Epi, for what was yet another epic game (this time, literally). I really enjoyed it. I got a buddy, I got a contest right up my street, and I got to survive. It's like my ultimate combo. I wish more people had been louder, but it certainly made for easier endgame analysis that they weren't And frankly, there were times when the sedate pace of this game kept me sane while I was desperately trying to thread the needle in Economics. I'm pleased to have played so many Epi games already, long may it continue.
The last time I played a sock game was my first ever game on Rev Mafia, and it was the first time I ever really played a good civ game and I died for it, but felt awesome at how much I had contributed. I'm sure I'll forget people who contributed but honestly llama, g-man, rico, devin, nutella, FZ, bf, juliet, MP and Dom all are people I felt really contributed to me (and the civs) being able to win this game. I'm glad a handful of them got to share in it. But ultimately I got to win for the sole reason that llama felt fit to set Lazarus and I against each other and any of the rest of you might have been here instead, so I hope you drink in the glory of the win. Thank you to all of you - and to our heathen team - for making it such a fun game. I enjoyed every moment of it.
You have no idea how many times I wanted to say 'I'm still playing biblical mafia' in economics. The workload is full on. I really need to do my best to stick to one game at a time. But hey, normally I'm just not alive for that long.
I think it's kind of ironic that I wanted to make a three-letter sock alliance with job on day one (and nearly tried to)... and then he turned out to be blindfaeth, my bud. If only I had known...
I'll remember this game fondly for being the game where I survived 15 days. I can assure you this will never happen to the de-socked golden in all the rest of my mafia days.

Re: Biblical Mafia [ENDGAME]
Sooooo:
1. Here is, again, my list of projections for the identities behind the socks. I kept doing it until I got lynched or so. I just threw in every hunch for every player, as soon I had a signal, that's why there are multiple guesses in front of most. Amusing that a few player I assumed would join this game never did (BWT, Boo, Made, Enrique, Mongoose, Unfurl, Zeek).
I probably should have written down a few reasons for my hunches as well (other than the obvious slips or trademarks), because I don't remember said reasons anymore now: mostly related to their gameplay (writing style, read style, use of emoticons, etc.), though.
Not quite MP-level, but 11 good picks out of 33 ain't too shabby either.
2. Instead of my "Death-Note method" of transcribing each players' activity, I did a generic table this time with each players' read on everyone else. I'm not too happy with the method, however, because it didn't help much to rely just on that - case in point, having to go back on Day 8 and do those massive re-reads on everybody alive (which I also saved in writing at that time, below each table). Here's just a sample.
3. Here's some even crazier and pointless stuff, though. Whilst the game was in sign-ups, I started keeping track of players' activity in the forum (whether visible or hidden, when logged in), in hopes that their sockplay would then either match or completely contrast. The darker the color, the more frequent the respective player (or sock) was present in that particular hour. Of course, it didn't lead to anything and I didn't keep track of the sock activity for much time, after the game started, in order not to lose all the sanity I had left. Some players really do have patterns of activity, though.
I never counted the fact that XthGamer, Leggy, Heiots or DREAM might join, so that's why they only show up in the *newbies* row.
4. Usual theory tidbits on role and sock identities. Decent enough.
5. Votes walkthrough (as far as I'm aware off i.e. not aware of other vote manipulation).

And finally
6. The game spreadsheet. Updated according to how much I know, of course.
As for what I still don't know (and will likely remained unanswered):
a) Which players did Famine target to post only once and when. (I should actually check back in the thread, because I think players like Rachel and Lot hinted at it). Also, I assume he silenced me, Ruth and Paul on Day 2, but I could be wrong.
b) Which players did War place in a "feud" relationship and when (besides me vs. Paul and Lot vs. Lazarus - though I think the latter was Moses' doing).
c) Uggh. I guess it's way too much to ask Conquest how did he create and modified his factions, so I won't even try.
d) Which players did Uzziah incapacitate and when. (good luck squeezing that info out of him )
e) Which players did Pharaoh force and when. (but Xth already said he won't tell )
f) If Ruth emasculated succesfully any prophets. Who did she target, otherwise, and when.
g) Which players did Deborah block and when.
h) Which dead players did Esther check and when.
i) When did Rahab join the Heathens and who did she check to join them.
j) If Cain checked any aligments on Night 1.
k) If Paul ever inquired the Host on a player alignment ahead of voting Day 2.
l) If Mary Magdalene offered someone amnesty from the poll on Day 2. I forgot who that player was.
m) If Hagar ever checked any players' identity.
n) Fat chance, but whether Malchus ever guessed a future lynch correctly and got/used any power boost.
o) If Chapter VII night kill failed because of Lazarus using his protection.
p) When and which players did Moses target with: Lice, Flies, Pestilence, Hail and Darkness. I hope I got it right on which nights he used his other powers, otherwise.
I understand Noah 1.0/2.0 never saved anyone from the floods, which makes it really interesting that the victims were always low players, much like Balaam used to pray to happen.

Oh, also, can I get a gender check on Heiots, DREAM, leggyorlyb, Boogs? Good thing this was a sock game and I didn't get to out myself by screwing up genders.
Also, Marco and XthGamer are blokes, right?

Re: Biblical Mafia [ENDGAME]
Quadruple post for final thoughts (for now, lol):
Thanks Epig for the game and congrats for it as well. You're still my favourite religious person who actually knows his stuff and you ran a smooth and intricate game, with slick host posts. Poker face BTS conversations too - certainly different from chatting like mad with MP back in Death Note. :P
I liked my assigned sock and role very much. My sock name really had a cool, exotic ring to it. I still don't know if Epig intentionally connected such dots, but Belshazzar also happens to be an opera by Handel (and a BOC song, as far as I understand, but I don't listen to them), so it fits my RL profile, too. As for Death, I guess I'm growing comfortable with FEB or Indy win-grab roles. I haven't been too cheerful in RL these months either, so I was comfy with such a role. I was also watching a full philosophical Yale course on Death (available on YouTube) during March/April, around the time the game started, so this role tag was quite the coincidence.
I'm in a position in which I can congratulate both the civvies and the Heathens for their game, because they both contributed to a tight duel. The Heathens really mixed it up, from Uzziah laughing in our face to Ruth's distancing and Esther & Rahab flying low and playing it subtle. But the civs, alongside a few other horsemen, also had some top notch hunting days. By the time three Heathens were down in a rather short amount of days, I was really starting to sweat, because my death count was only at the halfway point. That's why I was compelled to write my last words in such fashion. I was still probably the luckiest of the Horsemen to achieve his win condition, overall. I still want to stress that I didn't pull any shenanigans with my lynch votes, despite my role allowing total indifference to who gets stones, and that I simply was a bad lyncher - but this will, of course, only constitute WIFOM in future games where I'll screw up just as bad, heh.
I won't elaborate further on how inactive/coattail players and role hinters acted, but I could certainly do with a lot less of that. I'm equally aware, however, that each new game will be a reboot for many, in which either new situations or the impulse to do the same stuff again will resurface. One thing I'm happier with, actually, is having givenmore cred this time to hinters such as Jacob, instead of never believing them and hunting them relentlessly, only to feel real bad afterwards (like it was with FZ. in Death Note or Canuck in Film...omg where is Canuck btw??).

No I meant I checked Absalom and the result was Horseman - I could not check anyone else bc I was dead.

Tbh, I didn't care that I was lynched early because I was very busy IRL at the time, and was involved in at least 2 other games (it may even have been 3).Golden wrote:This, absolutely this.MovingPictures07 wrote:I told myself I'd much rather win seldom but truly deserve it than win more often just because I develop a low participant or nonthreatening meta.
You're one of the most promising mafia newbies I've ever seen and I'd hate to see your playstyle degenerate just to ensure your own meta or survival.
You can definitely win without compromising your meta, but I agree with MP that seeing your team win in part because of your own effort is better than winning without any effort anyway.
On the other hand, if there's one thing I've learned from playing an Epignosis-hosted game, it's that you can die Day 1 and still have a legitimate chance of winning. I didn't take advantage of those oppurtunities in Game of Champions or Roger Rabbit when I was dead, but I think I did here.

Rico, I got recruited night 2 when I searched Uzziah I thought, "Surely he isn't ACTUALLY bad with that behavior!"
Never ignoring what behavior screams in my face, ever again.

The ones I can tell you off the top of my head:
f) No
h) Almost all of them
i) Uzziah. Night 2 I think?
j) Cain learned that Absalom was a horseman. She got silenced and then lynched, so she never got to use this info. Roxy was not a happy camper.
l) Mary M. did take someone off the poll early on, but I forget who it was.
m) Once.
n) Malchus predicted that Cain would be lynched. He was right. He got a curse of choice to use anytime, but he never did.
o) Yes.

I sent you my Night actions every time.
As I've written down on the spreadsheet, my targets were:
Night 1 - Samson (afterwards, believing it was my doing that he became my teamie, heh)
Night 2 - Martha
Night 3 - Cain
Night 4 - Gideon
Night 7 - Uzziah
Night 8 - Ruth
and bang!

LC was Pilate?!?!?!? Whaaaat
No sacrificing of Pilate!MovingPictures07 wrote:Contrary to my list, I actually did go after Pilate, even though he was stuck in my winning faction at that point (even though I was going to swap him the same Night I could no longer move names), because at that point I knew I seemed super civilian to everyone, and with Deborah's flip, I felt the civilians deserved to win more so than everyone else. I figured I could still pull off a win, if I was lucky, even if I sacrificed Pilate, so I viewed it as a necessary sacrifice, since the importance of helping the civilians win this game was nearly as much as winning the game for my own sake at that point.
Yeah, I decided to take my chance as a near-inactive this game, and it actually got me through. I still can't believe it!Ricochet wrote:I don't want this to sound too serious hat mode, but I'm still seriously considering playing a future game as borderline inactive, considering how bad I got burned being so active (yet wrong about stuff), whilst others fared much better and did so little.
Hey, that's me, Pilate! I was Moses! Tell me more!Epignosis wrote:You didn't get Samson because he was your first target. There was another mechanic in play for that: Moses.Ricochet wrote:And I don't think Epig explained it, but Samson became my "Angel of Death" after he died and he became my first target. He shared my win condition and was allowed to vote, but not post on-topic. He refrained to vote for a while, because all the lynches were straightforward, but the day Isaac and Mordecai got close, we stood by and, under my command, he made it a tie. Unfortunately, that completely backfired on us and got my killed afterwards.
And MM totally outed himself in the BTSC by signing as "MM89-Phone", right after Epig specifically sent us PMs in which he told us NOT to out ourselves.
MM's tale as Samson is so ironic, I can't even. Signed up as sock, still gets killed D1. Gets stuck with me in BTSC, like old mafia chums. Depends his win on me entirely. I lurked in the chat and jumped in his place during the Second Trivia Game, without warning. He gets the win after all, even though he lost D1. Epic.
....still catching up on the Postgame. More comments to come from Pilate, the Inactive Wonder-Winner!
