Turf Wars: Battle of the Hosts

Brought to you by Spacedaisy and MovingPictures07!

Civilians

The Daisy Crime Syndicate (12)
Do not share BTSC unless specified. Win when all of The Police and The Don from The Sockfaced Famiglia are dead or arrested, but only if their alive and free family members outnumber those of The Sockfaced Famiglia.
The Don – Every night, he selects a mission that the Capo and Crew must perform; he either punishes or rewards them based on their performance. Additionally, every night, he puts a hit out on a player; if it matches the name submitted by Hitman, the hit is successful. He is immune to any Police night actions. Can only be lynched if the majority of his voters is from his own family. Has BTSC with Consigliere.

Consigliere – Has BTSC with The Don and assists him in making decisions regarding the family.

Hitman – Submits the name of a player every night; if it matches the player submitted by The Don, that player is killed.

Loan Shark – Has up to 3 extra votes to be loaned out. The votes can be loaned out at any time during the night or day before the lynch is complete. Players can PM the Loan Shark at any time with their requested number of votes (1, 2, or 3), and they will be informed if the Loan Shark decides to loan them their request. No other communication can transpire between players and the Loan Shark behind the scenes.

Stool Pigeon – At the beginning of the game, he selects a number which corresponds to a member of his family (excluding The Don). He will learn the role of the player selected. If he is in danger of being arrested, he may choose to reveal the identity of this player to the Police, and if so, he is saved.

Messaggero – Communicates with one of his family members currently in prison; he receives a message every night and sends one every day.

Traitor – Defects to The Sockfaced Famiglia if The Don votes for him at any point in the game.

Lover – In love with the Lover from The Sockfaced Famiglia. Searches for that player every night; if found, they gain BTSC and Lover can win alongside the Sockfaced Famiglia, but only if both are alive. However, Lover still can win with The Daisy Crime Syndicate and counts as a member of The Daisy Crime Syndicate.

Capo – Shares BTSC with Crew members. Collectively, they carry out a mission given to them by The Don each cycle.

Crew (2) - Share BTSC with Capo.

The Fall Guy – At the beginning of the game, The Fall Guy chooses a role from The Daisy Crime Syndicate. If at any time this role is lynched, The Fall Guy takes the fall for that player and will be lynched in their place. If this role is instead ever arrested or nightkilled, The Fall Guy assumes their role power in their place.

Crew (2) - Share BTSC with Capo.

Sockface – Sockface has the following abilities:

[How is it going?]: Sockface is very friendly. Once per night, he can greet a player. That player will be protected from night kills. He cannot use this on the same player for two consecutive nights.

[Rainbow List]: Once in the game, Sockface can send the host a rainbow list, ranking all the players from most civ to most bad. The 1/3 of the players leaning most bad will be roleblocked for the night, and the 1/3 leaning most civ will be protected from night kills.

[A dog who is so excited he is just peeing all over everything]: If Sockface thinks he has found a baddie, he will get really excited. Once in the game, he can activate this ability to gain triple vote power for a day.

Baddies

The Police (6)
Share BTSC. Win when all of The Daisy Crime Syndicate and The Sockfaced Famiglia are either dead or arrested.
Police Chief – Arrests a player of his choice every night; if he is lynched, his arrest passes down. Every night he also has a 20% chance of arresting a second player; this ability does not pass down.

Undercover Cop - If lynched, he appears as the role of his choice.

Beat Cop - Patrols one player of his choice every night, effectively role blocking them.

Surveillance Specialist - Every night, he may choose whether to receive a snippet of BTSC or to receive a surveillance photo of a player of his choice. Surveillance photos attempt to reveal a player’s identity, but may be doctored. All BTSC snippets remove a few randomly selected names and words.

Warden - Runs the prison and oversees all the prisoners.

Rookie Cop - This guy’s just learning the ropes! He has no power.

RULES & PROCEDURES
Gameplay
1. Days are 48 hours.
2. Nights are 24 hours, but all PMs must be sent to your host within 23 hours.
3. All game conversation must take place in the thread unless you have specifically been given BTSC (see: Rules).
4. All votes must be cast in the poll to count. It is considered standard and good form to post at the time of your vote and indicate your vote with bold/underline. Your hosts would very much appreciate that you do this, so please do so, but it is not necessary for your vote to count.
5. All votes are changeable. You may change your vote as many times as you wish up until the vote's deadline.
6. All lynch ties will be decided randomly.
7. All role power PMs must be sent in by the player utilizing the power. No relying on BTSCmates (if you have any) to send in your power.
8. If your faction wins, you win, regardless of whether you are dead or alive at endgame. Do your best! Fight for your faction's win condition. Players who fail to meet participation criteria will be denied a win.
9. The hosts for this game are MovingPictures07 and Spacedaisy. Please PM all game and role mechanics questions as well as any role power PMs to YOUR HOST, as specified in your role card, not both.
10. The Mod on Duty for this game is nijuukyugou. She is there for any of your questions or concerns not strictly related to game or role mechanics. Please PM her with any grievances or concerns you may have at any time, notably including conflicts with other players. Keep the thread fun and clean of emotionally-charged drama or conflicts; PM nijuukyugou instead. We want to keep this game as fun as possible for everyone.

Rules
1. Be respectful and remember that this is a game. Although mafia is a game of deception and can be rather heated, recognize that the game is not personal and that your friends may be lying to you in the spirit of the game. Please treat your fellow players with respect, even if you suspect or strongly disagree with them.
2. No BTSC (Behind the Scenes Contact/Conversation) with anyone other than your specified BTSC partners.
3. No editing or deleting of posts.
4. No role outing of yourself or anyone else. This includes all statements of fact regarding your or someone else's role, such as "I am The Don" or "Spacedaisy is Beat Cop", etc. This game is open setup role madness and incompatible with role outing, thus making it not fun when players engage in it. Absolutely don't do it.
5. No dumping information you received from the Host (whether role-related or not) into the thread. This includes statements that more often are seen as implications, rather than statements of fact (role outing). An example would be declaring that "I have reasons to believe MovingPictures07 is Beat Cop" without elaborating. If you suspect someone to be a certain role or alignment, use in-thread reasons to back up your assertion or speculation, even if your reasons are sourced from information you gained outside of the thread. If you are unsure if what you are about to say constitutes info dumping, please PM the hosts first before making the post. If you fail to do this and your post does violate information dumping, then you and your faction will be punished.
6. You may, however, alignment claim truthfully or falsely, although it is not necessarily recommended.
7. No self-voting, even as a placeholder. This is considered an illegal move in this game as much as voting for the non-player option.
8. No double-targeting (targeting the same individual with a role power twice in a row).
9. Dead players should not post on-topic and any posts made should be in dead red. There is a "dead" code for this function.
10. Off-topic posts should be in off-topic green. There is an "OT" code for this function.
11. Posts from non-players should be in non-player blue. There is a "np" code for this function.
12. This is MovingPictures07's host color. All of his host posts will be in this color. Don't use it!
13. This is Spacedaisy's host color. All of her host posts will be in this color. Don't use it!

Participation
The following behavior constitutes non-participation:

- If you do not post for more than 72 consecutive hours.
- If you do not cast a vote in 3 or more lynches.
- If you do not send in your night power on 3 or more occasions.

If any one of these are committed, it will qualify as non-participation for the purposes of this game. Consequently, any player who commits any of these will have their Participation Score (P-Score) penalized.

If at any time you are afraid you cannot fulfill any of these requirements due to any reason, please PM both hosts immediately explaining your situation or requesting a replacement. In the case of the latter, we will then seek out someone to take your place and your P-Score will not be penalized.

Exceptions will be made for unforeseen and uncontrollable circumstances.

Prologue

A burly man steps through the doorway of a small bar. His eyes quickly survey the room. It's dark and smokey, but he sees the party he's looking for and steps aside to allow the man behind him to enter. MP doesn't look around for trouble, that's why he pays the big goon to protect him. He just walks with confidence toward the table in the back. Daisy and her two thugs are already there. She sits calmly in the corner, waiting for him.

"You're late," she comments as he pulls out a chair and sits down.

"I'm just making an entrance."

Daisy looks at his guard who is still standing behind MP, "doesn't he sit?"

"You left me the seat with my back exposed, he's just being cautious. After everything that's gone down, we won't take any chances."

"You think I'd hurt you? After we called this meeting? That would be a breach of the code."

He just gave a small shrug in response to her offended tone. Leaning in she went on, "You know we've got a problem. The Syndicate isn't big enough for two crime families. You've moved in on two of my drug corners in Tin Pan Alley and I heard a rumor you had a pimp working Apollo Square."

"Hey! You've been running some rackets around the Casino, so you're not blameless either. You've stepped into my territory too."

"Look, it's pointless to argue who is more to blame. We need to settle this once and for all."

That kind of talk made him nervous about what she had planned, but he was intrigued so he asked, "What did you have in mind?"

"A battle. One turf war to settle them all."

"I'm listening," he still thought she had some sort of trick up her sleeve.

"We have a common enemy."

"JaggedJimmyJay?"

"No! The police! No matter how many losses we take from each other, they keep snagging our men. We've got to get them to fall into line, show them who really runs this town. I say we work together to take them out."

"We'll probably lose more guys to them if we take them on."

"Exactly, and the family that comes out with the least losses takes over all of The Syndicate. The losing family will be absorbed into the other."

He nodded thoughtfully, "That could work. You sure you won't mind being an underboss for me?"

She laughed derisively, "As if that would ever happen, your family better be ready to become Daisy Crime Syndicate goons, because that is how this is going to shake out."

The phone rings and the bartender picks it up and after a brief conversation he approaches their table. He leans over and whispers something to Blooper, Daisy's guard on her left.

Blooper stands up, "We've got to move, the cops found out about this meeting, they're on their way now. There's a connecting door to the next storefront, we'll go out that way."

They all hurry towards the back and just as they reach the door they hear a commotion as the police bust through the front and back doors simultaneously. Blooper waves them through and turns to head back into the bar. Daisy calls after her, "What are you doing?"

"You all go ahead, I'll buy you some time to get out."

Daisy nodded and they all rushed into the next storefront and out that way, where their cars were waiting. They could hear a jumble of yelling and gunshots as they jumped into their cars and sped off. Blooper had sacrificed herself for the head of her family. Daisy sighed deeply; she knew it wouldn't be the last sacrifice her family would have to experience. She could only work make sure Daisy Crime Syndicate came out on top.

Speeding the opposite way across town MP was smiling to himself, he was already ahead of her since she clearly just lost someone else. Things were shaping up already and soon he and the Sockface Famiglia would be running this whole town.

There is no Day 0.

It is now Day 1.

You have 48 hours to find a policeman. Good luck, goons!

So, general rule I would like everyone to follow. Treat your vote as if it isn't changeable.

Our Don's don't want to vote around very much because of the traitor yes? Let's not make it easy for the police to spot who is hesitant to vote.

So, general rule I would like everyone to follow. Treat your vote as if it isn't changeable.

Our Don's don't want to vote around very much because of the traitor yes? Let's not make it easy for the police to spot who is hesitant to vote.
The Turnip is treacherous, and it is customary that I vote for him on Day 1.

Ok, hear me out Scotty,

The year is 20XX.

Formerly used strictly by military, the police are now being outfitted with H.I.P.S.T.R. suits or, Hide in Plain Sight Technical Recon Suits.

These "Hipster Suits", as people call them, deploy camouflage so advanced that the police can even hide just about anywhere. The camouflage makes them look like anyone they want. Me, you, even Marmot or SVS, we could go on all day. There is one flaw though in the hipster suits. If used for a prolonged period of time, the user will gain a dangerous attraction to edgey music, stupid haircuts, and skinny jeans.

Wilgy makes a good point. I'll try to stick to that. I think it could be a reasonable strategy to unofficially declare our votes if we want to change them later on, and then vote for our current declared suspect at the very end.

But why do YOU think he is wrong?

The plan sounded good to me. Though arguably the chances of the Dom bumping into the Traitor anyway are pretty high, and the chance of the cops finding the dom that easily can be pretty low given not everyone changes votes.

But usually civs who come up with these crazy plans early tend to be civ from my experience. It's too much of a gambit to fake that, I believe.

I guess the point is not so much whether the don bumps into the traitor, but whether the cops identify the don from a low voting propensity.

The trade-off we should consider is the likehood of this helping the dom, versus how much not being able to vote early will gimp us. Votes are a tool of pressure, they are useful to us.

Good point. We can't really control the don. They have their own trade-off to consider.

Do people usually change votes that often though? I do, but a lot of people usually just drop votes at the end.
