I felt great as a civilian drawing the night kill, which was the only purpose my role served.

I felt less great subbing back in as bad and being unable to really be there for my team.

Too bad lorab isn't here - what a hero. And Quinn, you were brilliant. You guys were a great group, my job was pretty easy. And what a game G-Man. I agree with Scotty, I was biting my nails in the end.

I was almost going to give the baddies the win due to the 1v1 lynch pairings but I had to let the civvies win. Had the win been due to a host mechanic, that would be different. But the -1 vote was the result of an intentional act by a player using her role. To deny the use of that -1 vote protection would amount to telling LoRab her role didn't count at the most important time. Quin and I talked over the ramifications and he was gracious in accepting this stunning defeat after busting his balls the last week or more to reach this point.

Had Quin tried to kill Sloonei, LoRab's protection would have been used instead of Goose's survival ability. That would have thrown us into a full Day 12, with three people left. Quin would have had a chance but it would have been an uphill battle.

The baddies were a phenomenal and it's a shame they couldn't have won. Thank you all for making this a wild and unpredictable game!

Ricochet has to be alive at the end to win. Epignosis spent more time as a baddie but I'm willing to extend credit to him since he did work hard to get his role eliminated. The Station Master was a civvie who only benefited the baddies while alive.

Thanks, G for being such an amazing host. Thanks too to my team of Quin, Zebs and Epi - I know I was a millstone around your necks but I appreciate your grace and understanding all the same. You guys were totally awesome and you deserved to win (in my view).

Congratulations to all the Townies! I may have lost this game as a Mafia but I scored big having made a couple of new friends out of this game (you know who you are ;) ). I feel sorry for what some of you were put through (especially Dom) but I guess that's Mafia for you :(

That's sadly the end of me here for a while but I look forward to catching up with many of you for my LOTR themed Burglary at Christmas :D

As unlikely as that is for quite some time, my friend - you proved to me this game what I'd thought of you in Romance of the Three Kingdoms. You are formidable at these games (despite that whole 'Dom thing') and I respect you enormously for that. I too hope I get the opportunity to play WITH you again one day. It's observing people like you and Jay that make these games such an educational experience to students of the game like me :bighug:

Thank you, Scotty :bighug: It's true - if I achieved anything at all this game, it was that I managed to negotiate the minefield of my integrity and personal beliefs without bringing the whole game crashing down around me. Although others jumped on Jay's challenge to me in asking those questions he did, I honestly don't think anyone other than him truly understood the consequences of him doing so in as far as I was concerned. Frankly, I love the guy and it was extremely astute of him to ask those questions when and how he did. The problem I have is that my reply to him held consequences for me far beyond this game (and The Syndicate). Still, from his reaction to my response, I accept that he at least understands my position and I appreciate that enormously.

The big takeaway here is that none of the BTSC-eligible civvie roles ever obtained BTSC. A certain baddie (you know who you are) kept bringing up the issue of 'too much BTSC making too many civvies known to each other.' Oh, if only you knew how hard I had to bite my tongue!

Looking back on it now, do you feel that I revealed too much information through the lynch and night posts? My posting style is like the old days of Lostpedia and The Piano. I've found I need to adapt that style for the folks here just a little more for the next game. I still think a balance can be achieved.

Also, Max got lynched before he had the chance to go mad. I regret never integrating Max or his family into the narrative, as they are the focus of the film.

For now, I must go to bed. I'll post a few other random thoughts and observations tomorrow. Feel free to post your questions. I will answer them!

Thank you all again for playing. This game exceeded my expectations on quality, duration, and excitement. Games are great because the players make it great. Thank you!

Anyway, thanks for the game G-Man - it was definitely the most intense game I've played to date. I cannot give enough credit to LoRab, to think we lost in a 1v1 scenario because of something that far behind in hindsight :haha:

For now, I must go to bed. I'll post a few other random thoughts and observations tomorrow. Feel free to post your questions. I will answer them!

Thank you all again for playing. This game exceeded my expectations on quality, duration, and excitement. Games are great because the players make it great. Thank you!
From my perspective, G - thought you did a great job. From the macabre (Motel Room) to the hilarious (Dom) you're write-ups were thoroughly entertaining. As for revealing too much information, I don't believe so. In my opinion there was nothing there that deliberately misled anyone and what was there was analysed to death and I personally think it was one of the things that made the game so enjoyable :)

A few notes:

~ This is the first time I have ever seen a Mafia game go into "overtime" if you will. When LoRab locked the vote at the end of LyLo1, I was pretty shocked. Observing from the grave, I was pretty torn throughout LyLo1 and I think I'd have ended up at a Dom lynch. What she did was brilliant though, because it 1) gave the townies in play more time to consider the situation and 2) confirmed her as town. She eliminated herself from contention and sent the game to a new cycle with that information now in play. I didn't anticipate that at all and it was awesome.

~ Dom and Quin: both of you deserve so much credit for how hard you fought through LyLo (both of them). The end of this game is something everyone here should be proud of -- if you ask me that's what Mafia is all about. Evidence was in the thread, but in the end it still came down to sleuthing, deception, and inference: the core of Mafia. It was very exciting to watch, and I can imagine excruciating to experience. Neither of you backed down for a minute despite facing that kind of pressure for nearly a full week. Thank you both for that.

~ Sloonei and LoRab: your teamwork in the end was beautiful to behold. You found the evidence you needed cooperatively to clear each other, and then you did everything you could think of to sort out the other two. The final choice may have been the wrong one, but sometimes that's just how Mafia goes. You left no stone unturned and made the best decision you felt you could make. Nobody could ask for more.

~ Quin specifically: you deserve to win this game more than any single player I've ever seen lose. I say that with confidence; I've really never seen anything else like this (the closest thing being Russtifinko's hard luck finish in Talking Heads). You did everything you could possibly do to finish the town off, and frankly -- you succeeded. It was only very bad luck that did you in. It's times like this where I think we should remember that winning and losing isn't always about how well you play; sometimes it's about where the breaks fall. I am not going to rememeber this game as a Quin loss; it feels absurd to say that.

~ G-Man: you designed an extremely fun game with a great balance of complexity and simplicity -- everything was visible and solvable, but there was room for intrigue (as seen at the end). Your write ups were awesome, and those alone made my Neil Hartley nonsense worth it. Bravo sir.

~ Epignosis: it's understandable that you weren't to give it the focus you'd have liked, but there's no denying you still impacted both of your factions positively in each body. Elohcin killed your ass pronto out of fear, and in your return you were just obscured enough to make your team mate links muddy. That's what caused the whole Dom vs. Quin drama in the first place.

~ Glorfindel: you did a great job as a baddie player under pressure for as long as you were. It's a great example of a philosophy I've always had as a baddie -- it's not about avoiding suspicion, it's about surviving suspicion. It didn't matter that anyone was on to you because town didn't take care of you until it was very late in the game -- late enough that afterword there was literally zero margin for error. That is the definition of productive baddie play.

~ Elohcin: your best contribution was in the trail you left -- there was no conclusive connection from your end to attach you to Quin, which was a big part of his comfortable position for so long. That counts for a lot.

~ All the townies out there -- it was a cooperative team effort to maintain your motivation despite the poor start to this game which facilitated the comeback. Everyone played a part in that and I'm proud to have been a part of this town team.

~ Everyone: you were a part of the game of the year, IMO. Pat yourselves on the back.

Thanks Jay. And holy shit Quin, you are a baddie legend. Shout out to everyone else too, games like this are the reason people play Mafia.

I would be mad that my team did so great throughout the whole game and still lost but I'm so impressed with the civilian comeback that I can't be. FANTASTIC job, town.

LoRab and Sloonei were great. Jimmy was his usual great self. A cavalcade of great performances.

Fairly happy with my radar in this game. Specifically Zebra, Glorfindel and civ reading Dom. Zebra did have me fooled for a while though.

I'm glad Sloonei finally gets a banner. It's actually a kind of sweet justice: he won this game even though he arguably should have lost -- just like in Turf Wars when he lost but arguably should have won. Them breaks, man.

Fun Fact. We actually killed Mac because we thought he was Max. We also thought LoRab was May Swasey for a while there.
