Misfits Mafia (END GAME)

#1

Post by Mister Rearranger »

First in a series of games based on a splendidly inappropriate UK television program, I present:

Image

Misfits: The First Season
Welcome to the start of your community service, young offenders!

The Roles (16):
The Misfits (5)
  • Barry (erm, I mean Simon) - As a result of the storm, Simon can become invisible at will. When he activates this power, his vote will not count in the next lynch, but he will avoid any power that would target him during the night.

Kelly - Kelly was given (or cursed with) the power to read minds. Every night, she will send in a PM. She'll then learn the intentions of the player who sent their PM in directly after her.

Curtis - Stuck mulling over his former career, Curtis was granted the ability to rewind time when those he cares about are in danger. With this gift, Curtis can protect a player every night.

Alisha - A vain partygoer before she was sentenced to community service, Alisha was affected by the storm as well. Anyone who comes into contact with her is overcome by extreme lust. If she is targeted, the vote of the player who targeted her will be nullified in the next poll and they will be silenced.

Nathan - In spite of his outgoing (sometimes a little too outgoing) personality, Nathan's power is a mystery, even to him.
The Township (5)
5 faculty members who crept through the show undetected! Who are these camera-shy citizens? Why, they're some of our own Syndicate users! You lot never told us you're all celebrity superheroes!
The Probation Workers (2)
  • Tony - Tony was mild-mannered, though visibly stressed before the storm hit. After it struck, he began a psychopathic rampage. He'll suppress his anger some of the time, but on odd nights, he will kill a player. *secret*

Sally - Tony's girlfriend and soon-to-be wife, she can track a player during even nights, *secret*. If Tony dies, she will be given his kill.
The Virtue Organization (3)
  • Rachel - Rachel uses her power of suggestion to force others to behave how she wants them too. She can influence their in-thread behavior on even nights. *secret*

Ellie - One of Rachel's earliest converts. That and Alisha's gossip about her former promiscuous habits are her only claims to noteworthiness.

Liam - Though he's now a part of Rachel's organization, Curtis once referred to Liam as "a right headcase". Liam can kill during even nights, *secret*.
The Uninvited Guest (1)
The Uninvited Guest - You were given incredible power by the storm, but have little responsibility. Every night starting on Night 3, you will use your power of emotional manipulation to target another player. Then, that player will kill someone they are aligned with instead of using their normal power.

**If the Uninvited Guest is to die before Night 3, he will become overwhelmed by his powers and self-destruct, killing either his assailant or a random person who voted for him. If** ****
And yes, this is still happening...

Day 0:

"This is it. It's your chance to do something positive. Give something back. You can help people, you can really make a difference to people's lives. That's what community service is all about. There are people out there who think you're scum. You have an opportunity to show them they're wrong."

"Yeah, but what if they're right?", came a voice from the gathering of five outcasts that stood before Tony, their probation worker. The retort was shot by Nathan Young, a scrawny teenager with a penchant for saying the wrong thing at the wrong time.

Inside the Community Service Centre, a few volunteers heard Tony's speech and glanced at the petty thieves and criminals who waited outside, forced to work here by way of laws instead of spending their day enjoying the positive feeling that came with giving back. "Why is he even wasting his time?" one of the good samaritans wondered. "These kids are just going to cause trouble and...". Another interrupted, "Perhaps we should go outside and join them. Y'know, set a good example and whatnot. Maybe one of us can make a difference for them?"

Tony's speech was about being a leader in your own community, even if you're down on your luck. Leaders can be found in unlikely places, even among a group of young offenders. Who among you wants to be that leader today? We might need one...

Welcome to your community service! Roles are out! You have 48 hours to pick a leader.

*Note: If you did not receive a role, please PM myself or Llama. I used Random.org to randomize role distribution.*

Yay, nothing like a shiny new game :D

That is an interesting poll~ I wonder if the "winner" gets a prize (or something) for being a leader?

There are many leaders in this group. But I don't know about "natural" or "born." Hedgeowl was hatched, not born. And DharmaHelper just isn't natural.

I am glad we have until Monday~ Dana & Made may be veritable MacArthurs unbeknownst to us.

Does anyone want to put themselves forward for leadership status? Also, I know zero about this show, although i have found the Wiki. Based on the roles, I am not sure if having a leadership role is a good thing or not?

I'll self-vote to get the ball rolling. No idea what's in store for me if I win the vote but I think that at the least I have enough free time to handle whatever it is.

I don't know the program (programme?). I'm assuming it's Orange is the New Black with fewer knockers and more knock outs.

Having skimmed the old Wiki, I am surprised there is no former drug dealer named Seth involved. That seems like a lost opportunity. Although Seth began the show as a guest...

I'm not going to vote for:

Keterman - Self voted, not a quality I think of as leadership material

Sorsha - Too eager to get the vote/put down opposition

SVS - Way to quick to put in a vote for Sorsha.

What about me though? I have puppies.

I just think DH is too hard to read. SVS is a tricksy one too but she wasn't asking for votes like DH.

I think I am easy enough for most people to read, if I did happen to be bad (which I'm not), you'd all be able to tell in a day or two and could lynch me. I think I'm a good choice.

A good leader is selfless, you just lost my vote.
Then selfless leaders don't exist unless they're involuntary leaders, which often carries its own set of problems. Your reasoning here isn't necessarily bad (although I disagree with it) but it does come off as contrived. I don't think you actually believe that a "good leader is selfless" position is reasonably enforced in a game of Mafia. It sounds like this "I only support the humble" position you're pushing is only to gain trust.

DH, you really should consider the kitties :noble:

I think he just really wants a puppy, but is too proud to admit it.

I disagree. Your self vote tells me you want the power that comes with being a leader, which tells me you're not concerned with the greater good. A good *civvie* player would take the 48 hours that we have and consider a multitude of options rather than immediately volunteering and self voting. A good *leader* is in my opinion, someone who does not want or desire to be a leader. Unlikely places, as the host would say. If your focus is not on yourself but on those around you, those who depend on your leadership, then you will make the best decisions possible as a leader.

Hello friends!
So much conversation already. Picking a leader seems really tough, especially since I only know a few people here! I guess I will learn as we go along, though.
SVS, what is a macarthur? Made and I are nice people, I promise!

MacArthur was a US military general, a famed strategist in WWII. A renowned leader :)

I do like kitties, Boogs. What a compelling argument! I'm tempted to vote for you.

Thank you SVS! I wasn't sure if it was a good thing or a bad thing. I guess I should have paid more attention in history class, haha.
