Ladies and gentlemen of the Syndicate, welcome to my first Speed game, the long awaited


The game of mafia where every post must be an image.

The idea behind the game is that you have to convey your thoughts using only images. I. e. using the picture of a dragon followed by the picture of Don Corleone to say DDL is bad. Creativity is the norm here. Smileys and animated gifs are also fair game.

Example:

I will provide you with sample images containing images related to each player and most common mafia words. You are expected to use your creativity for the rest, though.

However, I'm also going to give you a CHEAT BUTTON. Every player will be allowed to, 5 times per day/night cycle, post an image with text added to it (called "Text Image").Each Text Image can have up to 30 words. You will be awarded another 2 uses if you participate in a mafia/serial killer lynch in the previous day.

Example:

Naturally, I will also provide you with sites that can generate images with text or host them so you don't have to look for them.

NOTE: This game assumes every player can post and read images. This means you will not play most of it on phone, or you are skilled enough with a phone that you can copy and paste images in it with ease. Additionally, expect it to be heavier than most games in data consumption.

Finally, here are the details about the game:

- 15-20 players.
- 24/24 phases.
- Open setup.
- Role claiming and info dumping allowed.
- Players win or lose with their entire faction.
- Vote changing allowed.
- Double targetting banned.
- Night killed roles are shown, unless the mafia janitor interferes.

Setup:

CIVILIANS
1 cop
1 doctor
1 vigilante (2-shot)
1 roleblocker
9 vanilla civilians

MAFIA
1 godfather (appears as civ on investigations)
1 mafia roleblocker
1 janitor (players killed by it have their roles hidden and only the mafia knows it)
1 mafia goon

INDEPENDENT
1 serial killer (1-shot bulletproof)

My time is very limited right now, so I can't commit. I gave it a maybe though, since posting pictures is inherently less of a time sink than posting text.

It is time consuming to find the perfect meme or most descriptive image too.

I think GIFs need a category too, DDL.

When the game starts I'm going to provide you with useful websites, as well as sample images representing each player and some common mafia words.

Ok so I reworked the text explaining the game. Abolished the use of the word "meme" altogether since it was confusing some people (though it's still the same thing). Also increased the limits of Text Images a day from 3/4 to 5/7.

If anyone thinks the game looks scary or difficult and thinks they would sign up if it was improved in some way, I'm open for suggestions.

I also may reduce the player size a little if necessary. Though I don't want to host with less than 15 players.

Ok, DDL taught me how to post an image so I'll give this a try. I am not good with meme's and am a little concerned I will embarrass myself but it sounds like fun. I also have a schedule which keeps me out of the thread between about 9:30 and 3:30 each day but maybe I can manage it in the time I have left. So I'm in!

Is there a way to make this not so big?

You can upload an image in different sizes, depending on the image uploader. (I use postimage.org, for instance, and it has such options.)

hmm - I just clicked on the image and copied image address - I didn't use an uploader

well in that case, you can only copy it at the size you find it

My favorite is to upload it on imgur (which is already good for ensuring your image won't randomly disappear) and then use its resize feature which is pretty simple.

Picresize is also a good site that has more features, but you have to take it to somewhere else afterwards (i. e. imgur) since it doesn't store the image for more than a few minutes.

With the pacing this is taking to fill it might start by the time you are ending your breaks tbh.

DDL - I'm sorry but I may have to drop. I'm having more surgery (unexpectedly) on Tuesday plus co-hosting the GOC. I'll change my vote to maybe and then maybe change back after I see how I feel after surgery if the game's not full.
