While a very intriguing idea, this type of game is just NOT for me, personally. The posting restriction was way too limiting.
I'm shocked.
Is that genuine shock or sarcasm? :P
What do you think?

Golden wrote:What I should have done, though... was take one vote on the chin and used one more post to respond to DH's allegation that it was 'last day fuckery' - which for me cemented the fact he was bad. I could have taken the vote, knowing DH had already voted for hedge, but I didn't think it through.

(I would have been all out for you tomorrow, DH, but I also have a feeling I would have been NKed if we'd successfully lynched splints).

Epi - I'd definitely play again. I'd be more relaxed about how much content I had. And I'd support a modkill for anyone who posts more than 4 times, MM found the loophole in your rules far too quickly.

Also, if I could change one thing, it would be the number of players. It plays as fast as a speed game anyway, I think you could definitely do it with 20-25. I think you almost need the time with so few posts per day.

Linki: Yeah Golden, I was starting to come on to DH. I managed to let myself get distracted though. And of course, my vote was the clincher.
At that point, I was confident we'd already won. I figured Tiny Bubbles wouldn't vote, and worst case scenario it would be 3-3. I didn't get the impression that Epi would want to stretch out the game by breaking the tie in the civs favor.

I tend to go into cruise control if I think I've won. :dark:

The funny thing for me was sending in the kills in order to change the poll times to throw people off. That should have been an indicator of my guilt at least, that I was always/mostly on point with posting/voting.

Usually I was asleep or not around when all that was going on, so it could be anyone in that time. I think my biggest disadvantage in this game was time zone. I always had to vote early and was rarely around while the thread was locked.

@TB - I hope you get that mafia role that you are waiting for soon :smoky:

I don't mean that in a hostile way or that Epignosis doesn't know how to run a game, or something like that. Quite the contrary. But if the rules allow for a certain activity or behavior, I am happy to engage in it. I wasn't being an asshat (I don't think?) I wasn't pseudo-role outing or info-dropping. I realize the spirit of the game was to enforce the idea of quality over quantity in our posts, but I'm not a spirited mafia player. I'm a demon. :feb:

Best thing about being a lawyer whose primary responsibility is drafting...

When I design a game, I am always thinking of demon rodents and what exploits they might find, and I do think very carefully about the wording of my rule drafting!

I agree with this. I found it hard to keep track with the times changing, and missed a lot of votes. But I did enjoy the speed aspect of it at the same time. :ponder:

Yes ^wss. It was good tactic on the your part to throw us off though. Also when they came in so fast, it had to be from an active player, but I didn't put DH in that role until too late.

I'm particularly proud that I found a way to improve this game.

-Didn't tunnel on Golden, was right not to.
-Managed to sort him and Long Con out before I went nuts on them.
-Caught MP07's forced response quick, responded late.

I definitely liked this format. If it's cool, I may run this at JTM sometime.

On a more serious note:

Do you think the 4 post 'limit' was the right number? Do you think it benefited one side more than the other, regardless of what actually happened in the game? Did the game pan out similarly or differently than you imagined, and are you happy with the result?

Oh, lol. I loved it! I really had fun. I quickly realised we couldn't win by just lynching those who weren't playing, and I don't think we ever righted that ship. Very frustrated with the TH lynch in particular. But as a concept, I thoroughly love it, and definitely reckon we should do it again.

I'm still happy with my sacrifice. I thought DREAM was for sure a civvie from the way the votes went down; if she had been lynched I probably would have been setup to get lynched the next Day anyways and I obviously had no way to defend myself. I wanted to take myself out before endgame scenarios, because we were doing so terribly (obviously I am just as much to blame for this :P ). So I kamikazed to go down in DREAM's place.

I could almost tell by the way you posted that we play similar in manner. I'm not surprised to find that to be the case.

You guys all played really well! Really looking forward to playing with you again.

This was a great introduction to mafia game. Although it was my second game, I found playing on this site a lot more daunting. I didn't lie in my posts...it genuinely took me about half the game to get to grips with all the new players. It was a good introduction to the site and I think it will make the next more complicated game easier for me.

Although I hope to god I'm civvie next time! Being mafia is fun, but I would like to experience it from the other side.

perhaps as a twist to the existing format, we could make the limit related to roles? as in, you can post as much as you want, but only about ONE particular character at a time. that would still steer the conversation towards a specific direction without limiting people's freedom to contribute.
mwahaha for the second time! Thanks though :) You should have just gone with your gut and killed me that first day. Next time I'm guaranteed to be civvie. :D

Being civilian is a great opportunity to be a paranoid wreck, constantly suspected as bad while getting everything wrong and feeling like the game is slipping away from you.

Just ask TB!
