My wife said something like that about our engagement. :)

Wait, no she didn't. That was me hosting D&D the summer of 2002. :sigh:

I hope so!! Not like the short time we were together in Zodiac :p

Anyway, this game is guaranteed to be wicked  Nice work Golden.

Regardless, I think Nero should be lynched on grounds that he's my partner, your partner, Enrique's partner, the Joker, the Riddler, the Gingerbread Man, and Toto.

As odd as it may be for some of our newbies, changeable votes were until recently not at all common around here.

Votes aren't changeable because I don't want them to be. The choice of exactly who to vote for and when is intentionally supposed to be hard in this game. Combining it with the admirals power, figuring out your votes in this game will hopefully feel like a very meaningful and important decision.

But yeah, that is old school for *us*. It's why a lot of us old schoolers tend to hold our vote. We are getting better about strategy voting, but it is still hard at times. I still to this day tend to view immediate votes after the night ends as "possible info". RVS will always be foreign to me.

Do not assume such things. Unchangeable votes will still be a thing in some of my games, as will it be in others.

I've never played a game like that before so that will be hard for me to get used to as moving my vote around to pressure people is one of the ways I scumhunt.

Preach!

Just the idea of going back to non-changeable votes has gotten me all a twitter. I have been trying hard to adapt since coming back, but oh this will be like putting on that old, comfy pair of sweats at the end of a long, hard day.

You won't clarify game questions, but in clarification to one game mechanic, if a player can't act on the same player twice in a row, would that also including self-targeting?

Yes. The 'no double-targetting' rule works universally, including with self-targetting and any factional abilities (such as a mafia kill) if there are any in the game.

My boss has recently pointed this out to me... perhaps I need to subscribe to it!

Ten more players - lets get them going. Tell everyone you know to play. Hopefully we get them within the next couple of days. (welcome polo! Nice ninja poll vote!)

Playing with unchangeable votes doesn't have to be all that different. Just vote in the thread and not in the poll.

I didn't know we could do this. I was thinking of doing a vote just not in the red color or using FoS, finger of suspicion and only putting my final vote in, end of day.

It's actually a cool idea. I was resistant to it until I thought about it more and now I'm looking forward to it.

Which is basically saying, during the course of the day, "I suspect so & so, and as of this point plan on voting for them" without actually voting for them. Which is how we used to say. I think making faux votes will be confusing.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Tell the thread where your current vote stands (I guess that's the Finger of Suspicion), but your poll vote is your final vote.

OMG. This looks SO GOOD. SO. SO. GOOD.

I am a maybe. I have a Big Time Summer headed my way (WHOO!) which will not include Mafia for a good chunk of it.

I do not want to commit to something and then be a traitor to the cause. :noble:

I had to quote this to read it. My old eyeballs are struggling on this site. :p I will leave it unreadable in case it is a joke I am not getting it.

I will never stand in the way of comedy if I can help it. :noble:

Unless it is not funny. :disappoint:

of topically - golden - have you been listening to the west wing rewatch podcast? it's really good!
My boss has recently pointed this out to me... perhaps I need to subscribe to it!

Ten more players - lets get them going. Tell everyone you know to play. Hopefully we get them within the next couple of days. (welcome polo! Nice ninja poll vote!)
You totally should! The guy who played bill bailey is one of the hosts and they get peeps from the show on. I just listened to Dule Hill as a guest talking about Charlie. They are only about 5 episodes in and do 1 a week. You can rewatch then listen to them. :D It's quickly becoming one of the podcasts I most look forward to each week.

Even if I can't rewatch, it's still fun to listen to them hash out each episode.

I've read the introduction to this game and as I think I said before, I think it looks really good but I've felt until now that I shouldn't sign up as a consequence of the events of previous games that I've played here on this site. When I first started playing these games (on another site) I found that every game was more than anything else an opportunity to make at least one new friend - and things worked out that way. I started playing two years ago and to this day, some of my best friends are those whom I played Mafia with at some time or another. I was niave and silly enough to believe that Mafia worked like that everywhere but I see now that I was wrong - VERY wrong. It's just a game and in some cases that's simply ALL it is. I think now I understand that I can overcome my need to be polite, honest and genuine at least enough to play this game.

And with that, you may sign me up!

Ihave also made quite a few good friends playing Mafia over the years. We have people here who met & married over Mafia.

I am glad you are giving it another shot, Glorfindel.

Assuming you're who the right Glorfindel as I think you are, hi Matty! :D

You don't have to be impolite, deceptive and fake to play Mafia. It is a game, but you can still be super nice, super honest (lying by omission unless directly challenged, for example) and genuine to yourself (if you try to change yourself for the sake of the game, people will notice, just like it is in real life). That's what I do, I just have fun! It's a game at the end of the day, so I don't play to win, and even if it doesn't work like that everywhere and not everybody shares that mindset, that doesn't mean that you have to give up that part of yourself to play the game.

Be the nicest person in the game if you want (though I'll give you a run for your money haha), but don't be afraid to play the game, because it is a game, but the beauty of Mafia on places like here and my own homesite of MafiaManiac (which if you're the right Glorfindel you'll already know considering you have an account there) is that everybody can be themselves and have fun. It's a game p, but it's nit about the game, if that makes any sense haha.

Anyways hi! Welcome aboard! :suspish:

I'll confess, it was the fact that YOU had signed up for this game that made me change my mind about playing. Thank you for your kind and encouraging words my dear friend
