Honestly you guys should pick a better way of stopping bots. Ever heard of captchas?

He's approved.

And I have no other way to stop bots. I've tried every single other option available by phpBB, including the captchas, and then moments later spambots start flooding in. I don't know why.

As to the question itself, we may change it anyway since it's been a while. I'll see if I can come up with something even more intuitive for anyone that won't get busted by bots.

Thank you my friends for your exceedingly warm welcome! :) Please pay no mind to my friend Sig as in the dozen or so games I have played, I was drawn once as Mafia. I would've won that game too were it not for someone whom I now call a close friend thinking it would be funny to eliminate me for no reason

In any case, without in any way wishing to disrespect your traditions here, I would be happy to have my role drawn completely at random - be it Mafia, third party or Town. I too look forward to playing and getting to know you all better.

No problem, we're always glad to have new folks around here. I look forward to playing with you and getting to know you better as well! :)

Roles are generally randomized around here, so you can bet that will be the case. Typically, anything other than randomized is frowned upon (in the interest of fairness), but some hosts have made a few tweaks after randomizing from time to time.

I'm afraid Doc that one game I played at JTM was to help out a good friend (who incidentally was moderating that game). I didn't do myself any favours there but I have learnt the lesson NEVER to attempt to plav multiple games simultaneously!

And yes, Sig - it was Marvel Comics Mafia at GTF if you were interested. I learnt a great deal about myself from that game and in fact, have taken something away from every game I've played, whether it be a new perspective on the mechanics of Mafia games or a new friendship :) These are the reasons I play, If you aren't benefiting from playing in some way, I hardly see any point...

I'm always stupid. I shouldn't even be playing at all, ever, during this PhD program (how do you like that reference drop, Golden?). :haha:

I just tell myself that if I wasn't wasting my time playing mafia, I'd be wasting it doing something else fun... but inevitably less fun, since mafia is a hell of a lot of fun.

I am graduating from university in 3 weeks.

I have a mega paper to finish, and I haven't even started writing it yet (still doing research).

I'll try to policy myself so I don't spend all of my time in this game.

I get your point though, if I don't waste my time with this I'll waste it on my 3DS. Or on Undertale in the PC. Or on GameFAQs contests. Or reading stuff about Homestuck.

Congrats on graduation!

I can relate entirely; I have a ridiculous amount of items on my plate, and it'll only get worse in 2016 (2nd year paper which hopefully I can get published, last semester of classes, more teaching, more research assistant work, multiple research papers at various stages I haven't been putting enough time into probably, studying for and taking my 4-day comprehensive exam where I have to know 300+ accounting articles well enough to cite them in impromptu research paper-like responses, and then forming my dissertation committee and starting my dissertation). :omg:

What I've noticed though, since taking a break from playing mafia the last few months, my free time just got gobbled by other things. For most of the time since I've started my PhD, mafia has taken up a significant portion of my free time (I hardly have much time remaining for music, video games, etc.), and for a while I was fine with that. The time I had between my meltdown in Recruitment IV and starting my hosting of Talking Heads I found I just shifted more time to some of those items, and eventually found I missed mafia enough to want to still host that crossover Talking Heads game. Now with that over, I'm finding myself I miss playing enough to want to delve back into it, even if for a short time again. My very short-lived break at least helped me realize though that even when I'm not playing mafia (or not playing AND not hosting), I just end up burning that time I'd be playing mafia doing something else, even reading mafia games I'm not in, playing video games a bit more, whatever. It doesn't go to being extra productive on my work because I only end up doing so much, to some degree anyway. And I miss interacting with all of you folks, as well as the deduction/strategy/etc., so it eventually ends up drawing me back in. I'm convinced everyone needs some degree of downtime of something they thoroughly enjoy to keep themselves sane, no matter how busy they get.
