I love coffee and almost never drink tea, but I don't know what a coffee thread would be besides:
"Had a cup of black coffee. It was awesome."
You could talk about different style roasts and brewing methods and stuff.

What about sweet?

I normally drink black teas, but I saw this this morning and decided I'd try it. It's very good. Not tannic at all like some blacks can be.

Fun fact! Rooibos is actually needles instead of a conventional leaf, so it won't get that tannic feel that blacks and oolongs get. Sweet is good because I think it has a natural sweetness that you can play up with the right amount of sweetener.

Some people in South Africa like to make a Capetown Fog, which is like a London Fog by adding milk and vanilla syrup.

This is an oversimplification, but it's inbetween a black tea and a green tea on the black <---> white spectrum.

ture, and there are greener oolongs that are oxidized only a little more than green teas, and darker ones that are almost completely oxidized like black tea is.

We've been trying to cut down on how much soda pop we drink so we've been getting Iced Tea at the store (and I learned to brew Iced coffee. Eff you Starbucks!!).

We're very fond of the Hibiscus iced tea from Tazo. It is slightly tart like cranberries and super yum and refreshing. :)

I am a big fan of red zinger iced and that's hibiscus based too I think. Yum for tasty honest tea as well. I like Morrocan mint in general though as a hot tea.

A couple of earl greys I've had were like that, they have this sort of bitter aftertaste I can't describe well. I used to drink Tazo Zen a lot when I was first getting into tea, and I still like that. I've also had their loose leaf green at a Starbucks and that was good too. I think it's the bergamot flavoring that messes with me. I've not had Twinings' Earl Grey but I have had Numi's and that was good, so I'm not sure what causes it. :S

However, I do try to govern myself as a lady (a few of you won't believe this), and therefore I favor Lady Grey.

I am drinking Allegro Earl grey with almond milk right now. I feel so decadent. It's a little weak, since I over brewed the first cup, by forgetting it, but I don't care. Yum!

I admit. I fell for it and posted behind it, but then I realized what llama was doing. He is trying to steal our TEA thunder!!!

I made this thread with the pun of the song:

But I feel it. Don't let llama get us down. Tea drinkers - we can post in other threads - but we must always unite and take over so we are always at the top of things! Mostly because it makes llama somehow cranky and I'm ALL about that. :p :haha:  :fiesta:

I've been drinking Rooibos red tea most mornings. I enjoy it very much- so much so that I have even substituted my last beer of the night for a cup. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is saying something.

For me, it smells of sweet pipe tobacco. I do not smoke, but once upon a time I did enjoy a pipe or a cigar two or three times a year when the weather was perfect and the mood struck.

It's like that, in a cup.

That reminds me, there is a kind of bagged oolong I sometimes get that, when steeped, reminds me of the smell of the tobacco my mom uses to roll cigarettes for some reason.

I went MacGyver on the coffee filter this morning - put the tea in the filter, twisted it, and stabbed the top with a bamboo skewer so I wouldn't burn myself (there's no kitchen twine or string of any sort here, which I'm sure would've been easier). It worked quite well! Metal tea strainers, thankfully, are not terribly expensive, so if you ever do get one, it won't break your wallet. Just make sure you get a mesh one unless you want big chunks of leaves and whatnot (not tasty in my opinion).

Now That's improvising!!! Though it seems odd to me there's bamboo skeweres and no kitchen twine. Man, you buy a package of kitchen twine for one turkey and your stocked for like a year.

I learned how to make my own cold brew ice coffee this year. The hubby and I are trying to quit drinking soda so there's been more coffee and tea around the house these days. We have 4 of these ice tea pictures that have the strainer just down the middle of the pitcher and you pop the tea bags in there. He says "I'd love to get one of these defuser pitchers. I say "why don't we just pop the fruit and junk in the pitcher we already have? It's pretty much the same thing. He looks at me like I'm a genius.

One of us read the instruction packet that said "you may also use this as a fruit defuser for your tea." Guess which one of us it was? :D

Yes, I have it on DVD. We can watch it if you want. Best $5 I ever spent.

I had forgotten to mention the tea mongoose sent me for my birthday, it was good and helped me find a brand of herbal tea that I really like. Lately I've not tea'd much either because I am still using up the coffee I have, and it goes stale faster.
