It hasn't mattered little. I haven't said much, if really anything about it, sure. I haven't had a strong reason to pursue him.

I called him out for his reasoning on me because he was accusing me.

I'm really lost; what are you trying to discern exactly?
The point Dom is making is that you claim to be upset at people not playing the game, but that only manifested itself when YOU were accused, not at any other point during the game. His point is that you don't really have a problem with people not playing, you just have a problem with people coming after you. I don't want to put words in Dom's mouth, but I'm going to put two in anyway, and those two are "hypocrisy" and "opportunism".
I'll say them louder for the people in the back.

Alex, your play is hypocritical. You are only suspicious of MM and brought this much attention to him because he suspects you. You don't give a damn about how he's playing the game, because if you did, you would have suspected him long ago. You are being an opportunist on an easy-to-lynch person.

Additionally, I'll just spring that question I laid up there while I'm posting, since I'm playing for the balcony here.
You voted for Position 4. It benefits your role. Your words.
However, it CERTAINLY does not benefit the civilian cause to vote Position 4. It's almost like you are hiding under the guise of neutrality to keep yourself from being suspected. . .
which is something you just said is suspicious.
Okay, I get it. Fine, I'm hypocritical, I'll admit it. Opportunistic? I know I'm not being opportunistic, so no, but I suppose I can see why you see the situation that way.

Believe what you want, but I do give a damn about how everyone plays the game, and that should be evident in the fact that I'm playing this game as hard as I am.

I won't admit to even being remotely good at this game. I try my best. I realize everything I say isn't always logically sound or devoid of logical fallacy or even hypocrisy, so I'm glad you pointed this out. I apologize to MM for getting upset. I'm just not cut out to play this game and be a completely rational robot that makes the best arguments and never fails to react more heavily to suspicion against me than against others.
No one asks anyone to be a total logical robot in this game. No one.
You, however, pretend to be one.

But, hey, I'll eat my hat when you post like that towards DH who hasn't spoken against you.

MovingPictures07 wrote:This is exactly the conundrum of high versus low contributors though: I've hardly had anything to call MM out on for most of the game, because he's refused to actually commit to any suspicions or opinions for most of the game. Meanwhile, those who actually go out of their way to form opinions are easier to legitimize suspicions of, because they're putting themselves out there by analyzing and forming opinions of content.
This addresses nothing I said and only admits guilt.
I hadn't addressed your post yet.
But you did. ;)

You basically said-- in so many words:
"It's not fair! I post more! I should be suspected less! My behavior's obviously going to be more noticeable."
Yes. It is. However, your statement is an admission of guilt to my accusations.
MovingPictures07 wrote:If you think my play makes me mafia or even neutral and you all just want to get rid of me, then whatever, I can't stop you from placing your votes however you like. But I can try my best.

MP literally just baselessly accused both Llama and myself of "Wanting him out of the game" which would imply nefarious intent.

His only basis for this implication is that I am putting pressure on him.

Well, Dom, I would defend against that accusation, but I don't see how I can since it's based on emotion and nothing tangible. ;)

Hm.... so by his own metric, MP is suspicious and likely baddie!

I'm putting him in as a solid red for the future.

The Bureaucracy of Justice

In the shining city of New Paradis, stood the Bureau of Law, a gleaming structure of silver, gold, and white marble, eighty stories tall. Two hundred and twenty courtrooms were housed within, each processing justice many times a day. Statues of Serenity the Technomagus stood to each side of the wide staircase that led up to the heavy doors.

It was into one of these courtrooms that unfurl was led. She had to tilt her head back to see the judge, an imposing elderly man enhanced with cybernetic technology, behind a tall bench of deep blue white-veined marble. She waited for what seemed like an eternity while the judge read various screens and papers, blue lights glowing softly from underneath his skin. Finally, the judge spoke.

"unfurl, you have been accused of violating Core Precept 152.552, subsection 12C: Participation in Nondocile Political Actions Resulting In One or More Losses of Life." The judge gazed down sternly. "The charge is punishable by death. Do you wish to file a plea?"

"Yes I do!" said unfurl desperately. "I'm not guilty! There... there must be some mistake! I haven't even been involved-"

"Your plea has been filed. You will be placed into a state of deanimation while your plea is reviewed. This session is complete, please bring forth the next accused."

"Wait, what?" cried unfurl. "Deanimation? You mean death?!"

The judge frowned impatiently. "Your plea will be processed. If you are found not guilty, your record will be updated to reflect those findings. Please bring forth the next accused!"

"No!" shouted unfurl, as she was dragged away by two burly bailiffs. "That's not fair! That's not JUSTICE!"

unfurl has been lynched. She was the Technohacker, and unrecruited.

It is now Night 4. Night will end at 10:30pm EST, just under 23 hours from now. Please vote for your Phase 5 position.

Wow, that was quite a catch-up. First of all, what the heckie? Unfurl got lynched? :scared: Strange and unfortunate, and sorry to see you go unfurl. But @Bubbles I'm sure it wasn't a mistake, this game has lots of different abilities that can screw up lynch results. Consider yourself lucky.
WB Bass 2.0.
And uhh welcome to the game MasterOfShadows??? Idk what's going on with that. I've played games with creepy extra accounts like that before and they always skeeve me out. There's probably some secret forum shit going down or something.

MP has blown up again, what else is new. I don't really see it as suspicious, that's kind of just what he does and he's been particularly stressed so I'm not surprised, and honestly I agree with most of his thoughts on MM and Devin anyway. MM has been incredibly annoying, as has DH for very similar reasons.

Dom wrote: nutella, do you still qualify DH's reaction to Scotty as a NO U?
Yes. And I'm not really sure how you interpreted it otherwise, but okay.

Who are you on a team with?
 I am unrecruited.

I think that's all I particularly wanted to respond to for now, let me know if I missed anything.

Hrmmmm I really wish I knew what these "minor consequences" might entail. Part of me says we should just get Position 4 over with, but part of me says we should really keep delaying the poison. I'm leaning toward pos 1 atm.

I get this from nutella early Day 4. I come in and offer some input, and then I get the post I previously quoted.

What exactly are you looking for nutella? You had no responses to offer to any of my recent posts, but summed it up as "MM is incredibly annoying". You're not helping me here. You're misrepresenting (some of) my contributions, and giving other players reason to dismiss them. Why?

Alright, I concede that you've gotten a bit better today, at least at responding to questions. You still never explained your vote for me, though you alluded to thinking JJJ had picked up on it and that made me wonder if it was a force-vote that you couldn't explain or something, idk. If not I'd still like an explanation. Then you did basically the same thing to MP and only really explained yourself after he prodded, but at least you have explained yourself a little better and have started making serious posts again.

Wait wat? It almost feels like everything we looked at today didn't matter. fuckin Umbridge or whomever futzed with the votes.

I think some baddies had other ideas tonight. unfurl literally had 0 votes in the poll, so someone must have really wanted to save you.

Speaking of, how nice to you to drop in moments after you aren't lynched after having been gone for 3/4 of Day 4!

I voted position 1 again. I don't know what consequences mean, but I feel better taking my chances over
-Poison (slow and painful death)
-Curse (I watch those ghost documentaries on History Channel and I'd rather not be cursed thank you)
-? (Question mark)
-Chaos Curse (stop it with these curses man)
-Seemer (because fuck that. Also side note: Did you know Johnny Depp was named Mah-Woo-Meh by a Native American chief after his work on Lone Ranger, which literally translates to "Shape Shifter"
-Restart night (I don't like this or the position 5 for Supreme Judge. I feel like it would make this game drag evvveeennn longer than it needs to.

Also, let's not gloss over:
DisgruntledPorcupine wrote:Gonna go with TinyBubbles.

I'm not satisfied at all with the way this lynch turned out. I guess the question is now- did the vote manipulators work together to take out unfurl, did multiple people have a hand in it, and/or was it randomly unfurl? I see it as inconclusive and am just left pissed because I feel like no matter how I break it down, there's just so many powers that could have overlapped, I feel like we're back to square one for tomorrow.

Gonna do some more thinking over tomorrow. But we've definitely got some weeding to do.

Im sorry, i was working overtime had no computer access! i wanted to come back before poll closed ,but didnt get time ><

and whoever saved me, you have my thanks, nutella was right the mods didnt make a mistake. i kind of dont expect to live another night though, 10 votes man... sheeeesh. and RIP unfurl, you didn't deserve to die

my biggest suspect right now is Devin, based on his voting patterns and also the vagueness of his posts, which MP made a good case on. good vibes on MP btw, nothing out of the ordinary in his posts, sounds like he's normal MP baddie hunting. feeling good about JJJ, Ricochet, Roxy, timmer, neutral about metalmarsh,. metalmarsh is hard to read though, i dont think i recall him being bad in a previous game, so cant compare. somewhat annoyed/suspicious about disgruntledporcupine, feel like his vote on me was bandwagony, his lack of posts/explanations isnt very encouraging either (i know, im one to talk). golden suspected rey was bad and for that reason, i also think so since i believe golden's usually right about his reads. as for boom, i was bandwagoning on him with the first vote , second vote was based on some points made by JJJ, his arguments against golden sounded weak and disingenuous. i havent played with him before though so its hard to tell

Checking in, I don't have time to read 10 pages so I kept it to the host posts and did a search on my name.

I saw some people called me out for not hunting any baddies yet and claiming I said I would have started by now. Here is the relevant quote.
aapje wrote:I will likely start hunting some baddies after the weekend, or maybe on Friday if I have time then
Turns out the time I did have on Friday was fully spent catching up with the thread.

Other people have mentioned me voting DP again. The reason for that vote is twofold.
1. I really really really hate the way he plays this game. The reason why I pick him out of all the less active players is because he has been doing this for years now and it annoys me to no end.
2. I didn't have time to properly read up on the main suspects and I'd rather not blindly jump on a bandwagon.

I've overestimated the time I would have available to spend on this game and I've underestimated the time needed to just keep up with it. Now I'd love to be able to say I'll catch up on Monday but with the speed this game is going I don't think I can even make that promise. If I keep being unable to keep up with the thread I will ask for a replacement because I don't think it's fair for the active players to have to play with someone who is barely here at all. Also it would make me a massive hypocrite for hating on DP as much as I do.

What sources do I have? How it has worked in this game and how I have seen day stops work in other games? I'm not sure why here is a question there. Also, even with the night stop, the thread didn't stop--that is a huge difference. When people cannot post for an extended period, their thinking changes by the time they can post. Locking the thread is different regardless. Not sure why your are trying to argue that. Even when day immediately followed night, discussion was not interrupted.

And, no, it's not hypocritical. Defending an action and explaining why it does not make me bad is NOT the same as blowing off an accusation and saying that the accusation is not even worth responding to.
Ah, the good old feeling of talking to the moon when trying to discuss anything with you is returning.

[I have absolutely no idea what your first sentence means, but I'll give it a shot at interpreting anyway:] "I suspect you for something you did not say being a subtle misdirection, because it allows you to argue that you did not say the thing you did not say and that there's nothing suspicious about what you didn't say."

"My idea of how day stops work comes from previous games I've played, but I don't bother to mention this from the beginning, nor do I find it relevant how the day stop actually worked in this particular game. All that matters is what I know, not what happened."

"The meaning I attribute to day stops not stopping discussion is purely technical, broad, general and/or metaphysical and again do I not bother to make this clear from the first time, nor do I, again, find it relevant to how it fits the current game. All that matters is that discussion is not censored in general, not that the entire discussion throughout a phase, related to that phase, specific to that phase, is halted or rendered useless by that phase's sudden, premature end. That's not a discussion halt, because I only accept literal definition of what halting a discussion means."

"Constantly twirling in rebuttals, telling people to eye-me-all-they-want, saying I-am-not-bad-and-I-know-it and appealing to emotion by saying people just don't get or like my way of playing is called <Defending an action and explaining>."

If your next reply to me will remain unanswered, consider it that I've considered it pointless to keep talking to you on these matters.

RIP unfurl.

Whoa boy, three-page blowout.

I'm mostly inclined to believe this is Uzbarack's doing (Lynch Switch). It'd be extra cheeky for redirecting it to someone who got no votes, although unfurl did get suspicions. Can that mean he is one of unfurl's hunters?

Further uestion to everyone: If Ubzarg did this, do you think or find it more likely that a) Bubbles is part of the team and he openly saved her or b) the situation didn't put himself or his teammates in any danger and he just performed the switch for sport and chaos, just like he locked the thread at a two-way tie point?

If b), do you think him and his teammates still tried to blend in during the Day and hunt or even vote for the main wagons or did they wander off, bringing out other ideas or suspects, sidelining etc.? If Uzbark's action is clear nonchalance, how can we profile him within the thread - or his teammates for that matter, how would they have behaved, knowing they'll totally manipulate the lynch?

Can we get an angle out of this? Not sure, but it makes me wonder.

Azura's power would mean that the only way unfurl would get Azura's votes and get lynched would be if Azura had gotten the most votes (hence being in lynch position). That would mean Azura is TinyBubbles.

DH brought up The Apprentice's Random Potion and Pyromancer's Fireshield, but I don't think we got an explanation for what they do. Can the potion really be as strong as lynching a player regardless of the tally / switching a lynch / etc.?

---

About the positions, if we go with Position 4 and complete the rotation, will the positions still have "mild consequences" added to them during the second rotation or will they be consequence-free? What are the mild consequences supposed to mean?

Tears welled up in Wilgy's eyes as he fell to his knees. In front of him was Unfurls body. She had not betrayed him as he thought. Memories of their time together rushed through his head. Apologizing and asking to be friends, surprise skydiving, and the love letter Wilgy never delivered. He slammed a fist into the ground, and spoke apologies into the unresponsive air.

Don't vote for position 1 or 3. We don't want to give lynch immunity tomorrow. MM, I'm going to need your help tomorrow.

How do you play this game right MP?
Why do expect people all top conform and play the same?
Everyone has different styles and while you may not agree with it = it is their style. Not yours nor mine but their own unique style. You know MM is insane. He marches to his own drummer.

Play this game right? What does that mean?

I've tried playing the game your way. I can't do it. Even if I could do it succesfully, I'd get lynched for not being myself. Recall the "it's just MP being crazy, so that's normal" excuse Devin gave for defending you? It's kinda like that.

Why don't you convince mafia to nightkill me or something instead?
It means actually play the game of mafia. It's Day 4 and you say you have no suspects. Get out of here.

Your over the top reaction to a couple of votes is quite illuminating. Why so emo over a couple of votes?
You are being mean to MM when you tell him to "actually play the game" and "Get out of here".

This is what I meant last time - it is toxic and no fun to read and unfortunately I play for fun MP not this.

MovingPictures07 wrote:Look guys, I'm sorry, but I think it's completely unfair to throw out a baseless accusation at this stage of the game. Why even bother playing the game? If some players are just going to sit back and not even play it, then it ruins the game for the players who actually do play. Mafia is a game where you either are a civilian and try to baddie hunt, or you're mafia and try to act like a civilian. If I invest hours upon hours of my free time, of which I barely have any (it practically almost all goes to this game), and then some of the players don't even play the game by not posting or by posting a bunch of fluff and not issuing any opinions, then I won't play. It's clear I need a break from mafia, because I'm stressed out enough RL with the PhD as it is, and I've become testier in games over the past year as a result. I apologize for that. But you can understand why I'd get upset investing time into ISOing Devin's posts only to have it immediately denounced by two players as if I have underhanded intentions, with accusations that are impossible for me to defend against at that.

At least you've given me a reason now, MM, and I will next post a response to that post and the other two Roxy posts I wanted to respond to.

I will never play up to your standards and I am afraid a lot of the members of this forum would not be able to live up to these expectations.

I, like others, do not have hours and hours of free time - I work 7 days a week. I do not play games to appease your standards I play games to have fun. I like a bit of fluff. I also adore spamming. I like that everyone is different and has a different approach to the game. It makes it interesting. It would be very boring and more like work if we all to live up to your expectations. The fact is we are not the same people. We are different and thank goodness we are different!

I actually can relate to what you're saying here with tone, but I don't feel strongly about reywaS at this time. I've had moments where I thought he has appeared genuine and moments where I thought he has appeared opportunistic.
