I didn't see the point in having both of my votes on bubbles, of the players in the same group as you who had any votes you were the only one I was even remotely suspicious of.

Unchangeable votes might be refreshing :D Personally I would like to see a poll of only low posters :D

And since they had some of the same people on both sides, I assumed it would be one lynch and votes would be added together. That was what made the most sense since people could not be lynched twice.

Bye Bubbles, and BIH mysteriously benign SK.

Nope I'm good I don't like to vote for those who encourage it usually something nasty happens to those who do it.
Well let's see. Dom voted for me and he is fine. HB voted for me and he is fine.

If you think I am bad as evidently your expectation of bad things occuring by voting me indicates how do you plan to have me killed if not via lynch?

Scum confirmed.

I think a lot of the poll options look quite interesting. I like the one where you can't be lynched if the first letter of your name matches the square you're on, but something tells me more than half the players in the game won't like that at all! A double lynch could also be an interesting way to shake things up. I also like the idea of unchangeable votes but I don't think I'm keen on having people's vote power be determined by their square number - that could be really complicated to figure out and easy for baddies to manipulate.

So...

the option is on the table to effectively have two Day phases instead of one (as lynches are the civilians' greatest weapon)...

...and people seriously find unchangeable votes the most preferable option?

I like this point. The only thing better than lynching a baddie is lynching TWO baddies :srsnod:

Still considering my vote though, but a double lynch could be very helpful.

I would imagine that, given that 2 votes is a choice, we would only have one vote apiece but that the leader and the runner up both get lynched. That's not a bad deal. The way I see it, such unfamiliar logistics would make distancing and saving a teammate a little more uncomfortable.

Good-bye Tiny and I hope to see you in another game.

I'll have to think about which of these lynch options I prefer. None of them jump out as favorites.

I suspect you're right. Disappointing as if we're having a double lynch I'd also like a double vote. Still, the opportunity to kill two baddies with one stone isn't something I want to pass up. Gonna vote double lynch.

I should also mention I'm going to be away for most of the weekend. I leave at 3pm on Friday and won't be home until Sunday afternoon/evening. So I'll probably miss most of the day phase. Will try to post on phone if necessary, but given that I'll be seeing friends I haven't seen in ages, hanging out, drinking, and doing other fun stuff, I probably won't even think to check in. Will be sure to get my vote in early.

OH, and Draconus - formerly Devin the Omniscient - has replaced BUGLABUSH. Please give him a warm welcome.

And, why not make it three lines that end in the word "welcome".

I'm voting for non-changeable votes, and Draconus welcome.

I am getting ready to leave for a long trip that will be driving all day Saturday, stopping but after lynch time, and then driving part of the day Sunday. I will have to vote before I go to bed on Friday night to get my vote in. Draconus, welcome.

Glad to have you Draconus, welcome.

This is the real reason I voted the way I did. Even before opting to replace in, I found it bizarre that anyone (civilian) would want to go with unchangeable votes against this possibility.

I think the 2 lynches is an amazing tool for the civs to use the only problem I'm having is it's still early in the game and we could loss two civs. We have to also think about the mafia knows what is going to happen with the vote tonight before they kill so they could use the kill to throw more chaos into this up coming Lynch. That's why at this point it makes more sense to use non changeable votes.

Maybe having zero lynches is better for civilians because, golly, with even one lynch, we might lynch a civilian.

Please elaborate:

How is a kill going to throw the next lynch into chaos?

Why does it make more sense to use non-changeable votes? What is it about non-changeable votes that makes them more civilian-friendly?

When playing as mafia the whole idea behind using a kill is to set a civvie up for the next Lynch. Non changeable votes makes people use there vote and place it somewhere it's going to stick and doesn't allow people to jump all or the place.
Do you have two people you really think that are mafia ? With out a question of a doubt? Can you honestly say that to Lynches can't benefit the mafia too?

If we fuck up, yes, it can benefit the mafia. I acknowledge that. But every lynch in the history of mafia had the opportunity to benefit mafia. Soooo :shrug2:

I do have a question, though. Has this poll been offered before (I'm too busy (lazy) to check) and do you have reason to suspect that it will be offered again in the future? The host could easily give us another night poll with entirely new options. So why waste the opportunity?

So...your argument against lynching two people is that...Mafia will kill to set up two people? How do they manage that?
Bass_the_Clever wrote:Non changeable votes makes people use there vote and place it somewhere it's going to stick and doesn't allow people to jump all or the place.
Changeable votes benefit civilians more than Mafia.

Tell me, anyone: When you are bad, do you feel less or more comfortable going into a Day phase knowing that the tide can turn against you at the eleventh hour?

If I did, this game would cease to offer any entertainment value whatsoever. I'd rather play pick up sticks if no element of doubt were involved.

That's a risk you take when you sign up for Mafia in the first place. There are, at most, eight Mafia loose. If this is seriously your viewpoint, then you are arguing that we shouldn't have any lynches, because lynches can hurt civilians.

My argument is that a lynch is the civilians' primary weapon. It stands to reason, therefore, that two lynches for the price of one benefit civilians.

Yes, those lynches have to be right, but that fact doesn't change whether you have one lynch or fifteen- it's the object of the game.

On RYM we used to always have double-lynches in the event of a tie, and stopped doing it when it was too powerful for town. I don't see why a double-lynch would be a bad idea for tomorrow.

Mafia: A World Reborn - Night 3

Post by Long Con »

-= Mad Science =-

A dark figure swept across the night sky, the Circle of Decay's emissary. Wicked talons spread in eager anticipation of its kill, and it sucked its fanged teeth as its prey came into view. Bullzeye. Grinning at the thought of "hitting the target", it swooped down.

Bullzeye felt the dark presence above him, and turned in horror, but there was nowhere to run. Bullz screamed as the figure ripped into him gleefully, tearing him open and revelling in the feel of his warm blood as it washed over its claws. It landed, and plunged its jagged-toothed maw into his belly, ripping out organs and feasting on them until others began to arrive, hearing the commotion.

"Oh dear god!" cried Canucklehead, turning away from the awful scene.

"What is that thing?" yelled Typhoony. "It's some sort of demon! A demon!"

"My god, it's awful!" cried Bullzeye, just arriving at the scene. Confused, the others turned to look at him. "What?" he said. "It's... it's awful. What did I say?"

The creature snorted, glaring at Bullzeye with pulsing red and yellow eyes. It took one more big bite of Bullzeye before launching itself once again into the night sky.

Elsewhere, Dr Von Dreszenstein was busy with a living experiment strapped to his table. Woozily, Turnip Head came to, and looked around, struggling against the manacles that held him in place.

"What is this?!" he cried. "Let me out of here!"

"Of course, of course," reassured the Doctor. "But first, in the name of science, I must complete a little experiment on you."

"What? No!" Turnip Head strained again, but it was no use. "What are you going to do??"

"I just need to remove your heart. You may feel a slight pinch."

Turnip Head screamed until he could scream no more.

Turnip Head has been killed by Dr Von Dreszenstein.

Day 4 has begun. You will be lynching two people today. I'll be generous and let you know: someone will be lynched after 24 hours, and then another person will be lynched at the end of the day, after the full 48 hours.

I agree that lynches are civvies primary weapon on because it gives civvies the most important thing in a mafia game, information. Now the odds are not in favor of lynching to mafia with where the numbers stand, hell that aren't even that great to Lynch one mafia. That's why I don't like the double Lynch. I think we would have got more information from just a single Lynch but it's a dead point now.
