Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - Mafia [FULL GAME]

#1

a game for 33 players

- The Number One Rule of Alchemy is the equivalent exchange. One cannot gain something without sacrificing something else of equal value. Nothing can be ‘created’, only transmuted from something else. There are two primary sects of Alchemy. There is Alchemy, the study of tectonic shifts between physical solids, and manipulating these relationships. And there is Alkahestry, the study of the flow of life energy (chi) and its relationship with the beings that exude it. Alchemy is the common practice in the west, in Amestris, while Alkahestry comes from the east, from Xing.

- The Philosopher’s Stones are stones created from the souls of human beings. Since the human soul is an incredibly valuable substance, these stones can grant the holder unimaginable powers, though only an experienced alchemist has the ability to harness this power. Since the human life is such a precious substance, a life lost cannot be properly returned to its human form, and the attempt to do so with a human transmutation will result in drastic and unfortunate results.

Amestrians (16)
Image

Edward Elric “The Fullmetal Alchemist” --- The central protagonist of this story, Edward may be short in stature and temper, but he is loyal to those he believes strive for justice, and sacrifices himself for the safety of others on countless occasions. He is easily recognizable because of his automail leg and arm. --- Shares BTSC with Alphonse. --- Searches for Winry every night. If he finds her, he gains access to her mechanical abilities. --- (Secrets)

Image

Alphonse Elric “The Armored Alchemist” --- Edward’s younger, but taller brother, Alphonse is far more level-headed than his older brother. Though Alphonse died when he and Edward tried to bring their mother back to life, Edward was able to return him to life by attaching his soul to a suit of armor. --- Shares BTSC with Edward. --- (Secrets)

Image

Winry Rockbell --- Winry is a childhood friend of the Elric brothers, and an “automail freak”. She loves anything mechanical, especially related to automail, and is quite adept at constructing and repairing automail mechanisms. --- Searches for Edward every night. If she finds him, he gains access to her mechanical abilities. --- (Secrets)

Image

Roy Mustang “The Flame Alchemist” --- General Roy Mustang comes off as a selfish womanizer to the unsuspecting eye. While these traits are a part of his character, he uses them to hide his typically true nature to protect others and work for the greater good of Amestris. Roy has a very close relationship with his subordinate Riza. --- Can send one message to Riza every night. May kill at night, but only on nonconsecutive nights. --- (Secrets)

Image

Riza Hawkeye --- Though Riza’s father was an alchemist, Riza did not follow the same path. Instead, she joined the military, and became well known for her sharpshooting ability. Riza watches Roy’s back as a bodyguard and a close friend to make sure harm will not come to him, nor will he stray from the path of good. --- Can send one message to Roy each day --- (Secrets)

Image

Maes Hughes --- Lieutenant Colonel Maes is a proud father of one with a beautiful wife. Despite his demanding job in the military, he always finds time for the friends and family in his life. --- Cannot be lynched.

Image

King Bradley --- King Bradley is the long-reigning Führer (President) and military leader of Amestris. --- As the Führer (president) of Amestris, King Bradley decides all lynch ties. --- Because he has a wealth of security at his back, King Bradley cannot be nightkilled.

Image

Alex Armstrong “The Strong Arm Alchemist” --- Major Alex Armstrong is known for his perfectly sculpted body and cheery attitude, despite an intimidating appearance. His physique is a self-described work of art, and he has a certain knack of stripping to show it off to any unfortunate bystanders. --- Each night, one night action he is targeted with will be randomly redirected to another player because of his strength and ability to distract attention with his body. If he is not originally targeted with a night action, he will randomly draw the attention of another player, becoming their new target.

Image

Jean Havoc --- Jean often accompanied Roy on various missions when Riza is unavailable. On one particular mission, Jean suffered a spinal injury in which he was paralyzed from the waist down. He was forced to leave the military as a result, but was able to prove of use to Roy Mustang later on. --- If Jean is still alive after some time, he will help empower Roy’s Crew, adding a +1 to their votes in every lynch phase.

Image

Maria Ross --- Unfortunately for Maria, she was framed for the murder of a fellow officer. Roy helped her fake her death and flee the country to escape punishment, but she is presumed dead by those unknowing. --- (Secrets)

Image

Izumi Curtis “The Housewife Alchemist” --- Izumi is a fearsome martial arts specialist, and well-versed in the theories of alchemy. Though she enjoys introducing herself as ‘a simple housewife’, Izumi has a reputable disposition because of her skills, and the strict demeanor she carries. Still, Izumi’s body cannot keep up with her willpower, and she is prone to vomiting blood when she exerts herself too much. --- Every night action Izumi is targeted with will increase her vote by 1. Once her vote power reaches 3, she will reset to 0 the following night to allow her body to recover.

Image

Doctor Tim Marcoh “The Crystal Alchemist” --- Dr. Tim Marcoh has studied alchemy his entire life, and was even the chief researcher in the creation of philosopher’s stones. After learning that his research was being used to take the lives of innocent people (specifically in the Ishval War), Dr. Marcoh abandoned his position. He took his research with him to hide from the rest of the world. --- Each night, Dr. Marcoh may attempt to harvest a soul from a dead player to create a philosopher’s stone. --- (Secrets)
Roy Mustang’s Crew (4)
Roy Mustang’s crew consists of his most loyal subordinates. Though they were dispatched to the far reaches of Amestris, they returned to Roy’s side to help in the revolution. They are each highly skilled, and are often assigned to various secret tasks and missions by Roy. --- Each member of Roy’s crew may target a player (living or dead) each night. They may learn something about that player.
Image Image Image Image
  • Heymans Breda
    Denny Brosh
    Vato Falman
    Kain Fuery

Xingese (4)
Win Conditions - ?????
Chang Clan (1)

Image

Mei Chang “The Alkahestrist” --- Born of the Chang Clan of Xing, Mei is young but rather adept in Alkahestry (medicinal alchemy). She traveled to Amestris with her panda companion (Xiao-Mei) to learn of the Philosopher’s Stones in order to gain favor for her clan with the Xingese Emperor. --- Using her Alkahestry, Mei can protect one player each night. --- (Secrets)
Yao Clan (3)
Have BTSC
Image

Ling Yao --- Prince of the Yao Clan of Xing, Ling came to Amestris with the same mission as MeiChang along with his two companions, to discover the secrets of the Philosophers’ Stones. Ling is an extremely skilled swordsman, and is also known for his incredible appetite and his ability to manipulate circumstances in his favor. --- May search a player each night, and steal a Philosopher’s Stone if that player has one.

Image

Fu --- Fu is Ling’s primary bodyguard, and is a master at deception and perception, being a skilled fighter, and having the ability to sense signs of life (or lack thereof) nearby. --- If Ling is about to be lynched, Fu will be lynched in his place. --- Fu can sense the presence of Philosopher’s Stones. Each night, Fu will learn how many Philosopher's Stones were used that night.

Image

Lan Fan --- Lan Fan is the granddaughter of Fu, and the second of Ling’s bodyguards. She views Ling Yao with very high esteem, even bordering romantic. --- If Ling is targeted with a nightkill, Lan Fan will die in his place.

Officers of Fort Briggs (3)
Have BTSC
Win Condition - ?????
Image

Olivier Mira Armstrong --- Alex Armstrong’s sister, and the leader of the division at Fort Briggs, Olivier’s highest priority is to ensure the safety of her men at Fort Briggs, and keep the fort from falling into enemy hands. --- If Olivier is targeted for a nightkill, she instead kills the player who targeted her.

Image

Buccaneer --- Buccaneer does not stand for any nonsense (in proper Fort Briggs style), and is a fierce fighter, often being compared to a bear in stature and tenacity. --- May use his heavy-duty auto-mail arm to strong-arm someone each night, blocking that player from engaging in BTSC for the following day/night cycle.

Image

Miles --- Miles is of Ishvalan blood, but since he is an intelligent and respected officer in the Fort Briggs division, his race is of no concern among his peers. --- Being an intuitive officer, Miles may learn about vote manipulation from each lynch.

Father and His Children (7)
Have BTSC
Win Condition --- ?????
Image

Father --- Cannot be killed until his six sins have been killed. --- (Secrets)

Image

Lust --- May seduce a player on even nights, silencing them for the following day period. --- (Secrets)

Image

Gluttony --- (Secrets)

Image

Envy --- When killed, Envy may appear as the role of his choice. --- (Secrets)

Image

Wrath --- May kill on even nights. --- Searches nightly for Greed. --- (Secrets)

Image

Sloth --- May roleblock nightly. Sometimes, he lacks the will to roleblock, and sometimes, he misses his target, roleblocking the wrong player. --- (Secrets)

Image

Pride --- May target a player each night, removing that player from BTSC if they have it. --- (Secrets)

The Outcasts (3)
Win Condition - ?????
Image

Van Hohenheim “The Xerxian Alchemist” --- Van Hohenheim was tricked long ago into helping "Father" achieve prolonged life. In return, Van Hohenheim was granted the same "gift of life" and wanders the land in search of answers. Through his many travels over his long life, he has become a master in both Alchemy and Alkahestry. He is the father of Edward and Alphonse. --- (Secrets)

Image

Scar “The Scarred Alchemist” --- Scar is one of the few surviving natives of the Ishvalan conflict, which was a complete massacre. Because Alchemy was the medium that was used to kill so many of his people, he has made it his mission to destroy every Alchemist, especially those employed by the government of Amestris. --- May kill on odd nights. --- (Secrets)

Image

Greed --- Greed is a Homunculus and was once a child of Father, but his greed drove him to leave Father’s clan, because he wants everything for himself instead. He wants all the women and all the riches in the world, and Father’s plans won’t allow for this. --- (Secrets)

I will be your host this game.

MovingPictures07 helped a ton with the setup, and thus will be performing as the Mod on Duty.

It didn't make sense in my mind to exclude one or the other based on their impact in the story. On the other hand, Selime Bradley was less of an important character in the story, so he got the metaphorical boot.

I know necrobumping is a bad thing in some places, but I see no problem here. Where else would you get to talk about this game? :P

So Selim isn't in it then? Since story wise he was Pride. Or is he just not in it as Selim, but is as Pride. I see what you mean, I was just wondering how it would work. :P

Selim isn't even a character to be fair. He's like an empty shell.

While at least bradley has two facets of his personality that could be treated as different people. Though it's the first time I've seen someone make that divison in a mafia game.

Yes that too.

Bradley was actually a real person that was crafted into an immortal being, and the only such one of the seven children.
I also haven't seen Kill-La-Kill either. :(

In my other mafia site there is something we call the FMA Curse.

No matter what, nobody can host an FMA game. Real life will get in the way of those who try, procrastination will fall upon their lives, and those who insist will disappear from the internet right when sign ups are filled.

Seems like this curse might extend to this site too.

But I still believe...

That's a shame. It's one of the greatest serialized stories I've ever consumed.

Character building. Pacing. World-building. Art and style. No gimmicks, no luck, nothing like that. This story is near-perfect, cohesive, and I've watched the thing 5 times. (One of those times was by myself, on a whim. I never watch things by myself.)

Literally the only flaw I can point at it is that, in the anime adaptation, the pacing starts out rushed. There are reasons for the adaptation to do this. Nevertheless, it is a tiny, tiny flaw.

It's not my favorite manga but I'm pretty sure it's better than my favorite manga.

It's a shounen (manga/anime aimed at teenage boys) that doesn't actually insult your intelligence.

It has great fights but doesn't rely on them to work. It relies on a 10/10 plot.

it balances humor with drama perfectly.

It has great characters and memorable villains.

It's one of those stories that you can see the author is basically a genius at their field.

Maybe a little less, but this is a good estimate. 64 episodes at 24-ish minutes each.

It's also one of those anime that are actually good in either Japanese (with subs) or English.

No matter what, nobody can host an FMA game. Real life will get in the way of those who try, procrastination will fall upon their lives, and those who insist will disappear from the internet right when sign ups are filled.

Seems like this curse might extend to this site too.

But I still believe...

As you can see this game was ready 3 years ago.

The time it made it into signups, the Syndicate was dead and it took 2 months to get a mere 16 players signed up.

The FMA curse is real.

Regarding the rushing, do you think first time watchers should watch the original anime until the funeral (I don't think it is a great spoiler to say there is at least one death in this storyline) and then switch over to Brotherhood?

I mean the rushed pacing is essentially because the same story with the same animation style and cast was already told but that doesn't change the fact that the pacing of the first 10 or so episodes of the original is done better. Since the animes are so similar with the same cast and everything, it seems like this would be an easy correction to make. It's just a matter of when you should switch.

Unfortunately, there are some differences in the plot that keep that from working. Blame for a certain murder being placed in different hands, etc. A hybrid watch might work, but it would be more complicated than that.

I don't really want to specify why because of spoilers, but if you look up an episode list of the original, you'll see a bunch of plot points introduced before the funeral that don't work. Check episode 15 in particular.

If the two shows can be worked in together, it would be ideal, but it's probably too complicated. Not to mention that Ed, in brotherhood, gets flashbacks at some point to the first brotherhood episode, which is anime original and kickstarts the main plot early.

Much as I like the pacing, I recommend either just watching brotherhood or watching FMA in its entirety and THEN watching brotherhood. That's what I did.

Imo just read the manga if you want the pure experience.

But Brotherhood is almost perfect except for some skipped chapters at the beginning and they are not THAT important chapters (only noticeable missing thing is a certain minor character whose introduction is skipped and who appears suddenly later in the story).

The reason they did that was probably to catch up faster to the point the first anime stopped.

I confess I've never finished Brotherhood myself. Only read the manga.
