Interesting concept of a randomly selected setup. The dice roll before the game might have a significant impact upon who wins (because of the differences in balance between the three), but the ambiguity of the roles would make for some interesting roleclaim behavior -- assuming infodumping/roleclaiming would be legal.

This is a style I saw way back when I first started playing mafia, only difference was it was used on a nine player game, with 2 mafia and 7 civilians.

I merged this with the Championship style setup of 13 players to try out. I'm curious to see how roleclaiming would pan out as well (or how it would pan out on RYM where RCing is a more honed strategy). It's been so long since I've seen this format, I don't remember how it was used. But I decided to pull it back out again.

Another variation I have seen is something like this (for a 9 player game):

Paradigm 1:

• 6 vanilla civilians
  1 doctor
  2 vanilla mafia

Paradigm 2:

• 5 vanilla civilians
  1 cop
  1 doctor
  1 vanilla mafia
  1 mafia godfather (role checks as civ)

Paradigm 3:

• 6 vanilla civilians
  1 cop
  1 vanilla mafia
  1 mafia godfather

Paradigm 4:

• 7 vanilla civilians
  2 vanilla mafia
