I've had a busy month or so and haven't thought about this in a while. If it is to happen, I don't suspect it will very soon. Scheduling was proving difficult anyway.

I never realized this was here, but I would love to either run or play in a D and D session whether it be a one shot or a campaign. If a one shot is easier I would definitley be willing to run one. I've been doing them via discord and roll20 during the pandemic and it's been quite fun. There is a campaign setting for 5e called humblewood that I really like running if ever anyone would be interested.
Sometimes life does seem all planned out, like there's no choice in the matter. But that's just an illusion.

Ok, so my game is called The Mark of Nekrak'Tir. Level 1 party starts in Aldrapel, a bustling trade town south of Scornubel. They are celebraing the anniversary of when the wizard Aldra sacrificed himself to save the town from a dragon, his spell turning both of them to stone.

Opo Vic Threen, a gnomish artificer, is doing a Wild Magic demo, when an arrow pierces the containing glass globe and causes chaos, the worst of which sends the party and various other townsfolk to the Shadow Realm, specifically a section called Nekrak'Tir. They fought their way back to a still-open portal, through little annoying shadow creatures. When hit by one of these creatures, the player is Shadow-marked, and will eventually be overcome and consumed by shadow. So that's the driving force here.

The local wizard tells them that Ceranthus can maybe help with the Shadow Mark. They go to see him, fighting some goblins, cave spiders, then Ceranthus' keep is in Fey territory. As they approach, a bookish fey guy, Bernard, asks for their names. When given, the names are taken by him and they no longer have names.

Ceranthus says they need the Crimson Crystal to help cure the affliction, and it's with the Ulquaith Ascetics in the Far Hills. To get their names back, Bernard asks for fruit from a specific tree. The tree turns out to be Mahogany White, an Entlike white willow with a face on the trunk, and many unique fruits. Kobolds attack while they're there, so they defeat them. Mahogany White gives them fruit that allows him to travel psychically with them, and see through their eyes, which also gives them communication with each other.

They travel through the Reaching Woods toward Ulquaith, and get captured by gnolls and hobgoblins. While caged, an NPC who was Shadowmarked succumbs to the Shadow and becomes Shadow Man, spawning five Shadow Beasts and they start causing chaos and destruction in the gnoll village. The players fought through the monsters, freeing elf prisoners, and being pursued by Shadow Man. When all seems hopeless, a ring of fire appears, and the Circus King jumps out of it, bidding them to come to his realm.

There, in his pocket dimension, the party and elves recover, until an incident causes the King's violin to break, which damages the small realm. They fight off an eldritch horror, heal the King, and fix the violin.

That's where we're at now. I skipped quite a few details.

We host D&D for kids twice a month here at home.

The last campaign I hosted had everyone wash up on shore after a nasty storm took out all the ships in the area. There was only one ferryman left to take them elsewhere, and given the recent events, his fare got expensive.

The kids could do all sorts of things for money (work, beg, gamble, etc.). Eventually they all paid Jobrhil his fare and off they went.

The ferry was attacked by sea devils, which the kids fought off.

Upon reaching Crowold, the city guard made an attempt to arrest Jobrhil for the supernatural storms, claiming he was the only one in the area powerful enough to cause them. My players had a choice to defend Jobrhil or attack him. They (mostly) defended him.

After besting the guards, they took the boat back out but were assailed by pirates with fire archers. MULTIPLE players were mostly interested in just robbing Jobrhil. Greedy asses.

They escaped the boat after destroying the assaulting ship and ended up on a shore unknown.

And that is where a new host took over. He just finished HIS four week turn, so now it's Simon's time to spin the tale...

I want to know this as well; if he’s powerful enough to have created those storms, wouldn’t he have also been powerful enough to shield his own boat from them?

But then, if he were powerful enough to create them, he would surely be powerful enough to find easier ways to make alot of money?

I actually wrote that into the story! He's not that powerful. Most of his greatest feats came from trinkets and magical items (which were lost in attack). Mind you, the kids were trying to fuck him up WHILE his own boat (which they were on) was under attack. Kids...
