MP uses adverbs all the time, even when civ. I suggest you look out for adverbs that could specifically change people's perspective.

Also, the use of 'currently' is not only using an adverb, it is also using a necessary qualifier, given the hosts themselves have given that qualifier.

I am here, I promise!

MM is just mad that I got him lynched Day 1 in Wedding Mafia with no evidence. :)

I believe in starting at the beginning, so I choose position 1.

Ugh, looks like all the positions have some bad stuff. :sigh:

What's all this about adverbs? Discourse analysis in mafia, eh? Could make for some cool linguistic research :srsnod:

Serenity, now that's interesting...

Ok, could someone perhaps list the lethal powers not named (or including in their description) "Kill", because I seem to be a total newb with some that I haven't encountered before in a game? Thought I'm even more of a newb since I brushed over some obvious ones like dat pyromancer dude. Immolate?! Sure you want that, position 5 voters? :P

Anyway, I might look in more detail tomorrow, as much as time will permit (my RL position is getting busier and busier until the end of the month and beyond).

Disagree, Sloonei was caught for other reasons as well, and he generally uses adverbs in his speech, but if you want to claim that's why you found him as a single reason, go for it.

Well, to be more precise, I caught him because he massively overreacted to me accusing him of using adverbs. But the theory is still ultimately responsible.

Ubzargan (Poison)
War Monger (The Hunger)
Pyromancer (Various ?)
Highborn Assassin (Parasite) -- This isn't a kill per se, but if I recall correctly, it sucks the life/powers of a player it attaches to, and only dies if the host dies.
Master of Ancient Arts (Dragon ?)

I think those are the only potential "kills" without the word "kill". Others can confirm/deny.

Even you acknowledged it wasn't the adverbs, but the reactions, that mattered. :p (linki - you beat me to it!)

Still haven't done a detailed analysis, but if option 2 includes a thread lock and the hunger, that might be my vote in the interests of getting it out of the way early.

Depends on the game and host, really. I tend to make my Day 0's the same as my Days, but will end them early if everyone has checked in and there's no point in continuing it. Other hosts sometimes just make them shorter (24 instead of 48).

I think it's 24 hours here. Thought I read that somewhere, but not sure.

Is there a reason people are terrified of "The Hunger" beyond it simply being ominous? As in, has it appeared elsewhere in the annals of Syndicate lore and/or its sibling sites?

You guys realize that we could go the whole game without vpting Position 2 if we wanted to, right? The way BR has it set up, there will always be three or more options in each night poll.

I have never played the three previous recruitment games (I'm not sure how that happened), but I'm simply basing it off what SVS had to say on the matter.

It originated in Recruitment I as a secret role and killed players in very mysterious ways, forcing them to do or not do certain things, then killing them, like a ticking time bomb type of role. I wasn't entirely privy to it, though, since it wasn't on my team (Erlatz). It has made appearances in subsequent Recruitment games hosted by BR and LC.

Typhoony was the original The Hunger from Recruitment I, so perhaps he can provide more clarity.

SVS said she has had that role and been a victim of it. She didn't explain details, but she did say it is a horrible way to die.

Linki~ the Hunger kills you for even alluding to its existence. It targets you with a requirement, and you must fulfill it without alluding, or even hinting in any way, to being targeted, or it kills you right on the spot. It is very perilous.

Recruitment I was actually my second game ever and was hosted about 5 years ago on The Piano. Recruitment II was on The Piano as well. Unfortunately, neither of these games can be viewed.

Recruitment III was on RM, and I think the hosts linked to it in the sign-up thread, but I personally missed that game.

Glad you brought this up, MM.

In that case, I may not vote Option 2 after all, and instead we could just collectively try to avoid it.

I think if you divide your research by quantity and quality you will find that one is meaningless, and the other is not.
I caught a baddie with the adverb theory in Watchmen. Just sayin'.
Even you acknowledged it wasn't the adverbs, but the reactions, that mattered. :p (linki - you beat me to it!)

Still haven't done a detailed analysis, but if option 2 includes a thread lock and the hunger, that might be my vote in the interests of getting it out of the way early.
This is a good point. I may do the same.
You guys realize that we could go the whole game without vpting Position 2 if we wanted to, right? The way BR has it set up, there will always be three or more options in each night poll.
Oh, my understanding was that we had to cycle through all positions before that could happen. That does change things a little.

I just read through option 2 and it actually has a whole lot of things which are potentially beneficial to civilian factions as well, so we shouldn't rule out using it. But it does take away the need to vote for something just to get it out of the way.

Watchmen, yes. "Golden is bad because he did a really obvious attempted save on the baddie we lynched". :disappoint: I have forgiven DH though.

I've done a look through and, given what MM pointed out, I'm happy with option 5.
