DrWilgy, I see you creeping this thread. Care to explain your switch vote to MP? Because that's really, really sketchy, especially as you've been less than forthcoming with your llama vote analysis (other than to say you "got what you wanted" out of it). Right now, you strike me as very opportunistic.

Just busy. I accidentally fell asleep after work while writing it. Things have changed since my vote, and my time is shorter.

@rey - I agree it's the motivation, not the action, that matters. That's why I kept asking why does it make me bad? You've claimed I've done certain things, but you haven't provided any motivation for why I would do them when bad. You've just said they don't read genuine. But why would I lie about those things?

That's also why I went back to epi setting out the exact thought process behind the post where he claimed I gave four different answers to what I would do when recruiting. Epi did not seem interested in motivation either, even though the obvious motive for me even starting that particular conversation was to see if we could narrow down the field of potential baddie recruits so as to better find a baddie, but he also declined to provide any motive for why it would be a bad thing to do.

But whatever. Sometimes people tunnel in on you and you don't think it is entirely logical. When I really understood where you were coming from, I found your suspicion on me genuine. I can't disagree that in trying to get you to see what I was saying, I was skimming over some of the points you were trying to raise, because I was trying to get you to see that there was no baddie motivation for your allegation. But nm.
for what it's worth, I'm not interested in voting for you at current.

Sorry to see Epi and Typhoony gone so soon. :(

I was sporadically keeping up with reading the thread on my drive home last night but I’m just going to comment on things as I come across them in my re-reading tonight.

If Golden was baiting a baddie team to take Epi out what would make the baddie team actually think taking Epi out is a good idea?

Other than trying to set Golden up to look bad and lead to a Golden lynch today? Does that even work anymore? There is the whole WIFOM argument to go along with that situation. Leaving Epi alive to duke it out with Golden seems like it would be a better idea….. a distraction in the thread is usually good for the bad guys to hide behind.

I know most of us have been playing a while and have been bad before. I don’t recall ever reading the thread (as mafia) and thinking that the NK decision would be made by someone in the thread baiting the team to a kill.

Looks like a massive over correction to me. Either he has already recruited her or he intends to. MP has a good chance of receiving my vote today.
I would agree on the count of his most recent post about her-- that seemed forced. His first once, I think, someone solicited from him.
thellama73 wrote:MP is responding with threats now? "If you vote for me, I will vote for you"
That is atypical of him. Plus I don't like being threatened. Still some time left, assuming we actually have a 48 hour day, but MP looks no good to me.
You really think MP's response was out of character?
You think Alex being suspected, overreacting, and being rather unreasonable in the thread is unusual????
I would be suspicious if he DIDN'T do that.

I will be very busy tomorrow. I'll try and make it in for a vote, and further read. :)

For now, I'm placing a vote on Golden because I don't think I can trust him given his behavior thus far. I intend on reading further and hopefully changing the vote to something more informed, however.

I really don't agree with the assessment this is not civs vs baddies. just because it's not fully formed teams yet doesn't change the set up.

Personally, I'm tired of hearing the lectures to Golden. He pulled a ballsy move and it either worked or he is deceiving us majorly. If you think it is the former than drop it and move on. What is done is done. If you think it is the latter then vote for him. But I'm tired of discussing it. SVS, you are the only one I am not directing this to because you seem to be saying you don't recognize this as a normal Golden move. I respect what you are saying. I can even agree that this doesn't seem in character, but not just for civ golden, but baddie golden as well. But I just think he is most likely neutral. Who would recruit him right now anyway?

Vote for MP or don't, it's up to you. But he is not lying when he says he wouldn't recruit me first. And vice versa. I'm not going to defend him getting emotional, but I can say this isn't a faked thing. He has some decisions to make about what he wants to do in the future, but as for this game I don't personally see anything that makes me feel the desire to vote for him.

I'm sorry Typhoony got killed, but I think the outcry is a bit much. What you basically are saying is that it's ok to kill Metalmarsh or whoever else first but not someone who hasn't played in a while. Everyone playing really was looking forward to the game, so let's not start making someone out to be a horrible human being because of their choice of kill. And no, it wasn't me, but I've been in a spot where people went off about a game decision I made that wasn't personal, it was purely game strategy because I was playing the game as it was intended and it can be really hurtful to hear people rip you a new one without knowing its you or being able to defend yourself because then you are outed, so I'm not ashamed to ask you all politely to lay off. And let's not unintentionally (or intentionally) say Typhoony is more important than any other player, and therefore should be given special consideration please. No offense to you Typh, I wasn't really stoked to see you go, but I feel that about the majority (if not all) of the players here. And I look forward to the chance to play with you again, I hope in the not too distant future.

I need to go to bed, I'll try to think through everyone else tomorrow. Right now I am plagued by feeling mostly positive or neutral feelings about everyone, which makes it hard to decide who to vote...

Linki @Dom: I was just about to answer that.

I'm not opposed to lynching bass. But I'm mostly voting him for the time being, in order to protect MP a little. I am not a fan of the votes on MP. Any of them. That includes Bass's vote, even though it could be construed as self-defensive.

Are we going around in circles? We already had this discussion about 10 hours ago.
Golden wrote:Bass, put it like this.

You theorised that the recruiters were likely to be people who are known for always participating fully. That might take the heat of you as being a recruiter. I don't think you would be likely to make that statement if you were a civilian recruiter. You might if you were a baddie recruiter. I saw that statement as being likely neutral.

But, who is more likely to recruit the person admitting they aren't reading the thread?

It sounds a bit mean, but you've kind of admitted it yourself. You wouldn't make a great recruit. At least, not for the civilians who need to solve the game. But someone like that can also be very hard to lynch. Not a bad candidate for a baddie recruit.

In any event, with you I see a worst case scenario of being neutral, and that is ok with me. I'm trying to avoid lynching people who are civs. I don't think you are civ.

I really don't understand you Dom. Like I never understand most of the things that cause you to "eye" people, they're always the weirdest, most meaningless little things. Like how hard you went after Scotty for something you contrivedly read as a "slip" when it clearly wasn't (I think quite a few others were as baffled by your interpretation as I was.) And now you're eyeing me for placing an early vote in a changeable poll?? What??? I guess it's just how you play though, going doggedly after little things like that, but honestly if you weren't like this every game I would call you out for being opportunistic. But I'm generally always completely baffled by your extreme nitpickiness.

Right now, you strike me as very opportunistic.
Opportunistic, yes, very much so. Does this bother you? In regards to creeping, I was merely staying upto pace. I can't be falling too far behind. My vote switch to MP is simple, I wanted to pressure them. I do have an inclination to think that they are scum based upon the voting pattern I saw being formed. Until something else stands out to me, my vote will remain there.

The Llama vote and analysis are two different things, I wanted to see what would happen if a vote was placed on Llama. That's all.

Here's my analysis and thoughts so far, don't expect chronological order, I simply picked through things I found interesting:

Not sure how much we can gleam from D1's no result at all then.
This is another reason why I can confidently place my vote on MP. While this post may not contain much, suggesting that something has no informative value is wrong. All things are rational and have a reason for happening. Even suggesting that information is useless, can translate to "This evidence is irrelevant" which is always super scummy.

I'm not going to pretend that I'm 'glad' epi is dead either. I like playing mafia with epi. I just don't think him being alive was in my interests this game.
I'm in agreement with Spacedaisy that Golden is probably neutral (nothing has made me believe differently at least) and I read this comment as genuine. The thing I don't understand is what kind of role Golden has that would benefit solely from Epig's death?

Why DH in specific?

My thoughts on Bass the Cleaver right now are that I don't want to vote with him, but I also don't want to vote for him. We played a game together recently, and his activity and general tone were the exact same. The part that worries me is that we were both mafia at the time.

Setting: Spring time, flowers are in bloom and every now and then their petals are picked up by the cool wind. Wilgy stands under a shady tree outside the small convenience store. Wilgy looks upset by a thought placed in his head.

This is cute, but I am most definitely out of Unfurl's league, who am I to have feelings for her?
Wilgy ducks his head and sheds a single tear as he walks home from the store. Under the tree where he was standing there is a piece of paper that reads in Wilgy's handwriting:
More to come soon, I really wish I didn't become as busy today as I did. It's time for me to sleep now so I only posted things I saw as necessary. Also, I believe using a rez on a sorcerer is a bad Idea.

We are all out of unfurl's league. Unfurl is super-awesome.

I like that post from DrWilgy a lot. I won't end up voting that way today (you are right MM, I like doing that). Thoughts on Bass pretty much mirror my own, although the problem I have is somehow bass always seems to be mafia, so I'm not sure how much of bass's civ meta I have to go on. (lol at Bass the Cleaver though...)

I will say one thing though. I don't think we are going to get any choice as to who we use a rezz on (I could be wrong about that). I have a feeling that rezz contests will be played out amongst the dead, and we will get who we get.

Actually, resurrections seem to be in the hands of two roles, the Deathmask Shaman & the Druidic Elder. Although other forms of rezz may be possible I am sure.

Still do not find him suspicious.

Sebass (my son) does have this job going crazy right now. I know he has not had time to catch up. I don't like the tone of his posts but for right now I am willing to give him a chance.

Why is no one besides Rey and unfurl and I the only ones to comment on Teeth?

So why be cryptic? I'm not even sure which way North is on a website, maybe the Keeper wants us to lynch my bookmarks bar or Google Chrome? Perhaps it means a person from "The North" which is totally relative to where the Keeper is stood and I don't think any Starks are playing anyway.

Seriously posting roles, just say what you think and maybe even why you think it.

Yes because married people always want to spend 100% of everything together and in Mafia are always forced onto the same team. MP recruiting Daisy (or vice versa) would be such an obvious choice that it's just crazy levels of WIFOM and not worth getting into unless there's solid reasons to believe it.
Golden wrote: 1) I never decided epi was bad. Not unilaterally or otherwise. I decided it was in my best interests that he was dead. I think he was more than likely neutral, but that he was definitely not civ. I think you still don't fundamentally understand this. I didn't set out to kill epi because I was determined and tunneling on the fact he was on one of the two mafia teams. I just don't think we would have ended up on the same team, and that means it doesn't matter WHAT alignment epi had, it was not in my interests that he was alive.
You seem to be ignoring the fact you could've ended up each on one of the two civ teams, meaning that you'd effectively have been allies capable of winning together. If you're still neutral and playing with a neutral mentality then it's not really in your interest that anyone be alive, right? As long as you are when the game ends, it doesn't matter who else is or isn't until you've been locked into a specific win condition.
Golden wrote:2) I didn't intend to brag and sorry if it came across that way. I wanted to be honest about my own motives, that is all. If I had not been going on about killing epi, then the baddies may not have killed him (they also may have - I don't know. You are right that it is plausible it has nothing to do with me, I did not say what I said to claim credit for it. I said it because for me, saying that it had nothing to do with me would have felt dishonest because I felt like it DID have something to do with me, or at least may have). As I said to DH, sometimes it is probably smarter for me to keep my mouth shut, but I always try to be as honest as I can when I've executed a plan (obviously I couldn't say thats what I was trying to do before hand).
I feel like if you hadn't addressed Epi's death so much then there wouldn't be such a spotlight on you. It could've been you who did it, it could've been to set you up, it could've been to make you look bad or it could've been because the killer didn't like the colour of Epi's shoes. We don't know, and IMO you can't really say it was part of a plan of yours unless you were sat in a chatroom giggling maniacally about it.

Good point re: spelling of plight/plite. Could've been deliberate though. Again "North" as a person depends on where the Keeper is standing. I'm more Northern than some players and more Southern than others and if I got on a plane I could change that within a few hours. If Canuck went to Australia would she still be in the running for "North"? Maybe I'm thinking too much into this now.

No better or worse than using it on anyone else unless Typh was definitely a baddie. I doubt anyone will use one on him anyway, if he comes back it will be on his own power. Maybe I'm just selfish with rezzes but I'd always save it for myself.

Before anyone asks, this is what I'm referring to.

About the messages posted from The Speaker of Serenity and the Keeper of Ravens
The issue that I see with roles that can post messages on the thread, is that we dont know the identity or the intentions behind it?
From probabilities is more likely early on that player is civvie-neutral, but later on it can become an old fashion witchunt
It can become very handy to help to figure out things if they are receiving extra-knowledge but also good to keep an open mind
