Re: Romance of the Three Kingdoms [Day 4]
Glorf may be the most baffling new player I've seen upon returning to the site, Non-3J division. His uber sincerity made me 101% see him as scum in BSG, but it turns out he was civ after all, and his histrionics were genuine.
So I'm gonna give him a pass for now until I can do some good old fashioned Baltimore style good po-lice work.
Yesterday I voted for CapsFan and Sorsha. Neither of them have done anything to dissuade my opinion on them, and neither has a more compelling candidate come up. I'm gonna try and make this a Groundhog Day by voting the same way again.

Voted Bass and Simon. Hoping to keep Glorfindel out of fire, and I think Simon might be bad.

Too true. Especially true, being that the pages for me are loading at a snail's pace. ARGHHHH EVERY PAGE, EVERY CLICK IS LIKE MOLASSESElohcin wrote:

Well, I managed the last four pages. Well, three, I guess, since this isn't a full page, but that's better than I have been doing all game. And you know what? I got out of it about as much as I thought I would for reading randomly in the middle of the game - people all over the place, not much consensus. So here's where I'll vote.
One vote will be for Sloonei, for semantics. The other day, I managed to catch this post at the top of one of the pages I glanced at and its wording pinged me:
"I am least inclined to put town reads on right now"? What. Even saying "I'm leaning slightly baddie" or "these guys are in the yellow part of the rainbow" would be more committal than "least inclined to put town reads on." Wishy-washy weirding wording to the max. Unacceptable.Sloonei wrote:TheCapsFan and Sorsha
Of the candidates with lots of votes, they are the ones I am least inclined to put town reads on right now. TheCapsFan has seemed shaky and non-committal at times. I've not said much about him because I was trying to get more answers out of him before throwing an accusation his way, but that's out the window now.
Sorsha because I've spent the day waiting for her to explain a thing or two, but that never happened.
(and oh my god even getting an ISO and getting to the page with that post to quote it is friggin' torture, so no more ISOs/quoting today)
The other will be for Russ, because according to the few people posting, the dude wants to be voted. But hey, I could duel, too! But I'll go with Russ, since I'm not a fan of self-voting.

I reviewed TheCapsFan, and while he hasn't contributed much, hasn't said anything suspicious in my eyes, so I stuck with Lorab and Glorfindel (which I feel a little bad about since he suggested that he thinks I'm civ).

Sorry, what? I am pointing out that Mac's questioning of TH is sort of hypocritical seeing as he also didn't explain his votes, and I'd like him to do so. It is neither a "hollow accusation" nor does it have "zero meaning." I continue to feel as though you are making up bullshit reactions to perfectly reasonable posts because you have decided I'm bad and need to bend everything I say to support that.Dom wrote:Hollow accusation with zero meaning in it. OK, this is not a situation that I think I've ever been in before and I absolutely hate it. If I were to vote for the people I wanted, it would not make any difference to the end result so I am faced with having to vote for self-preservation (as no matter who I vote for, no one has a better chance of being Town than I. Looks like Bass_The_ Clever and MP. Sorry, Guys

Uhhhh, one problem....I never said this. How does a guy get 2 separate votes from people who believe he wants to be voted, "according to" other people? That sounds eerily like a Trumpism - "You know, this Russ guy, I'm not saying he wants to be voted, but a lot of people seem to be going around saying how much Russ would like to be voted, and when a lot of people say it, there's a tremendous amount of truth there. You didn't hear from me that Russ wants to be voted, but boy are there sure a lot of people saying that."Elohcin wrote:goodness, this page is being nutso. Re: Romance of the Three Kingdoms [Day 4]
A four way duel? This is an interesting outcome. Not one I like much... I really don't think Russti or Glorfindel should be in there at least.
Voting for TWO people who say they want to be voted for also doesn't make much sense, because for instance the reason MP wants to be voted for is only to defeat someone who is bad. I don't want to presume everyone suggesting people vote for them must be good, but on the whole its a good way of absconding any need to find baddies and that's bad.

Day 5: An Act of Retaliation Fails; a Mute is Repaid Unkindly
舌
The last chapter told of how Rico Chet fell to the menace of Meng Huo. This chapter shall relay how Tur Niphead met the same fate.Tur Niphead had been at the same gathering as Rico Chet, and he trembled with anger at how Meng Huo had treated a guest. Plotting retaliation, Tur Niphead gathered a small army and prepared to bring Nanzhong to ruin.
One of the men who was considering his plot against the Nanman king was Son Eji, a mute. He sent a messenger to Tur Niphead, and the message said for Tur Niphead to come visit him at night, because he had valuable information regarding the best way to navigate the jungles of Nanzhong. Tur Niphead agreed to the meeting.
Son Eji gave him a map and traced with a long fingernail, showing Tur Niphead the most efficient way to attack Meng Huo’s forces. Tur Niphead made obeisance and expressed his gratitude for the information. The information lead to his defeat, because the way Son Eji pointed out was in fact well-guarded and supplied. Tur Niphead and most of his men were cut down in the attempt.
Son Eji met with Zhang Bao the next day. “You have done well,” Zhang Bao said to the relief of the mute. “As I promised, I will make your tongue regain purpose.” Zhang Bao made a strange motion over the head of the grateful Son Eji, and soon the latter began choking. Zhang Bao proclaimed, “Your tongue will indeed regain purpose. You will choke to death on it and no one will know of our scheme.”
Whether or not Zhang Bao escaped after this cruel deed will be made plain in the next chapter.
Soneji has been killed by the Yellow Turbans.
Turnip Head has been killed by the Nanman.
It is now Day 4. You have 48 hours and two votes each to decide who will be in the fourth duel.

Re: Romance of the Three Kingdoms [Day 5]
I'd like to say I find it notable that MovingPictures and TheCapsFan both voted for each other to be prefects. (and they both also voted for jjj )
I'll likely be voting for CapsFan today since I think he voted for one of his teammates in the prefect poll.

Re: Romance of the Three Kingdoms [Day 5]
I could get behind a caps fan vote. As I stated last round, I have found him suspicious. I also still suspect glorf.
As for suspicion of me, yes I'm tunneling. It's what I do. I'm also stubborn. That seemed to be the gist of suspicion of me. I'm not sure how to defend it. Yes, I did that. But it's not indicitive of anything other than I'm playing the game.

Re: Romance of the Three Kingdoms [Day 5]
Good work on lynching the suicidal moron.
I think the Nanmans are full of people who aren't posting very much, hence the high profile targets.
@LoRab - I need to take a good look at you today. For most of the game, I've felt you are engaged town and I've been sort of thinking 'its great that LoRab clearly has plenty of time to play'. It's just that yesterday really bothered me. I think you really are wrong on Glorfindel.

Re: Romance of the Three Kingdoms [Day 4]
Please, tell me, my friend - given the FACT that MP qualifies as a suitably qualified player to be part of a Mafia team, given the FACT that his participation this game could generously be described as sporadic, given the FACT that approximately 40% of eligible players did not vote last Day phase and some appear to have disappeared off the planet altogether - would you say that the likelihood of an absent Mafia team (at least on Night 1) might be MORE likely?LoRab wrote:Possible, yes. Probable, no? I mean, really, you've played many games. You've played many large games. Have you ever, in your entire mafia history, seen that happen?nutella wrote:Also, lack of precedence does not mean lack of probability. There's probably a fancy logical fallacy term for that but idgaf. Just because you've never seen an inactive mafia team before doesn't mean it couldn't happen, especially considering the Yellow Turban team only consists of three players, and this game has WAY more than three inactive players. They only killed once, and it was on SVS, an inactive player -- perhaps if nobody in the team had been paying attention they wouldn't know SVS hadn't been participating and just picked her to get rid of. Idk, I just think Glorfindel's lines of thinking are not entirely unreasonable
In the past 8 years, I can't even count how many games I've played. Several dozen. I can't be far off from 100 games, but I don't keep track any more. My point is that I have never seen that happen. Ever. And I've been in really big games. And I've seen proportionally small mafias. I have never seen an entire no show team. So, no, it doesn't seem like the more likely or evvey very likely possibility.

Re: Romance of the Three Kingdoms [Day 5]
@Glorfindel... I don't think so.
MP would never miss PMs, so I'd say that MP being in that team means your theory is more likely to be incorrect no matter how sporadic his thread contributions might appear. But - question... is it possible they only get one kill every two nights?

Re: Romance of the Three Kingdoms [Day 5]
Please do look at me. I may be wrong on glorf. But my opinion still stands. I will also admit that this past week was a really stressful week at work and I had a lot going on and wasn't feeling great. Especially the end of the week, and Sunday was a major deadline for me for a lot of things. My stress probably came through in my posts.Golden wrote:Good work on lynching the suicidal moron.

I'm now happily on vacation. So my playing time will be limited, but I'm able to relax, and perhaps have some new insights. And I seem to have cell service at least sporadically, so that's good. I'll be able to pop on when I have a free moment here and there.
Linkitis: no. I still think it highly improbable. Especially on day 1.

Re: Romance of the Three Kingdoms [Day 5]
Interesting. Thank you for answering that for me Golden. And no. The relevant Yellow Turban role thingy says specifically that they have a NK each night. The fact that when they use it, they kill inactives like S-V-S and Soneji seems strange (to me at least...)Golden wrote:@Glorfindel... I don't think so.

Re: Romance of the Three Kingdoms [Day 5]
ayyyyy I was right for a change!
b-b-but Quin, you haven't talked about MP since like Day 2!
Shut up!
---
Anyway, I support a TCF lynch. Glorfindel is nearly always on the latter half of the major bandwagons. Let's talk about that.
I wish they would stop killing all of the active players

Pleasantly surprised at the lynch result!! Nice.
RIP TH Weird that the YTs have killed another non-player.

Re: Romance of the Three Kingdoms [Day 5]
Reading back, I notice that 3J pretty vehemently opposed my case against MP. He even declared MP one of his top town reads at one point.
I'm coming around to the idea that 3J may have been bad. Would anyone care to pursue this avenue with me?

Re: Romance of the Three Kingdoms [Day 5]
Apologies once again for the second bout of inactivity. Just climbed my way out of the Tartarus that is summer assignments. Senior year. Four AP classes. Lots of work. Yada yada yada.
I'm town. How could I have known that MP was bad? I voted for two people that I've played with before, once. I didn't (and still don't) know what "prefect" even was.Sorsha wrote:I'd like to say I find it notable that MovingPictures and TheCapsFan both voted for each other to be prefects. Re: Romance of the Three Kingdoms [Day 5]
Scenario: We've lynched all but one of a team's baddie, (let's use yellow turbans because that probably resonates most with MP's flip). We spend a number of phases linking interactions between members of the yellow turbans to scumhunt without realising that the nanmans killed the last member three nights ago.Sorsha wrote:I was thinking the same thing when I saw that CapsFan and MP both voted jjj for prefect. Plainly, it's of benefit to us to have an idea of the identity of any baddies that have been killed by the other team so we can avoid wasting lynches on an already dead baddie team. Of course, we shouldn't operate under the assumption that this is the case, but ..yeah.

Re: Romance of the Three Kingdoms [Day 5]
Oh, okay.. I thought we would be told when one team was eliminated so I was just thinking of seeing how Caps flips so I didn't think we would still be trying to hunt Yellow Turbans after being told they were all dead.Quin wrote:Scenario: We've lynched all but one of a team's baddie, (let's use yellow turbans because that probably resonates most with MP's flip). Oh right, of course, my bad. I believe that some other players have brought up suspicions of you yesterday, you could probably address those if you want to change our minds.TheCapsFan wrote:Apologies once again for the second bout of inactivity.
