That's how I feel. I'm hesitant to say all the strong town reads cause of that thing with you me and Wigly in ME. That's what the two mafia game balance relies on.

If that makes me a less useful dead townie after getting nked, so be it. I don't think I'm getting nightkilled immediately.

Who would you have decided. Say now before the ninja post.
Too late anyway, but I honestly don't know. I was kind of thinking about voting for Jack or Sprityo, but most likely wouldn't have affected the final decision in any case. I briefly considered joining the Made wagon but I ultimately agreed with you that he looked town and some of the votes on him look opportunistic/sketchy.
Why?

Do you think Sprityo and I are w/w?

Not sharing my strong town reads because I don't think that would help the town. See what Jack said above. If it comes up, I'll say something, but there isn't much of a reason to do it now. Especially before the next day begins.

Take two games for example:

ASOUE: Epi created an off board townie alliance while the mafias shot each other all night. The town lynched less than half the mafia members and won easily.

Mass Effect: Confirmed townies were clear. The mafias only killed townies. The town lynched mafia like 80% of the time and lost.

Key town strategy in high scum % games is to not flat out confirm townies so the mafia can't turn a strong town performance into a town loss or capitalize on a weak town performance.

We want the mafias to shoot each other. So don't go painting targets. In single mafia games, I'm of the opposite opinion.

Made seems suspicious to me for going after an easy target.

Then again, other people seem to be seizing this as an excuse to make Made into an easy target.

However, this is a game with two mafias, so both occurrences could turn out to be legitimately baddie-driven.

No matter how you slice the cookie crumbles, I'm leaning towards voting Made.

Also not a fan of the sprityo vote

@Jack - you can normally rely on some natural nightkill attrition in multi-scum games, but you can't refuse to help each other solve the game to the extent it undermines our ability to catch baddies. I've been part of games where, after a couple of baddies down, the teams join into a single team and you never hear about it. You can't fully rely on mechanics.

Besides, just because we agree someone is town doesn't mean they are. We might just as well be pushing the mafia into killing one of the opposite mafia by accident.

Unhelpful questions, dodging my questions, dodgy play in general. Not a lot of content, IMO. Worth a vote more than the current lynch targets, at any rate. Don't like it? Suggest your own targets and get something done. Peace.

linki: hahaha don't vote Jack pls
Why so? I don't see you defending him in previous posts, other than an unexplained :) in your gut read list. Jack even admits that his argument defending the lololol was "the dumbest argument I have ever made in a mafia game." I see a lot of proactive defense from him as well, asking to be pinged and whatnot.

Also, I don't think the Rico push has much merit. In a game with this many secrets, it's not unreasonable to have smiley-only posting for a bit. Admittedly, I've seen a lot done with that, and he's not making any effort to contribute within that limitation.

Neverwhere is interesting. Says she looks forward to playing with Made, then votes him for "making a joke of everything" as unhelpful play. Even though Rico's play is objectively less helpful and she makes jokes like "Puppies pee on everything." Could be projection.

Linki: Spirit, you're putting words in Jack's mouth. Asking you what you think about me could indicate suspicion of me; it could also be an attempt to pry info from you. And not admitting that possibility is deflection.

Throwing some side-eye shade at this post.

Why would secrets be in play when we haven't had a night period yet?

Neverwhere responded to Made saying nice to meet you, why wouldn't she engage in those pleasantries. Why would it be suspicious that she would vote for someone she wanted to play with anyway? Shouldn't you vote for who you thnk is bad even if you do want to play with them?
Day 1 sucks because there's so many players and not a whole lot of content to go on. It was the middle of the night my time and I was scrambling to put a vote on someone.

Exactly what Golden said.

I didn't have much of a read on anyone, no one was pinging me hugely. Made kept making jokey lists of reads of people and I thought that it could possibly be deflection. I thought about voting someone who had barely posted, but then thought maybe not. If I were mafia I'd want to represent a little to avoid lynchings like that. Most of the games I've played have seen low posters lynched the first couple of days.

@Neverwhere, that doesn't tackle the comparison Boomslang made between Made and Rico. There were also plenty of people not contributing through outright non-contribution (Timmer, Dom). So why Made, when Made had actual content to sort through?

But then, the only other mafia game I've played with two teams was a closed setup. We didn't know about the two teams till late.

I usually read Jack as scum (in the what, 1 or 2 games we've played). It isn't happening this game. I have no reason to believe Jack is scum, no pings or anything. If Jack is town, which I believe to be the case, he'll be an experienced asset.

If you come up with some actual reasons to lynch him we can look into that on D2 or 3.

linki: w/w means wolf/wolf. Means that the two are both on the same scumteam.
Terrible term, btw, since few of our games are werewolf games. I usually use the term "knowingly aligned" or just "aligned" since town people don't have strong connections to each other. We could even say "scummates". Anything but w/w.

To answer the other question I was super torn as to who to vote for. Probably someone like timmer or another low poster.

If Ricochet was scum I don't get why they would be drawing attention to themselves this early in the game. I am curious as to why they were still posting in smilies after the deadline.

You can look into me all you want, but I warn you I have evening classes tonight so the likelihood of me being able to discuss or answer your questions this evening is slim.

Bad, I thought I had made that clear. Unless you meant something else. What are you referring to in regards to quality-of-play? I don't believe that I have spoken in regards to Golden's quality of play, rather is style of play and where his thoughts are.

You refer to meta as boring crap, why? Also along this thought, is quality-of-play not a factor in forming a read?

Boring meta crap. I doubt you two are aligned, if that's any help. I'm more interested in what your read on Golden is. And I mean read, not quality-of-play analysis.

Stuff like "You're being defensive because I usually suspect you"
"Defensive against what?"
"What reason do you have for posting this?"
"You are satisfied for the wrong reasons"

None of this is about alignment, so far as I can tell. Just bickering. Some of it about meta. And meta is boring because A. I'm new here and don't know anyone's meta good enough to speak on it, and B. Talking about past games doesn't speak to alignment.

I'm interested in what you think about Golden because you are familiar with them. But talking about past experience and about the way Golden is playing doesn't say anything about your alignment, and it's full of arguments I wouldn't be able to follow.

And no, quality-of-play is not a factor in forming a read, unless it's a tell for that person.

To be short:

Meta is alignment indicative.
Talking about meta is not.
I cannot read meta for players I don't know well.
Quality of play is not alignment indicative without meta.

Wilgy, why do you think Rico is bad?
Golden, what is your current read on Wilgy and Rico?

Terrible term, btw, since few of our games are werewolf games. I usually use the term "knowingly aligned" or just "aligned" since town people don't have strong connections to each other. We could even say "scummates". Anything but w/w.
Hmm... Thank you for the explanation. This raises further questions for TSP.
I use w/w. I don't know what questions that raises.

I don't have any really prime suspects, but I have some pretty strong town reads on a few people.
That's how I feel. I'm hesitant to say all the strong town reads cause of that thing with you me and Wigly in ME. That's what the two mafia game balance relies on.
TSP, I'd like for you to explain. Why does a staggered lynch lead to having town reads or clears for both me and Rico? where does this perspective come from and do players having different vote values change this at all?
I don't have particularly town reads on you or Rico, so it doesn't lead to me that. What I meant is that if you or Rico flip Maf, we have some clear leads.

"You're being defensive because I usually suspect you"
"Defensive against what?"
- If I'm correct in regards to what you are referring to, Golden had brought up this meta based assumption, and I questioned where it came from... (which I don't think had a response. I flipped through his ISO and I didn't see anything I may have missed.)
"What reason do you have for posting this?"
- Every post has a reason, it's up to civilians to determine if posts have malicious reasoning behind it or not.
"You are satisfied for the wrong reasons"
- This was in regards to Golden being snarky and throwing assumptions as fact. This also lead to further unanswered questions from Golden.

These questions and answers (or lack of) are leaving me to believe that Golden is bad. I believe he's trying to replicate a supatown Golden, but his views and angles are coming from something that is not a hunter.
"Made is town"
"Neverwhere is town"
"I think Dom is bad, but I will not persuade others"

Golden priority isn't hunting. He's existing, assuming, but not hunting.

Generally, in a 2 mafia game, I'd ignore this as both teams should be hunting, but I do believe that scum will play in a more self centered fashion early. Golden, seems to fit that.

Golden wrote: Wed Jul 19, 2017 12:30 am @Jack - you can normally rely on some natural nightkill attrition in multi-scum games, but you can't refuse to help each other solve the game to the extent it undermines our ability to catch baddies. I've been part of games where, after a couple of baddies down, the teams join into a single team and you never hear about it. You can't fully rely on mechanics.

Besides, just because we agree someone is town doesn't mean they are. We might just as well be pushing the mafia into killing one of the opposite mafia by accident.
I don't disagree with any of this. Couple odd turns of phrase, here. Implying I'm going "refuse" do do anything but "rely" on mechanics.
DrWilgy wrote: Wed Jul 19, 2017 10:13 am Someone explain w/w to me.

@Neverwhere, that doesn't tackle the comparison Boomslang made between Made and Rico. There were also plenty of people not contributing through outright non-contribution (Timmer, Dom). So why Made, when Made had actual content to sort through?

If 3 people would be so kind. Please let me know your thoughts regarding my exchanges with Golden.
T/T.

If only one of you is bad, Golden is, but not because of his interactions with you. Rather, his pushes do feel somewhat twisty and noncommittal. Like a raptor testing fences, if you will.

Agreed with speedchuck's ponder. Driving discussion to the meta always seems like a cop-out for content generation.

Why that many "ol" additions the first time? Possible tell that you were thinking too hard about that post, and baddies must generate content whole-cloth. Could be an indication of teamwork, again playing off meta.
Golden wrote: Tue Jul 18, 2017 6:03 pm I hope Timmer knows it's game on.

I'm currently mulling over a few people. Boomslang. Rico-omeletteaufromage. Dom. Sprityo. Jack. Why should I not vote you folks.
Because I'm a quiet, thoughtful individual with Night Vale's best interests at heart.
Ignoring Boom's post, I ask Sprityo what he thinks of Boom. Sprityo defends Boom, saying I'm being paranoid, like in ME.

1) I didn't say I suspected Boom
2) I was not paranoid in ME. I successfully called out several mafia players and townies. I lead two mislynches because I was bad. There was exactly one person I seriously suspected of being bad in that game that was not and it was because I had mechanically narrowed it down to one of two players being the last opposing baddie. So I'm being paranoid just like....that time that I was not being paranoid.
