More to come later, but...
I was specifically asking you for your response first because I knew certain players could not get contraband; I never once said I never got anything.

Where did I say this?johns2jj wrote:So if you look at the poll info and only me and MP voted "correctly" but MP states he did not receive cigarets does that not point to him being someone who can not receive contraband therefore a baddie.Epignosis wrote:The Day 0 poll results (assuming there are any) may be discussed.MovingPictures07 wrote:In fact, @Epig: We can indeed discuss (any, assuming there are any) results from the Day 0 poll, correct?

Breakfast
This morning in the cafeteria there was a lot of clamor over a spilled tray. One of the new fish evidently bumped into Brass and knocked his breakfast on the floor. It gets pretty crowded in there, and tempers have a way of flaring up in a crowd, even early in the morning when there’s been no coffee to fuel someone’s rage.Brass said he was cut the throat of whichever son of a bitch bumped into him. This led to all sorts of finger pointing and accusations from the new fish.
Millard, who’d worked in the kitchen for as long as I could remember, whipped up a new tray real quick and got Brass to calm down. Millard even offered him an extra biscuit if he’d keep the peace. I was surprised to see Brass cool off over a stale biscuit, but that’s just what he did.
No one has been lynched. It is now Night 1. You have 24 hours to send in your PMs.

The Book Cart
Most nights in Shawshank are pretty quiet. People can talk shit all they want to behind bars, but they know they’ll lose that protection in the morning. So a lot of us keep to ourselves in the evenings. Some of us like to read. Well, we don’t like to read, but we learned to like it. If the moon is just right or if your window is exposed to one of those bright prison lights along the wall, you can even read yourself to sleep.
We have a decent little library here. Each evening the cart comes around we can choose to take a book or not. The selection is limited, but I don’t mind. I just read one at a time.
The cart’s coming around now. There’s only one copy of each book, by the way. What book do you take?

Re: [Day 1] The Shawshank Redemption Mafia
Well, god dammit. Looks like Epig is doing his whole "ties = no lynch" deal. I guess that could be good, BUT, I still feel MR's behavior is not seeming civvie-like at the moment.
I am REALLY bothered by JJ's post. I love giving the newbies the BOTD, but for someone that showed previously hardly any knowledge of game mechanics, for him to come in and say that, specifically when I NEVER stated I didn't receive anything is very highly suspect to me.
How is that an excuse or a cop-out? You were the only one I even had any read on. Of course, now given what has happened, that has changed.
And even funnier you "NO U" me at the end there. How is this my baddie game?

You subtly pushed more commentary on Mongoose. It's much more likely baddie behavior than actually coming out, starting the suspicion against her, etc.Mister Rearranger wrote:2. I never pushed for Mongoose. My "elephant in the room" comment was with regards to a push for her that I already found suspect. Now that she has responded, I do not think we should lynch her or Llama today.MovingPictures07 wrote:I have to vote now.
As much as I hate to do it (because I love playing with you, MR, and it's so great you're back), I am voting for MR.
1. His "after 1 full reread" post strikes me as opportunistic and trying too hard, combined with the fact that he cannot seem to elaborate why he finds anyone more suspicious than anyone else, even after I asked.
2. His subtle pushing of Mongoose for a ridiculous reason seems possibly suspect. Even more possibly suspect is how he completely abandoned it.
3. His vote of rey, which as far as I can tell is completely unexplained in addition to his "vibe"-esque baddie read on me, just makes no sense.
4. Llama actually made a gambit/paranoid type post I sort of find some sort of value with for once! I do feel MR was specifically avoiding llama possibly for the exact reasons llama stated.
5. I really have no solid opinion or read on anyone else at this point, frankly.
votes MR
Sorry, bud, but only if you are a civvie. If you're bad, good riddance. :P
5. After points 1, 3, and 4, your excuse-making is kind of a cop-out.
6. A vote for me would not be wise. Funny how you're catching so much heat in the other game, because I think THIS is you on your baddie isht.![]()
1, 2, 3, 4, tell me that you love me more.

I don't think he did, but BWT keeps pretty busy with work, and his performance in the K-Site game is honestly one of the most vocal, if not the most, I've ever seen from him.FZ. wrote:One other question:

Claiming *Game of Thrones* as my book!
Interesting that there was no lynch, though I know Epi does like to do that in games he hosts so I'm not sure what to make of that.
Epi, was the lack of death your usual tie situation or did something happen you can't tell us about?
Linki - MP, do you also feel like there may have been a save of MR attempted?

In fact, this just seems so weird to me. I mean, look at my posts on the topic:
If someone can point that out to me, that'd be great. Because... maybe I was ambiguous and don't realize it. BUT to me it seems clear as blue. I specifically was waiting on saying something.

Still by this point he's said NOTHING about it. And those are my only posts on the matter. Then, he answers:MovingPictures07 wrote:I understand. He's still new. I remember what it was like to be new. My all time favorite Rush song. I was so stoked they played it when I saw them live.MovingPictures07 wrote:THE MORE THAT THINGS CHANGE...Epignosis wrote:ALL THE SAME WE TAKE OUR CHANCES

And I love that song too. I don't think I have an all time favorite Rush song (impossible), but I've seen them play that song live once and it was great!!
Linkitis with MR: That's pretty typical for Mongoose, truth be told. Why those players particularly (with regards to all three groupings)? And I voted for llama.
In which one of those posts do I say I never received anything or ANYTHING about my results from Day 0?MovingPictures07 wrote:I PMed the host. Re: [Night 1] The Shawshank Redemption Mafia
I picked Animal Farm by the way.
Also, as to the Lizzy votes, I thought some of those were strange... so if there was a save of MR, you could say maybe that contributed as well.
We all know Lizzy, Vomps, and sometimes AP play REALLY odd games, at least, those of us around here. I am with llama in that I disagree entirely that a self-vote makes much sense, BUT I have used it when trying to make a point, and I've given up trying to rationalize any behavior that Lizzy or Vomps do. They are the polar opposite of "rational" mafia players. It makes them fun! But it also makes them practically impossible to read.
You know, I don't know. It seems like a pretty solid theory, but honestly, I'm feeling much more sure about JJ than I am MR at this point. I am trying to be reasonable and give him the BOTD, but I really truly think we caught a first-time baddie here.Bullzeye wrote:Claiming *Game of Thrones* as my book!

Re: [Night 1] The Shawshank Redemption Mafia
You could be right about JJ, I dunno. Haven't given him or his comments much thought. I do think it was odd the way the votes came in after I put mine on MR, it kinda made me more confident about my choice. I do fully agree with your assessment of Lizzy, Vomp, and AP. They're great people, but completely loopyMovingPictures07 wrote:I picked Animal Farm by the way.

I have handled ties in various ways, but in this scenario, that is the case. If there is a tie, there will be no lynch. It's one of several reasons why participants may change their votes up to the deadline.Bullzeye wrote:Epi, was the lack of death your usual tie situation or did something happen you can't tell us about?

Picked my favorite from the list.
@MP: Had I given an opinion on Mongoose before she returned, she could have used that opinion to her advantage, regardless of allignment. Try to paint patience as a baddie technique all you want, it's not. Reactions to it are what I'll be looking at.

I love Epi's no-ties, no lynch deal!
Anyway, whatthe ehfajkl I have so much to say about how all the voting went down. I need some time though.
I am voting To Kill a Mockingbird because I went to law school (and currently do legal pro bono work) because of Atticus Finch.
I know you were probably thinking I would pick either that or Animal Farm, and I see no need to start surprising you now.

Re: [Night 1] The Shawshank Redemption Mafia
At least it happened D1, typically not a good result anyways. Plus, in this case I think the most compelling thing going into D2 for voting only came out like 20 minutes before the lynch ended. Flying blind as to anything useful, but better no dead civs then one dead and what realistically would probably have been info gained that was only useful in the short-term if at all.thellama73 wrote:I hate it! All that assuming the lynch was headed in the direction of a civ, so it's a generality, and in this case I'm not sure it holds up since I think early votes had found the right person, and it could have been clinched towards the end, but it's really way to soon for any kind of certainty, so it still works for me.

I take a shower and come back to see all the good books are taken. I was going to pick the brother Karamazov or animal farm because it seemed fitting to read in jail...you know, learn from others' experience
Is this a real poll? Do we have to choose something? Can we pick something that was already picked?
And can I say it sucks that there was no lynch?

I wonder if people were avoiding choosing sides wanting a tie to prevent a lynch. If so, there are a few reasons to do so I can think of. But I'm too tired to talk about them, so I'll just go to bed.

I was the second person to vote and never changed my vote so honestly if I had realized I needed to save someone couldn't I have just changed my vote. I still think MP is a baddie but it is just a feeling now as before it was a mistake. I wish I had come back and changed my vote. Now though I will say I used my cigs because I figured I would be a target for the warden and do not want to lose my future votes.

Re: [Night 1] The Shawshank Redemption Mafia
Sorry I haven't been around, like, at all. I'm in 3 games right now (1 of which I haven't even posted or looked at the thread any yet), and the one I'm in on K-Site has taken up most of my free time in mafia. I'm not quite as busy until Friday though, so it should give me some time to get my bearings here.
To be honest, I'm fairly lost right now and don't really have any strong feelings of anyone or anything yet. From here on in, hopefully I can contribute a bit more and start to get some groundings.

Re: [Night 1] The Shawshank Redemption Mafia
As for my book, all the ones from the list that I've actually read have already been picked. So I'm selecting Dubliners because it's the only other one I know anything about. And because James Joyce is awesome.

Re: [Night 1] The Shawshank Redemption Mafia
I went to the first page to the roles to see if any items were listed. After re-reading through it, these are my thoughts:
Well if he really used a cigarette (and we believe that), we can guess he's not Shawshank personnel as they cannot receive contraband, per the role list.

You've gone to painstaking lengths to demonstrate that you know this from rereading the role page instead of because you are a member of Shawshank Personnel.Mongoose wrote:I went to the first page to the roles to see if any items were listed. After re-reading through it, these are my thoughts:

I'm not sure you know what painstaking means, ace. I always quote something from the role page because I read the role page, son. If anything, I was just glad no one said they thought he was trying too hard to prove he was civ by touting his contraband-gathering abilities.
Fun fact: I really am known for reading re-reading the rules of things. At Dirty Santa the other night, my friend asked me to explain the rules because I had read them so many times, I was able to recite them verbatim from memory.
I'm a little bit of a nut but I hate being an inadvertent rule violator.

That's inane, man. I am making observations. Epi's games always features items more heavily than a lot of other games, so it's always good to read the role list. It's so weird that you are honing in on such a random statement.
Also something else but I'm watching TV and forgot.

It's not that you read the role list, it's that you pointed out that you read it twice in the same post, which seemed overly cautious. I'm convinced I caught you in a slip.Mongoose wrote:That's inane, man. I am making observations. Did I say it twice? I really shouldn't ever mafia when I'm watching TV because I'm not as succinct as I'd like.

I don't see Mongoose's post as a slip. I am constantly re-reading the roles as well as the game plays out.

Why wouldn't she? Baddies defend civs all the time. If they only defended other baddies, it would be really easy to get all of them once we got one.Elohcin wrote:why would she defend JJ as civ then?
