Re: [Day 8] The Shawshank Redemption Mafia
Sorry to replace into a game and be so silent thus far. Posting from a Nook doesn't lend itself to massive case-building.
I'll agree with the 'Goose push. Though J2JJ definitely seems to have uncanny luck with people saving him from majority vote. :/
*Votes Mongoose*
And Epi: Thanks for extending the deadline!

Guardian Angels
My mother believed in guardian angels. She would tell me about them when I was a boy, that I had one watching over me, protecting me.I wish I could believe her. I can't say I've been protected as I would be, if indeed there was somebody up there keeping an eye on me. And I can't say other people have been protected either if it were true for them. Or maybe the angels are a lot like us. Unreliable. Spiteful. Maybe even the angels need a smoke break now and again.
Coming to Shawshank, though, did soil my perception of guards a little bit.
Guards are supposed to protect something. Keep it safe. "The guards in prison are supposed to protect the outside world from you cons," I can hear you saying. I suppose that's fair enough.
I didn't see any guardian angels in that riot this morning. Just fed up prisoners with improvised weapons having their way with someone they long believed to be a great threat to them. It was clear they'd had about enough.
Nope- no guardian angels at all.
Mongoose has been lynched. She was Captain Byron Hadley.

Re: [Day 8] The Shawshank Redemption Mafia
Capital Punishment
According to a book I read from the prison library, Maine hasn't had the death penalty since 1887. Twenty-one people were executed in this part of the country, all of them for murder except one, who was convicted of treason. The last person they hanged was Daniel Wilkinson, a fugitive. He died slowly of strangulation because his noose wasn't tied properly. This fueled the ire of the abolitionists who said capital punishment was wrong, and two years later, they got their wish.Even some of the convicts who are here on lesser chargers are in favor of it. They imagine, I suppose, that they'd have fewer black eyes and fewer sleepless nights.
Well, what do you think? Should Maine bring back the death penalty?
It is now Night 8. You have 24 hours to send in your PMs.

Voting against the death penalty because it's what Batman would do. Mongoose and Boo being teammates is interesting, who do people think might be their third?

YES! What a great result! One NK down.
Very glad we could organize a successful lynch.
Voted no on the death penalty. It costs the state roughly 3x as much as seeking a life sentence, is enforced arbitrarily and in a racist manner based on the color of the victim, and cannot be reversed if evidence of innocence is found after a conviction.

To be honest, I didn't keep up with the game, post death. :/ I am very busy. My read was quick and sloppy. I hadn't read a thing since I had died. I find BWT and JJ suspicious, but that's about it.S~V~S wrote:So Dom, sometimes I find that when i am dead, i suddenly see things more clearly. Did you have any deadie epiphanies?
SVS, remind me who you're looking at again. I'm trusting you big time in this game and thought your read on boo was spot on. Perhaps I'll go back and read them, if time permits.

TBH, I am not sure about Teef. He is certainly not trying, that is sure. I have not had BTS with him~ does he tend to flake on his team>? Becasue i would tend to view "disinterested/giving up" to the degree that he is saying is the case with him, as more of a civ phenomena than a bad one where you have people depending on you. But some people do give up even in a team situation, i just don't know of he is one of them.

I had BTSC with him once in Avant Garde Mafia 2. It was like a year ago, so asking me to remember what he was like is stretching me thin :P I remember thoroughly enjoying my btsc in that game, though. We won. That's all I have.S~V~S wrote:TBH, I am not sure about Teef. He is certainly not trying, that is sure. I have not had BTS with him~ does he tend to flake on his team>? I think you have a valid point, but I see him not so much "giving up" as trying to stay aloof. I dunno. :/

B: Dom, other points against BwIT seem valid, but picking apart that statement seems like a bit of straw-grasping. I've been getting mislynched for saying crap like that since Dexter, surely you recall.

Everybody Needs Friends
Sorsha was alone, sobbing quietly. I don't know why.A voice came up from behind her, "Did you ever have a friend you could talk to?"
Sorsha nodded.
"Everybody needs friends. I could be a friend to you."
When Sorsha realized the danger, seeing others approach on one side or the other, a scream shot up through the corridors. I heard it.
Sorsha has been killed by Bogs Diamond. It is now Day 9. You have 24 hours to lynch someone.
