Check that your timezone is correct in ucp/ if post timestamps are correct then you're good. But DST is ending p soon so keep that in mind when that happens

How is it? I loved most of Revolver but I thought Redemption was basically junk. Had that GTA disease wherein the story was told during long uneventful trips from place to place, combat was all about aim lock autowins, gathering flowers was stupid, teleporting mountain lions were stupid and the ending was like

what if the government decided to send an entire army after a retired bounty hunter for absolutely no reason?
But I’m open to RDR3 being good.

Potential GOTY in my opinion. It's a prequel to the last Redemption game, not sure if Revolver is relevant as I never played that one. A lot of Redemption 1 characters show up including John and his family. Gameplay wise quite similar but vastly improved in every way. I've got probably 25-30 hours total playtime by now and have only just reached the beginning of Chapter Three, apparently there's six in total from what I've heard. Not encountered a single mountain lion and aim lock isn't really a thing at all. My only problems with it are minor, overall I've really enjoyed it. Story is great but there's enough open world to get lost for hours just doing random stuff, there are side missions and secrets all over the place. The map is huge, it includes all of the previous Redemption's map but I've barely even been on that side and have still explored a huge chunk of the world.

This seems to be a recurring theme with you. Why?
I’m not sure what you mean by this remark, Quin? My personal view is that Jay is a fellow of superior intellect and capable of analysis far beyond that of mere mortals. On that basis, if he’s Town, I’d much prefer him on our side. If by some fluke he’s bad, he’ll reveal himself later down the track. I think he’s far more useful to us alive.

If you were by some chance referring to my last game here with Golden, I’ll confess - I do so wish he was playing this game. It would make my decision here infinitely easier.
Sure. On that same basis, if he's bad, I'd much prefer him dead. How do you think he'll reveal himself? Do you have any scum-3J tells to share?

I think there's a recurring theme when you play mafia where you prefer not to lynch the people you get along well with. That's normal, I'm not trying to tell you off or anything. But at the same time I think you need to be more mindful that we only get so much time in a game and we can't spend it protecting the people we like.

Or maybe I'm completely wrong about you.

Putting his usefulness if he's a civilian aside, do you actually think he is a civilian?
Au contraire, my dear Quin! In Mafia as in life, it is critically important to protect those assets that we value and hold most dear. I am surprised that (from your comment) it appears that you don’t agree? And no, you oughtn’t ‘tell me off’ for holding a point of view that is entirely valid. And yes, I do believe Jay to be a civilian - I wouldn’t have said what I did about him if I didn’t.

I can’t remember who said it (Quin?) but on my drive home I couldn’t escape the post where someone said Jay looked like he was doing Jay things, but it felt fake and insincere. It was in reference to the juliets brouhaha. I can try and quote it later, but I’m putting my vote there today.

Hi everyone -

Could someone tell me what it is about Long Con that is landing him so many votes? I scanned back through the thread but nothing jumped out at me, but I feel like there must be something big I'm missing.

I tend to believe that Owner did get confused about the Dark Arts and Deathly Hallows. There is a lot of content in the set-up and I know I can't remember it all.

I already mentioned I was civ in the thread in a more normal context but I don't mind saying it again - I am civ or if you prefer, I am town.

I am toying with the idea of voting for Jay for what he said in the post where he voted for Quin. It just seemed to lack normal logic or something and I don't think of that as a civ Jay trait. I'll re-read him when I come back.

Be back later.
JaggedJimmyJay wrote: Sat Aug 21, 2021 3:24 pm Always good to remember that there is no such thing as a Mafia circumstance that is worth real human emotion. Sometimes it will naturally come out, but it can be contained if we just remember that this is a game on a message board forum that 99.99% of the population of the Earth has never heard of before. No matter how successful anyone is, it means just about nothing.

insertnamehere wrote: Mon Oct 29, 2018 1:06 pm Alright, I'm now caught up.

Most of the Day so far has just been two different squabbles over semantics. The whole Epi-Juliets thing has been more or less baffling in its scattershot legitimacy. It's the kind of thing that JJJ usually pushes, except with less actual substance, which makes me a tad sus of JJJ. Then there's the whole Owner/DH thing. It definitely feels like Owner is stuck replaying Firefly, while the rest of us are playing a new game. This regression could be scummy or not, depends on what else Owner decides to bring to the table. So far, I ain't impressed.

Wormtail was a Gryffindor.
Even the dark wizards refused to accept Wormtail
Still betrayed all his closest friends for the Dark Lord's cause and played a crucial role in restoring Voldy to full power. Seems pretty Dark to me. The man was a coward, motivated only by fear and self-preservation. I always saw him as being the opposite end of the scale from Snape.

Yeah, tbh it's happened before/more and more in recent months and I don't really think it's alignment indicative

insertnamehere wrote: Mon Oct 29, 2018 1:06 pm Alright, I'm now caught up.

I don't recall inh getting so direct and on point early like this, but thank you for calling attention to this post. It mirrors what I was wondering about owner but i also dig the jjj thoughts as well, as I'm going to be relying on people's familiarity with styles, at least early on.
My siggie.

Done re-reading. Nothing odd from what I see of Juliet-Epi-Quin interaction.

I've noticed there is a lot of confusion regarding the Veritaserum potion so I've remade the description of it to make it clearer.

This feels like the most anti-Town post I’ve read so far... I really don’t like these two early wagons (Jay and LC). I see no case against either of them.

I wish I had meta on you. I can read this post both ways, but part me, kind of wants to read you town for it. Could Glorfindel be with jay? Or enjoys playing with friends thing?
My town meta is "Wrongfully call out four scumslips, get overly full of myself and lose the game for the civilians."

My mafia meta is "Wrongfully call out six scumslips, get overly full of myself and get voted best mafioso 2k16."

karavalenge wrote: Mon Oct 29, 2018 12:26 pm Can we use it to make a statement that we don't know if it's true or false?

Like: There are a Prime Number of Death Eaters in Gryffindor.

If it is false, then there's either 4, 6 (Which is unlikely) or 0. If it is true, then there's 1, 2, 3, or 5.
I don't think this works. At least in my mind, a lie detector shouldn't be able to respond to things the speaker isn't aware of himself.

But if scum were to say it :ponder: :ponder: :ponder:

Slight scum read on timmer. Participates while discouraging the whole thing to minimise the chance he'll have his post checked.

So if someone's getting veritaserum, let it be timmer.

It's new to everyone.

A few games ago, we found a new scumtell. Scum players, in order to look productive, throw out some reads on other players. Not everyone, but also nobody specific. Nothing substantial, and little to follow up on. Just some light poking at some of the names in the thread, in a way that looks like it's generating content.

Something similar to that. I haven't seen it defined that well, but we've caught scum with it.

The smattering of player reads without substance was coined as 'player salad' by someone.
I also think we've forgotten the definition of player salad over time.
