Re: [DAY 11] The Syndicate's 2013 Game of Champions
I already gave what I consider a hint to someone about my role in this game, but since we have outed civs all over the place I would prefer not to push further. I have also pointed my initial targetting of VAL, which I would have been unlikely to do if on a team with AP and I also voted for Epi on the other baddie team. While as I said before these are not major evidence of my civihood I think they should be considered in that it is unlikely I am a baddie for either team.
I am very conflicted about this vote as most of us are, but will stick with Mongoose and hope my suspicions were justified.
----
And got interrupted typing this and almost missed the vote.
Voted Mongoose.
Linki whoa

All of you Elo savers might have done better to vote for the same people.
And Bea, all this does is move you back into my gray zone. I should have voted Mongoose.
Linki~ OK, more time to regroup and talk. 24 hours was hard

Elohcin, I didn't say meh to you. I sighed at the situation. Making this personal is really not cool with me. If I'm wrong then I'm truly sorry (and based on the last few minutes it seems like I made a bad decision), but saying "fuck you" to us and waiting until the last minute to start posting and getting so angry that you received votes just seems unfair.

Re: [NIGHT 11] The Syndicate's 2013 Game of Champions
Yeah, what FH said, getting mad at us when you could have joined the discussion (I was at work all day, sneaking around with my phone to catch up, I know it isn't easy) really does not seem fair.
And Bea, it was obvious what I thought, you knew what i thought, but you chose not to mention that i was wrong until your trust of Mongoose was questioned? The only civ way I can explain this is that BDH was the Seemer, and that does not make sense, even to me, lol.
i need to walk away from this for now and do some thinking.

I'm going to try to be proactive instead of defeatist (since several of you are circling me with various sharp implements) and convince you I'm not bad at all.
But maybe not tonight. That was exhausting.

FYI I will be flying out for Tallahassee tomorrow night, and assuming weather doesn't delay any of my four flights (two on the way down, two on the way back), I will be back home really late Friday night/the earliest portion of the AM on Saturday.
That means the next post will go up either when I get back at that time, or sometime after I get home from work on Saturday (delayed).

Re: [NIGHT 11] The Syndicate's 2013 Game of Champions
I go to take a short nap, and I wake up after the lynch is over. Awesome.... Probably would have gone for Mongoose though.
Sorry if we genuinely frustrated you, btw. I don't think it was anyone's intent. But it does make me think it more likely that Elo is Cohen now.
I think bea temporarily fooled me. When day comes around again, I will most likely vote for her. I wouldn't be surprised if her voting bloc was involved in pushing for Elo at this point.
Linki: I thought the lynch ended in a tie. Is that not the case?

I don't think it's rumple, the odds of that seem slim.
He'd need two manipulators voting in a tiny, detectable group - recipe for disaster.
And they wouldn't try to save elo unless she was a third manipulator..
I don't think there are that many left.

Re: [NIGHT 11] The Syndicate's 2013 Game of Champions
Looking back at other No lynches, Zodac did not resolve those, so it must be a tie I think.
I am starting to wonder if you are right about bea, BwT. i was just reading the story line and forgot Bea survived kils from creeper and BB, which was the other role I thought she could be. I just cant figure it out at this point.
Linki - but havent the baddie teams merged?

Maybe it was a prize someone had?? I'm glad we've apparently tied, because now we can study the vote patterns of the kynch and maybe things will become clearer... if anything Zodac having 24 hours to think on it is better than the chaos we just went through.

I thought you thought you got the shield because of me. And you did. Just maybe not as directly as you thought you got it. Why is that so hard to understand? What thing am I missing that is giving you doubt?S~V~S wrote:Yeah, what FH said, getting mad at us when you could have joined the discussion (I was at work all day, sneaking around with my phone to catch up, I know it isn't easy) really does not seem fair.

I'm sorry if I'm being confusing again. It's hard to help when so much is unknown to me. I am trying to feed info as best I can to the thread but not break rules. Re: [NIGHT 11] The Syndicate's 2013 Game of Champions
I had the sheild the night I was targeted. That's why I survived. BB and Creeper attacked me. BB's attack was the work of Grady as far I can tell.Nevinera wrote:Bea said she still had the shield then, that it gets handed off every two days in this game.
I thought *at first* that I only had the shield for one night, not 2. I tried to pass it off the first night because I thought I was supposed to. It took me a good 30 seconds when *I* read my survival for me to realize *why* I survived. I passed it on the next night to the person I was going to pass it off to the first night because I still had good feels about them.
I'm not BB - I'm not obviously - meat boy. I never ever claimed to be those roles so if people are doubting me because they thought I was those roles, the fault lies in the fact that they picked the wrong role for me. Any hinting I've done has been super subtle and will only make sense if I'm lynched and my ture role is revealed.

Re: [NIGHT 11] The Syndicate's 2013 Game of Champions
I'm not buying the baddie teams merging thing. In my almost 5 years of playing mafia, I have NEVER been in a game where that has happened. In fact, if someone has been in a game where that's occurred, I would like to know what game it is. Because while I'm sure it's possible, I've never, ever seen it happen before from what I remember.
I'm surprised no one else mentioned it, but I could see bea being Creeper and targeting herself when she had the shield. She survives a nightkill attempt and possibly gains massive civvie cred for it. I used that exact same strategy in Electronic Mafia. DP was on my indy team, and I protected him on the same night when we chose to target him for a NK. One of the baddie teams also happened to target him that same night, and he gained massive civvie cred from that. Enough that we won the game because of it.
So regardless of whether bea had the shield or not, she could still be Creeper for all we know. And I think the only way we will find out at this point is to lynch her. Which is fine since I'm pretty firmly convinced she's bad, and will vote for her until one of us dies.

This is really interesting, so you think it was just that, a story and the same mafia teams. Is tonight a Moriarty kill then we should know soon if he is gone.birdwithteeth11 wrote:I'm not buying the baddie teams merging thing. Also, the more I think of Elo as Cohen the more the flying under the radar makes even more sense.
Yeah, bea could be Creeper in that theory as well. I just dont know. i am conflicted about the best choice for zodac, because honestly, if he chooses Mongoose or Boom we will not know their role, granted no idea who tied with Elo either.

Re: [NIGHT 11] The Syndicate's 2013 Game of Champions
That makes me sad teefies. - you will be sad when I die too. Maybe not today - but at endgame.
You are just as wrong about me as I was about you.
I'll give you my most first subtle role hint - since it was a private joke that really only the host and I could know about. My feelings about my insanifcation:
I'm really sad that the creator of the role and the person who had the role haven't picked up on my hints. They were the ones I was targeting. But maybe you are right teefies. Maybe my lynch will illuminate people. I've been trying to hint that far back. Others have picked up on it - but yet not the person that held the role before me nor the person who created the role. All I can say - is I've been hinting that role subtley that far back. I'm sure if you go back through all my posts you'll see it. That's a really hard thing to lay down tracks for if I'm Martell is it not?
At least give me that much.
hedgey - why wouldn't we know their role if zodak picks? We have - always gotten a role reveal with his kills that I can remember. Dom being the first.

* Life is Beautiful
* The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
* Water
* Lovers of the Arctic Circle
* No Man's Land
* Dr. Zhivago
* Farewell to Arms
* Beaches

* Rosewood
* Schindler's List
* Lemon Tree
* Dancer in the Dark
* Amour
* Away From Her
* Take This Waltz
* The Passion of Joan of Arc
* Hotel Rwanda
* Brokeback Mountain
* Ole Yeller
* The Way We Were
* The Umbrellas of Cherboug
* Grave of the Fireflies
* Basically any film that takes place during the Holocaust

life is beautiful is amazing. When it was first released, I had to search 3 counties to find a copy of it in the original Italian. I see it's on amazon prime now - but I'm skeered to re-watch it. If it's not in Italian, it's not right.

I have merged baddies in several games I hosted. I did it in Stoners with Bea, and in Dogma with JC. I have played in a game where it happened, too, but i don't recall which one.
It is not the commonest thing, but it is not unheard of.

Re: [NIGHT 11] The Syndicate's 2013 Game of Champions
Okay, so let's break this vote down (and I go on the assumption that the baddies have indeed merged into one):
Boomslang
3 - Mongoose (8), bea (11), Elohcin (12) 23%
Elohcin
5 - Boomslang (2), Nevinera (4), S~V~S (6), Spacedaisy (7), Flyin' High (9) 38%
Mongoose
3 - Lizzy (3), timmer (10), Hedgeowl (13) 23%
Proposition 1: Elohcin is bad
In this scenario, I assume Boomslang is not a baddie as he started the vote off on Elohcin. I also assume Nevin and SVS aren't bad, natch. I don't see Spacedaisy as a teamie as her vote seems too early for throwing in the towel. All other votes happened so close to the end that I assume that indeed no throwing of towels happened, so I doubt in this scenario that FH would be Eloh's teammate.
So to me, if Elohcin is bad, her teammates are more likely among the Boomslang voters. 1) Boomslang is clearly not on a team with Eloh. 2) Eloh had the option to vote against Mongoose but opted to vote WITH Mongoose against Boomslang. So I believe that if Elohcin is bad, the strongest likelihood is that Mongoose is as well, and Bea is either bad, or has been roped into trusting Mongoose.
So if Eloh is bad, I'm calling Mongoose as bad. It's obv not definite, but it's the strongest likelihood based on the day's vote.
Proposition 2: Boomslang is bad.
If Boomslang is bad, his early vote for Elohcin makes sense. Considering how scattered we all were today, I'm sure the baddies were quite agitated at the lack of votes. Baddies hate leading the action, but they hate waiting too long for push the group as well, so I'd say in tho scenario, Boomslang's vote makes sense as he was likely starting to sweat.
If he has teammates, in this scenario, Space daisy and FH would make sense. Once Elohcin was at 3 votes and Mongoose was at 1, it would seem like a good time to get on board the Eloh train. The more votes someone takes on, and the more someone is destined to be lynched, the less likely it is for the next civ voters to mount a defence and vote someone else (in my experience, anyway), so at LEAST one of SD or FH would likely be a Boomslang teammate. In this scenario, I see Mongoose and Bea as likely both civ. And Hedgeowl ends up as a possible teammate, as hedge's vote came right in the dying seconds, and baddie teammates may have felt they had the lynch safe so why not throw a vote on a third party?
So if Boomslang is bad, I'm calling at least two out of SD, FH and Hedge as his teammates.
Proposition 3: Mongoose is bad (but Elohcin is good, otherwise see Prop #1)
When Goose voted, the vote was 4 votes Elohcin, 1 vote Mongoose. If the baddies felt that the lynch was going Eloh's way, Goose may have felt safe making this play. I could see any of Boomslang, SD or FH as teammates, especially the latter two. In this scenario again, Bea could be a teammate but could also be a misguidedly trusting civ. And again, Hedge could be a teammates who felt safe burying a vote on Goose.
In short, things are clear as mud.
I strongly feel that if Elohcin bad, then Mongoose is as well, and Bea becomes not very trustworthy, but I feel better about SD, FH and Hedgeowl.
If Boomslang or Mongoose are bad, but Elohcin isn't, then FH, SD and Hedgeowl look more bad.
Prop 4: None of the three are bad.
This is very unlikely, but if somehow all three of Elohcin, Mongoose and Boomslang are civ, then the only really suspect votes are back to SD, FH and Hedgeowl. In this scenario, Hedgeowl becomes more likely than in the other scenarios, as a buried last-second vote becomes way more likely to be that of a baddie.
What do you guys think? I don't want to make Zodac's head spin, but we've got to analyze this!

Re: [NIGHT 11] The Syndicate's 2013 Game of Champions
^ That looks like an interesting analysis, Timmer, but I cannot focus on it atm, so I'll stay out of it and let the others judge.
Some observations though:
1. Elo's meltdown. I've seen both frustrated civs (MP) and baddies (SVS, myself) do that. So she's either a sure stressed IRL and defeated civ or a manipulative emotional baddie. I don't remember seeing civ Elo have an emotional breakdown like that and being so aggressive in her defense. However, it's possible that her teammates had some extra votes and there's the tie.
2. Goosey - I'm just so baffled by her actions, I have no idea what to say. People might have missed this. What her insanified post says is that in Shawshank Llama accused her of having slipped here. I didn't pay too much attention to that at the time, but ended up voting for her after she built a very bad case against me. Of course, she was bad. My bringing up DH's post was to demonstrate how hard he is trying to convince us that there is no way he has teammates to tell him what Thomas' role implies, so he alone had to go to the first page and check. If I understood correctly, I may have been right about DH. So Goosey points that out, and what does she do some hours later? The exact same thing. Goes to the first page to check what role I am, despite if being common knowledge by now. Let's say she really didn't know. Why does she have to post that to let us know she's clueless and has no team mates to tell her? Then we all know the discussion when Vomps first survived. And now what does she do? Says she'll wait until everyone has voted to see if she has to save herself, yet votes for Boom when there were still 6 people left to vote saying, 'oh well, looks I won't have to save myself'. WUT After reading her reply after I voted for her, I felt incredibly guilty about it and started to have second thoughts. Well done there!
3. Notice how neither of the two voted for each other.
4. Bea's defense of Goosey confuses me even more.
5. I wouldn't want to be in Zody's shoes. But you can do it!

Re: [NIGHT 11] The Syndicate's 2013 Game of Champions
I have also seen a frustrated civvie SVS & MP do that, too. More actually, lol.
The fact that she did not choose to talk to us until she was taking votes still bothers me. Although the last few minutes of that lynch kinda clarified my feelings on some other things. Gooseys post about how she was glad she did not vote Elo rang SO false to me, like someone who KNOWS someone is not a baddie~ and the best way to know that is to be a baddie. I have mainly seen that, though, in one team games. So even though I have seen games with merged Mafias, I don't know that that is what has happened here.
But to me the person who i came out of that paranoia fest feeling worst about was Mongoose. Timmers analysis was interesting. Lets see what Zodac does, and take it from there.

I liked the cut of timmer's logic, but I don't agree with some of his assumptions.
I'm focused on how the tie could have happened, though I know there's always "it was a random item!"
I'm leaning towards a percy power right now though.
Good luck Zodac, I'll see if I can come up with anything useful to help.
For what it's worth, I think the Elo-Cohen hypothesis is pretty reasonable,
but I'll go reread the posters today, when I have time.
Let's not have another Devin, eh?

Re: [NIGHT 11] The Syndicate's 2013 Game of Champions
@BWT: The mafia teams were merged when I played Six Feet Under on RM. I know I've seen it happen in other games, but that one immediately popped into my head because I was the last baddie on my team and got merged with DP who was the last baddie on his team.
I agree that Mongoose doesn't look any better after yesterday's lynch.
And I also think Elohcin as Cohen makes sense because a role like Cohen would not take getting votes this late in the game very well I wouldn't think.

Re: [NIGHT 11] The Syndicate's 2013 Game of Champions
So I just reread Elo and Boomslang.
My conclusions are not strong, but Elo reads through like a crazy busy person who's not really playing,
and boom reads like an attentive player who's not putting arguments out of his own.
It's tough to give good examples of that sort of thing,
but fortunately they're both very short reads if anyone would like to review and weigh in.
After that read-through I wish I could change my vote to Boomslang - there's nothing solid in there, and no strong "You're a baddie!" argument to be made,
but I can't help feeling after reading through that he is being very careful about what he says.
Not necessarily a baddie trait though - does anyone know how careful he is normally?

Re: [NIGHT 11] The Syndicate's 2013 Game of Champions
Currently the only explanation for there being a tie that I can find is percy - I think that he would be able to pick thomas at night and get the tripled vote the next day. There could be items that do something similar, but percy seems most likely to me.
@MP (when he gets back) - can percy use Thomas' power in this way?
I don't think I'll probably get through reading Mongoose today (we've got a major application deployment I have to work on).
I find her generally somewhat suspicious, but I'll need to read her again to get a better read :-)

Something clicked for me and I now understand why you placed trust in Mongoose, Bea. Also, if you are right, she will not be lynched. That will change the next lynch cycle for me a lot I think, so will be interested to see how this night goes.
Interesting point about MP = Zodac. I have no idea how closely he is tying these two games together. I keep feeling like we are in for a "surprise" Jk this game doesn't matter, or does it...
