Hello, Earthlings!

I have come to the Earth to invade it, but also to host this cool Heist setup.

This is a setup made by Cat Fart and Mattster321 from the Pokemon Showdown mafia chat. With some adaptations made by myself and Soneji.

Players (1/15):

Alison - Alien
Carotenoid - Bunker
Dyslexicon - Bunker
dunya - Bunker
Epignosis - Bunker
Hally - Bunker
Long Con - Bunker
MacDougall - Alien - WINNER
NANOOKTHEGREATANDFEARSOME - Bunker

Setup:

There are two factions: Town and Aliens.

Town (11)

- Do not have BTSC
- Win the game when all aliens are eliminated.

1 Laser Gun Operator

- Is confirmed by the mod at the start of the game.
- May kill one player each day with his laser gun.

10 Bunkers

- May protect one player from Alien kills each night.
- Only has 4 shots. After those shots are used, cannot protect anymore.
- Self-protecting is allowed, but only once per Bunker.

Aliens (4)

- Have BTSC.
- Win the game if they either eliminate the Laser Gun Operator, or all Bunkers.
- On odds nights, the aliens make one kill together. The kill will work if no Bunkers are protecting the target.
- On even nights, if there are 2 or more aliens alive, the faction can perform up to 2 kills. If both kills aim for the same target, they will only survive if being protected by at least 2 Bunkers. If they aim for different targets, a single Bunker may stop each kill.

This game does not have lynches. The Laser Gun Operator will be responsible for carrying the town faction's kill. There will be a poll to help the players organize the discussion, but that poll has no effect on gameplay, and the Laser Gun Operator makes the final decision on who to kill.

Rules

- This game is divided in day phases and night phases. Day phases are when the Laser Gun Operator makes his kill. They must send a kill to the host within 25 hours of the day start, or I will pick it at random. I will make sure to talk with the Laser Gun Operator beforehand to align the day end times to one they are confortable with.

- Night phases are when the Bunkers and Aliens send their actions. Actions will be accepted 23 hours after the end of day write-up is posted. Night posting is allowed.

- There will be a poll for voting on players, but it will have no effect on gameplay, and is used just to help organize the discussion. Voting on it is not mandatory.

- You must post at least once per day phase. Failure to do so will be considered inactivity. If you are inactive in two different days, I may replace or modkill you. No replacements will happen after Night 4. if you are going to be unable to be online for a short period, please tell me in advance so I may give you some leeway.

- Double targetting is allowed.

- Do not engage in angle-shooting, which means using information from outside of the game to obtain advantage in it. That includes, but is not limited to, making bets or oaths in real life or posting screenshots to prove anything. I will modkill players who try break this rule to influence the outcome of the game.

- This is what the Bunker role card looks like:

You are a Bunker.

You are a member of town. You win the game when you eliminate the Aliens.

Once per night, you may protect one player from a single Alien kill.

You have 4 shots of protection to use.

You can protect yourself, but only once in the game.

- Town and Alien players will win with their teams, whether they are alive or dead.

- Talking with people about the game in any places other than this thread, or BTSC channels authorized by me, are not allowed.

- Dead players must post in red. Non-players must post in blue. Off-topic posts should be in green. I will use this color, please do not use it.

- Your Game Facilitator is juliets. If you have any issues with other players or with me and you need to vent out, feel free to talk to her. For gameplay related questions, feel free to ask me and I'll help how I can.

The day when we learned we were not alone

It was a normal day on planet Earth. People lived through their normal lives, with maybe a pandemic or two, but overall, nothing much civilization-threatening happened.

WHEN ALIENS ATTACKED.

They came in their flying saucers. Because fictional aliens need flying saucers, of course. At first, they started only abducting cows, so people tried to justify it wasn't a big deal. But then, they started abducting people, and eventually, they started firing their lasers on cities and actually killing people. Humanity realized they had to work together to survive.

Researchers of the entire world worked 24/7 to develop a weapon that could fend the aliens off. Meanwhile, the attacks continued, and humans started hiding in bunkers to protect themselves from the aliens' lasers. The bunkers couldn't hold that long, though, so the humans were growing desperate.

Eventually, the scientists finally arrived at a solution. A massive laser gun that was capable of obliterating flying saucers with one shot. Unfortunately, it would take time to mass-produce that weapon, and the bunkers wouldn't be able to hold for long. So a single prototype of the laser gun would have to do.

They then chose someone to operate it, one of Earth's finest soldiers. That woman would be responsible for saving humanity from colonization by aliens. Or die trying.

DDL, if the laser gun operator dies at night, does it get randed to another player? I didn't find that in the rules.

I'm not sure if this will come up, but in case it does, here is a disclaimer:

Before the game started, when I was randomizing the roles, I had to roll more than once for the laser gun role, in order to find a player who could have the ideal timezone to be online at the EoD.

Until I settled on a player to be the laser gun, I did not roll the other roles. So that process had no bearing on who ended up being town or alien.

Just making this clear so it doesn't become a point of debate. Thanks

This is over is an alien laser shoots nutella. That's it.

Bunkers have limited protections. After I'm spent, someone else will need to carry on in my stead (or if I get killed).

This is about setting up a network of protections so that it's clear who failed and is therefore mafia.

(yes, I know it doesn't do anything, I just want to make it clear what my stance is from day to day)

Making a list of who protects who only gives more information to the mafia about who is unprotected. And mafia wins the game immediately if they kill nutella, so it is completely useless to know who failed to protect her the day after we lose the game. The strategy you are proposing would make it trivially easy for the mafia to win just by attacking the operator on the night where a mafia member is scheduled to protect her. And a public list of who protects who would make it easier for the mafia to know who they can safely kill since there isn't enough heals to protect everyone at once.

It is correct for town to keep when and who they are using their protect on secret so mafia doesn't know who is being protected, if the operator is shielded, and how many protects the town has left.
There's nothing that says a fake can't surpass the real thing.

I meant like, player 1: protects player 2
Player 2: protects player 3
And did forth. For the odd number of night where there's only 1 kill and 1 protect would save nutella it's not thaaaaat bad an idea. clearly, I will protect nutella cos I don't trust all the rest of y'all not to pull one on me :p

That literally cannot be true. My entrance was absolutely Civ-minded. I don't want us to have no protections left on Day 5. We will strictly assign players to a schedule of powers. We will schedule three of the four protects that each player ostensibly has. The fourth will be left as a "free protect" to add some unpredictability to the equation.

I would like to see nutella shoot dunya for this obvious fake analysis.

I have never played this setup, merely brainstormed with DDL a few months ago on how to improve the setup he found on another site. Haven't thought much yet about optimal strategy here, and DDL has made further changes from what we came to in our chat. Will look into it later.

why does it say its day 0 btw? isnt it day 1?

or does the game start on night so we dont get to laser someone today

It's just like a check in phase, you can think of it as d1 being extended basically

Oh yea i was also thinking of using RNG to determine our protections

like idk the numbers but lets say arbitrarily say 10% , each bunker goes to rand.org or however eas the site, rolls between 1 and 100, if its 1 to 10 they protect nutella, otherwise save their shot. Obv different on even nights and as more of us die but u get the idea. Like, just think of some numbers that will give us good odds, i think its okay to slightly potentially lose the game on the first night if it means bigger chance to win in the end

We have to assume the aliens will try to kill nutella every night. We will non-randomly arrange protects to ensure, and insure, that she has multiple layers of protection each night. We will do this in a way that eliminates the possibility of unfortuitously picking all aliens to protect her.
