I'd probably not wear a ring as well in protest and show him how often people flirt with me....

I like fantasy, but science fiction often flies over my head. I'm not smart enough to enjoy it.
I always preferred history over science at school so fantasy with historical elements is my fav.

It's harder for me to imagine space fiction since it's a setting I've never been close to I suppose. And there's a lot of technical stuff. Like I did Spacedaisys star trek themed rpg for a while and was the social doctor with a tab of technical spaceship terms I don't understand open at all timesNANOOKTHEGREATANDFEARSOME wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 6:45 am Sci fi is just fantasy in space and/or with time travel
Re: Interrogation Room - dunya
Look. Listen. I'm dumb as rocks and sci-fi is cool beans. You're just getting trapped by the people who get rowdy over the esoteric. There's plenty of "low brow" sci-fi to enjoy.
You are going to LOVE the Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, then!!

Re: Interrogation Room - dunya
Ursula k le guin has some good sci fi books that I recall being approachable for serious readers that aren't sci fi fans. I don't remember the order you're supposed to read them in offhand but left hand of darkness and the dispossessed. I recall hitchhikers guide to the galaxy fitting the bill well (both the movie and the book). Asimov is an acquired taste but a lot of his stuff is focused more around philosophical/ethical concerns rather than the specific made up science, nemesis and a lot of his other short stories in particular.dunya wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 6:52 amGive me a movie/show or book recommendation that fits the bill.NANOOKTHEGREATANDFEARSOME wrote: ↑Tue Feb 22, 2022 6:51 am But yeah what syn said, there's tons of sci fi where the sci part just gets handwaved away the same way magic does in a lot of fantasy stuff
For movies/tv...well doctor who is a classic entry point for a lot of people, and is pretty accessible...star wars of course...perhaps not stereotypical sci fi but the eternal sunshine of the spotless mind is an excellent movie
