I would really agree with this. You played a great game and I am sorry to see you go.Dom wrote:Thank you MP, we can talk more in the post game. But I truly tried my best this game.MovingPictures07 wrote:I was going to wait until after the end of the game to comment similarly, but seriously, Dom. Hats off to you. I don't know how you avoided serious suspicion for so long, and you really only got nailed by process of elimination.
I'll be glad to have your role gone, but your playing this game was outstanding.
And on that note, I think we're getting close to a civvie win. Just need to get rid of the Cybers after this, I think.
I think you are right about that, tbh
MM also wasn't recruited by the recruiter. So, yeah Chris, you were wrong all along.
Looking forward to all the endgame discussion. This is such an amazing game!

I move that the hosts create a special banner for Dom after the game, because he honestly did nothing wrong this game.
And I hope you're right about us getting close to a win, MP, but we've still got a few more kills to get through before that.

Re: Dr. Who Mafia - Night 12
Indeed! But I think the numbers are in our favor, and I can't see why either Strax or Cybers would target anyone other than Dom tonight. That being said, I suppose Cybers could want to waste a lynch, though, so we may see a civvie get NKed tonight.DFaraday wrote:I move that the hosts create a special banner for Dom after the game, because he honestly did nothing wrong this game.

A poem:
roses are red
Violets are blue
but that's kinda silly
because violet is the name of a color
and that color is purple, not blue
someone should totally rezz me.
k thanks bye

It has been brought to my attention that Violet are in fact Violet. I am shocked and in disbelief that our American school system would teach this bold face LIE to the young impressionable minds that will make up the future of america. I am currently starting a petition to have the poem that my previous post was based on to be banned from classrooms across the country. Please stand with me. Also Rezz.

Re: Dr. Who Mafia - Night 12
Night 12: The End Game
Both Strax and the Cybermen had settled on a target. The same target in fact. Dom knew what was coming, and had prepared for the inevitable. Strax struck first, but Dom reacted quickly enough to hold off the blow. He was not as lucky with the Cybermen, however. They managed to knock him down, and then proceeded to beat the everliving stuffing out of him until he was nothing but a puddle of blood.
Excited at having finally finished off The Master, everyone began to rejoice. The end was near! Or so they thought.
And then Hedge cried out, "Well, now that our biggest threat is gone...kill the others!"
Snow Dog and Epig grabbed Chris and keys first, and squeezed and popped their heads off. Hedge began to roar and cackle with laughter.
One by one the remaining civvies fell. DFaraday, Long Con, and Ninja were all felled by Gotress, juliets, and Hedge respectively. Until SVS and MP were the only ones left.
That is, until MP grabbed SVS from behind, disasrmed her, and knocked her to the ground so forcefully that he broke one of her knees. SVS exclaimed, "B-b-but you're The Doctor! The one we put all our trust in!"
"Yes....", said both Hedgeowl and MP at the same time. "That trust was....severely misplaced. You see, I beat The Doctor at a game of chess. So I gained control of his body and mind. And he became my most loyal servant. The universe is better off without his Companions. In fact, it's better off without most life in general."
And with that, MP set his foot on SVS' head, lifted it, and brought it down so hard, her head popped like a melon.
Hedge began to laugh hysterically, but there was a certain evil quality to it. "Good news, boys and girls! THEY'RRRRRRRE HEEEEERRRRRRRRRE!!!"
She then set her eyes to the stars. For while Earth would fall quite easily to her now, there were plenty of other planets and galaxies to conquer. And she had the beginnings of an army that would see to her goals.
The game has ended. The Master Cyberman (Hedgeowl) and her team have won the game. Congrats to Hedgeowl, MovingPictures (The Doctor), juliets (Strax), Gotrees (Martha Jones), zeek (Wilfred Mott), Roxy (Dalek #2), Snow Dog (Cyberman Head), and Epignosis (Cyberman #1) for winning the game!
Bea is on her way home. So once she is, we'll start going through and breaking down everything that happened, as well as reveal all the hidden stuff. Although I will go ahead and reveal one hidden thing that I'm sure everyone was curious about.

Grats winners, can't wait to see how it all went down.

Re: Dr. Who Mafia - Night 12
there was a limit on the recruits of 5 but mostly we were just incredibly lucky that we didn't get targeted and werent lynch candidates though hedge got mentioned a couple of times. We did however gain control of Dom's kill which allowed us to use it and the strax kill to keep as many night kills as possible away from us. We tried to recruit you TH but that was the night all the powers got redirected. We recruited gotrees that night and as it turned out we couldn't have won without him. And why the heck did you insanify me?

sorry guys - working through the ss right now - just want to say - this was some weird game with luck and stuffs! I couldn't believe it.
I also want to say that Dom and BR played an amazing game. If ANYONE has any doubt about how a lie detector should be played - they should start at the beginning of this game and re-read black rock. She taught me a thing or two that's for sure!!
Ok - back to making sure I got all this - I'm up to N5 so when I have them all wrote out - I"ll start posting them.

My favorite part of the game was tha day when Epig was lynched and he said he wasn't going to be a bitch and vote to save himself. Little did he know he couldn't save himself anyways because I targeted him the night before and his vote didn't count anyways.
I was sad I was killed early because I think I was playing a good Indy game. My role ended up not working out great, and I don't think I stood much of a chance to win, but I was having fun.

That's just fucking ridiculous. But explains a lot. Like Snow Dog asking Hedgeowl to recruit him already. Juliets cruising in the background. Epignosis insisting we were doomed. All that fake drama, it's like the fucking Truman Show. Hedgeowl being spotless, like a drug kingpin out of The Wire or something. Fuck all of you. Great game, enjoyed it a lot.

Re: Dr. Who Mafia - Night 12
Good game everyone. Thanks for all the time and effort host and hostess. Thanks for putting up with my antics too.
But dammit, it's frustrating when my intuition was correct, but I jumped into an abyss I couldn't climb out of. I shot myself in all of my feet.

The answer: all of them, if you are a marmot.

Re: Dr. Who Mafia - Night 12
First off, I want to emphasize: bea and BWT, this was one hell of a game. Thanks to both of you so much for hosting it. Without a doubt this goes down as one of the most fun games I’ve ever played in my four and a half years of mafiaing, and definitely is now one of the wins I am most proud of.
That said, I have many comments to make now that it is post-game, both as a player and administrator.
I loved my team so much. Seriously possibly the best BTSC I’ve ever had, but even if not it was definitely up there. All of the scheming was SO much fun. I will definitely miss that more than anything now that the game is over.
I am so sorry to everyone for bordering on manic this game, with the amount I was posting especially the first half of the game. I was just so insanely excited about this game and it was my only non-school outlet; additionally, I knew with my role that I could be as aggressive as I wanted in finding baddies and I was inevitably a confirmed civvie (or so I thought).
On that note, I NEVER would have expected to be recruited this game. I was shocked when I found out that one of the secret roles was a recruiter, but even more so was I shocked to find out that my role could even be recruited. There was a chess match that I had to play, but since it landed at a terrible time for me: my parents were in town, I was busy with school, and I only had 24 hours to do it, I failed to complete it. If I had done better than Hedgeowl, I believe the recruit would have failed, which could have seriously changed the way this game panned out.
Now that leads me to some constructive criticisms for the game structure. I think the game was balanced probably pretty well up until the addition of the recruiter role, which was definitely overpowered. I realize Hedge could have died and our team seriously got lucky at every turn this game, but the role itself, in addition to the fact that I was inevitably a recruit assuming the role could stay alive, was just too much. When I got recruited, I was actually seriously disappointed at first, since I worked so hard for a civvie win, and I really wanted it. But I quickly changed my perspective and realized I had to work my hardest to win with this team, and everyone knows how much I love being an FEB. So I couldn’t stay mad. :P
From what I understand, the recruiter role was a last minute addition, and the hosts can confirm or deny this conjecture, so I understand how the impact wasn’t fully considered perhaps, but those are my thoughts nonetheless. Again, I loved the hell out of this game, and you both did a great job. Those are just some of my thoughts for future reference for not only both of you but everyone else.
Additionally, the role hinting and outing throughout this game was completely out of hand. I definitely take some serious responsibility for this, and I want to apologize especially to Dom, who played an absolutely brilliant game, and just couldn’t nab the win, even though he deserved it. We had every intention of recruiting you, by the way, but in the end it just didn’t work out, and we realized we could end the game even more easily by directing attention your way so that we didn’t sacrifice any of our team via lynches in the process. And while I realize I contributed a lot of this, and I have no intention to point fingers, I nonetheless want to specify this since I know both that zeek is new to our community and that some other old-timers apparently need a refresher: Pegging someone as a specific role in thread is unacceptable, especially with a degree of confidence of “I KNOW _____ is bad” or “I KNOW ____ is this role”. Not only that, but outing your own role as a defense mechanism by quoting the show or doing something else also seems similarly out of line, IMO. Subtle role hinting is a different matter. But if practically everyone in the thread knows your specific role once you’ve “hinted”, that’s self-outing, not self-hinting. Of course, that’s all my opinion technically, but I feel it’s one shared by many others, and it’s one that is integral to the site at large when outing occurs on a grand scale. It is also one that I believe is held as general custom among the community, and therefore I feel all of this needed to be said.
Since my role was inevitably outed due to the way it was structured, and since everyone knew I would have knowledge regarding certain players, I felt obligated to comment in order to (at first) help ensure a civvie victory and later to help spread misinformation and ensure my team’s victory. In this way, I feel that one part of the reason we had way too much role outing this game was due to my role mechanic. But nonetheless, I apologize to what hand I had in this matter, certainly.
I will address more strategy related questions and commentary later as more discussion occurs, but I want to now shift focus purely to one of administrator only, one I have not really felt appropriate to express during the game since I was simultaneously playing it.

Re: Dr. Who Mafia - Night 12
An Announcement from Your Administrator:
I specified this is an administrator announcement so that it is clear that this post is not from me as a player, but from the primary administrator of this site.
There were way too many instances of behavior this game that were absolutely and completely unacceptable. I, like many others, have tread the fine line of unacceptable or overly emotional behavior before, but it was to an absolutely new level this game than it has been in a while. I need everyone on this site to know that much of the disrespect to the hosts and to other players that occurred this game will NOT be tolerated in the future as it was here. It is absolutely unacceptable. Players will treat their fellow players and hosts with respect.
I wanted to be fair and let the moderator, Llama, who did an absolutely wonderful job modding this game I might add, as well as the hosts, handle this situation. I will not name names, but there was some serious outright, blatant disrespect this game, and I want to made it known that this disrespect will not be tolerated at this community. I think it’s fair to give everyone as fair a chance as possible, since I understand mafia + real life can lead to some tense moments, but instances this game STILL CONTINUED TO HAPPEN not only once but MULTIPLE TIMES after not only the hosts, but the Mod on Duty, as well as the administrators, continued to give plenty of chances for these instances to stop happening.
I want everyone to know this. The hosts, the mod, as well as myself, worked hard behind the scenes to keep this game running amid drama this game that will not be tolerated in future games. I want everyone to know that intentional disrespect will not be tolerated. Everyone is here to have fun. In order to best ensure a community where people can have fun playing and hosting mafia games, this general concept of mutual understanding and disrespect must be maintained. I realize no one is perfect, and that tension will pop up inevitably, but what occurred in this game was at times well beyond what should occur. This is not a matter of telling anyone how to play the game, but only a matter of ensuring the game stays at a level of respect so that everyone can play and host the game how they want to play and host the game.
If anyone ever has a complaint or needs to vent, it needs to go in PM to the hosts and/or the Mod on Duty. That’s what that system is for. The thread, and other players for that matter, are not anyone’s personal emotional dumping ground.
The outright disrespect stops and it stops now.
I don't want this to affect the course of discussion, and I ask that everyone else please not comment publicly on this (if you feel you want to, send me a PM instead), but it absolutely needed to be said.

Re: Dr. Who Mafia - Night 12
Alright. Now that my internet is working again. I can go ahead and share these two fine dandies.
The Master Cyberman: The ultimate life-form in Cyberman technology. Once every 2 nights, he can recruit another player to his Cyberman army. Once he does, they gain BTSC with him and their win conditions change to his (must be LMS or last team standing to win).
If he targets The Doctor, they must play a game of chess. The winner of the chess match determines if The Doctor is recruited or not. You are a LMS role.
Weeping Angel
Must be LMS to win. Starting on Night 1, it may choose to target a player. If targeted, that role will slowly have it's time energy sucked from them. During this time, their vote will not count. If the Weeping Angel continues to target this player for 3 consecutive nights, then the target will die. The target is unaware of the Weeping Angel's actions. If the Weeping Angel targets The Doctor, the Angel will be forced to stare into the mirror for eternity. In other words, you die.
Obviously, these were the other two secret roles. In order for them to have been revealed in-game, you would have had to lynch them. Since Splints was NKed, however, her Weeping Angel role description did not appear. Whereas Metalmarsh's did because you lynched him.

Re: Dr. Who Mafia - Night 12
Also, thank you SO much to everyone who mentioned they really enjoyed the game and/or were having a lot of fun with it at some point! I think I remember at least 3/4 of everyone who played saying something either publicly or privately in PMs. And given this was a game I worked to develop off and on for almost a year, that really meant a lot to me!
I will say for the next cycle, I have two games I'm planning on hosting. One is a more standard type of game, and the other is very unorthodox. All I'll say about it right now is that you should think of somewhere in between a boo game and Recruitment Mafia.
