"Odd choice for a kill" tell
Indeed. This post pinged me a lot, even though I do not really see mafia voting for Sloonei yesterday and I have previously had a town read on Scotty. There is tension here in my feelings about him.
Oh wait, Scotty voted for Quin, not Sloonei. So that makes me feel even worse about him.
“I don’t see mafia voting for sloonei”
“Scotty didn’t vote for sloonei”
“I feel worse about him”
????
Makes total sense. IF mafia didn't vote for Sloonei AND you voted for Sloonei, THEN I would have a hard time reading you as mafia. Given that that is not the case, it is easier for me to read you as mafia.

You currently have LoRab and Quin as your top contenders for mafia.

Those are my top 2 candidates right now too.

Can you better explain what you find suspicious about LoRab or have I missed it?

I continue to believe that the mafia are largely being quiet in order to let the civ devour themselves. I don't have much specific dirt on Lorab, but she is one of the quieter ones without an excuse of a) being cursed or b) it being totally in character (like with DFaraday.) My reasoning for Quin is similar because I remember him being quite an active player generally, and his lack of participation this game seems super suspicious.

Mainly just experience. It's a smart and historically effective strategy for them. If we are on the wrong track, what reason would they have to be super active and provide us with lots of chances to catch them in a slip up? There are some players (like Epignosis, for example) who can't help themselves and are always active even when they are mafia, but not many of those folks are in this game. DH is one who I would expect to be active even as mafia. But it's just a sense I'm getting from the general vibe of the thread and the players.

Unfortunately I think a lot of players have moved toward that Epi mold in recent years. Controlling the narrative is more important than sitting idly by and hoping civilians don’t find each other. Several players in this game would likely have moderate-to-high volume posts regardless of alignment: Golden, Scotty, Michelle, NAA, Quin, myself.

Me, wondering ‘why is llama so convinced there’s no scum on Sloonei’

I looked back. Two are dead, one was elo who you could realistically call self defence and probably townslipped, and one is llama.

I tend to agree.

Let’s put some pressure on them then.

Vote LoRab with me. She says she is going to post more, and we’re now less than half the day left, and she won’t give reads.

Or vote Quin, who is content to just shrug about everything.

@LoRab got any reads yet?

I don’t like how quiet it is. Suggests the mafia are under no real pressure at all. The game is coasting.
Not really. I’m not thinking about bea and kate until tomorrow. And really wanting to know what happened to bea. I have more players I feel good about than am suspish of. Which makes sense in terms of numbers, but is annoying. Not wanting to name who I feel goosed about because don’t want to help mafia. And not convinced the game secrets don’t contain weirdness that makes the allegiances less obvious than they seem.
Yeah, this seems like a post I would write if I were bad.
Sloonei wrote: Thu Oct 27, 2022 8:39 pm Did Eloh just town-slip? Or am I misunderstanding something?
town-slip? Like Bea did when she said she thought Day 1 ended after only 24 hours? I know we aren't supposed to say our roles, but claiming civ was never a no-no.

One time, you can switch the lynch to the player of your choice.
which is another tick on my chart of why Sloonei could be bad. I'm guessing since it was a tie between Sloon and myself, instead of waiting it out to see which one of us it would be, he went ahead and switched the vote entirely.

This is the only explanation I can think of. Did you have any thoughts on it?
Obviously I can make no comment about what role Sloonei may or may not have.

But Elohcin just posited a theory in which Sloonei is a specific town role. The conclusion she draws from this theory, however, is that it points toward Sloonei being aligned with the mafia team.
Mafia Eloh probably knows which roles are mafia-aligned. Thus, she does not make a mistake like this.
Oh my gosh, did I get something wrong with the roles again? Going to relook...

GAH, I did. I saw the secrets break and thought the next section of roles was mafia for some damn reason. I had a long day and have been super off since getting back from vacation for some reason, and not just with mafia. And, I thought I was onto something, and now I feel stupid. My activity in this game thus far is NOT making me feel better about turning 40 next week.

But why would Rev Mafia role want to switch a vote from the sloonei/Eloh tie? Is there another explanation for the switch?

off to bed.
Banners are cool, but a pain to scroll through so...
I've won a lot of games. I've hosted some games. The end.

Mid D1 reads list time. Only mildly fleshed out.

Townreads:
-GMan (from his insistence on adverb posting)
-Llama (willing to post reads. Seems genuinely hunting. Reads mostly align with mine)
-Kate (I don’t think she would fake her OT posting on day 2)

Townlean:
-Elo (she might have towntold. Needs more evidence. But end of day 1 is probably a good sign)
-bea (I have a role in mind for bea. Could bump up to townread)
-Golden (had a nice time doing the New York Times Saturday crossword last night. A strong presence in thread. He is withholding many suspicions for ‘The Greater Good’, which is frustrating but I get it)
-sig (I had a good feeling about his D1, and although I can’t right now remember what he’s said, I seem to remember him having a presence. Only light town)
-Michelle (exhibited a nosy enough D1. Want more. D2 is underwhelming)
-Vivax2.0 (hasn’t posted yet, but his slot was fine. Note: fine. This slot could be as close to null as I have. Putting as Townlean for now)

Scumlean:
-Wilgy (I just have no reason to call him town at the moment. Had him as a Townlean D1)
-DF (this is also town meta for him. :sigh: )
-Sloonei (if sloonei isn’t the lynch switcher as Golden implies then he shoots up to scummy for me for weird behavior D1)

Currently suspecting LoRab, DH, Quin

I like this list a lot and is generally in line with my views.

only difference is I’d move Eloh to solid town, golden a bit further down but still town lean and bounce Lorah into neutral and maybe Michelle to scum lean

I have to try and find the time to read over DH and Quin This phase. Quin for me has no presence in the thread which is just a bit odd. I know he’s posted but can’t recall any thoughts from me on anything he’s said.

DH was a scum lean I remember day one calling out his like of substance and it seems like other people see that too. I’d like to reread him though.

I’ll caveat my last post by saying if we keep missing mafia I could tinfoil Llama as one.

Also we should be looking out for whoever doesn’t vote as I believe a mafia ability is to take a vote and give it to an outside 3P? Which I’m assuming is JJJ vote

Not necessarily. I want to see how he responds.

Or with secrets in civvie roles, there’s also a chance he may be looking for votes as a civ thing.

So, really, I want to see how he responds.
Hi.

Here’s my response:

Really? That’s the hill you’re leading a charge on? Yikes.
I wasn't leading a charge. I was noticing a weirdness. But ok.
Scotty wrote: Tue Oct 25, 2022 12:38 pm
Lorab did indeed pop in, as Vivax pointed out, just to call attention to my joke post. That…sure is something. She needs to offer more than that.
Obviously, I didn't read it as a joke post--to be fair, I was reading the entire day's worth of posts, so I likely missed tone. And I will offer more--as I said in the sign ups, I was away for a long weekend, so didn't have much time to get into the game. And yesterday was traveling back home yesterday. As I'm sure you remember, you'll get plenty more from me.

I'm going to assume that you are a civ, and that you are reading me as bad because you are not. But, keeping in mind that it could be a switcheroo.
LoRab wrote: Tue Oct 25, 2022 7:38 pm Home from work. Just finished reading through the rest of day. And don’t worry—I’m going to vote. There’s over 20 minutes left. Why rush?
LoRab wrote: Thu Oct 27, 2022 1:02 pm I'm here!! Went to bed before the results posted last night (because I'm an old person). RIPIYWG (nd you probably were), Splints. (and yes, I know that all of the night victims are likely civ, but I make no assumptions--assumptions are dangerous in this game). And sorry that this post is kind of all over the place.

Splints is a good player, and so I can see why she'd be a N1 target for mafia. Especially if one of the players is someone whom she historically has been able to read. Now I need to remember who that could be. And, mafia knows that anyone not on their team is civ, so is a good target no matter what.

And I should have a normal-er schedule now, so can post more regularly. And maybe actually get reads on people.

Also, I swear that I totally submitted a song for the contest, but now that message seems to have disappeared, and it's super weird. And I'm curious where it went to.

Looking at the visible night results, Kate was Greened and Bea was somethinged. Not knowing what role/circumstance had that effect on Bea, hard to say if that's good or bad. I disagree with whomever said it was a result of the map poll--since she wasn't the only Canada voter, but seems to be the only one whose posts have been altered. And she even said (I think?) that it wasn't Vompatti.

I have more thoughts and I'll remember them later. :)
LoRab wrote: Thu Oct 27, 2022 7:29 pm

@LoRab got any reads yet?

Anyone else noticing the pattern?
Spoiler: show
It’s full of excuses.

Now I want to preface that I know she has outlined her time constraints. Everyone has a life outside the game. But the excuses are starting to add up and there’s nothing to show with it. All of her posts have been real nothing burgers and she’s obviously reading along because she’s made multiple comments like “did he just claim mafia” and “it’s weird that JJJ is voting” and yet “I have no reads” or “I have town reads but don’t want to give the mafia any ideas”

I expect more…something substantive at this point.

Is there anything specific that makes you feel this way?
And yet Quin demonstrably hasn't.
Demonstrate it then.

Scotty, its amazing how you can go on so much about my read of axe not having substance, then follow it up with a town read on G-Man because he likes adverbs.

I will tack onto your stuff on LoRab that she doesn't have the thread clout to worry about concealing her reads. Nobody does at this point. It's a bad look for her.

Oh my GMan read is a legacy from the first day. I think him coming out early and using an adverb in his first post and then advocating for everyone to use one is a great look.

Sloonei seems to confidently read you as town, and for some reason Golden is following suit, so I guess I’ll give you space too.

Revising what I said before. I misremembered this post as LoRab talking about not wanting to explain her town reads, which I thought was a bad look because she lacked the clout needed for scum to want to react to them. Now reading it again, that's all because Scotty specified town reads in his ISO. What a nugget. I'm not concerned if she's holding back on her scum reads.

I still have absolutely no idea what is going on in LoRab's head besides "Scotty could be either good or bad".

Not repeating Scotty's ISO in here, I agree with all of it. You said you have more time, so I'd appreciate you using it to respond to this, and provide reads. [VOTE: LoRab] aubergine
