But I think if you read the first, say, one and a half pages of today, there’s a ‘let’s carefully examine the wilgy train’ vibe and if there are no wolves in there trying to control the conversation in that direction I’ll be surprised. That’s my gut feel.
It feels to me like there’s a whole lot of steering going on.

If you wish to vote for Neon, simply vote for jack in the poll.
Bye Jack!

Welcome @Neon to the wildest thread in the west!
I actually feel like the steering wheel’s been disconnected and we’re all just backseat driving.

Golden wrote: Thu Dec 01, 2022 3:15 pm Gone back to read it again:

Kate - holy bad countertrain, wtf guys.
Sabi - Sean, golden, SVS or Lucy contains a wolf. Also, ties are bad.
Scotty = not committing, sure looks like a seanzie save to me. Rejects "SVS is obvtown" arguments.

Dennis - "with marmot dead, I'm not certain how to read the Wilgy wagon"
Seanzie - "not gonna dome sabi, that's derailing the thread, also SVS is obvitown"
SVS - Just explains her thinking

Instinct says Kate might just be caught up in that first bundle, it's not like examination of that group is bad. But it's quite central to why scotty and sabi are forefront of my mind today.

Conversely, the bottom group (people on the wilgy train) don't try to control the narrative at all.
Dude I’ve pulled over at a truck stop yesterday. I ain’t even close to driving this.

Part of this game is making discussion and forming cohesive viewpoints. Me offering an initial reasoning why Marmot might have been killed and how the Wilgy wagon took off after I left at the end of D1 is something I think should be looked at further.

I do agree that going for tie is the absolute worst thing you could do in a D1.

And that’s pretty brazen to acknowledge unless SVS is just getting her dirty laundry out in the open before we find it.

I don’t think this makes her obv town for doing it
Scotty, why do you think going for a tie rather than miseliming on day one is 'the absolute worst thing' you could do?
Because a D1 with no elimination stalls the game.

I’m a person that thrives on information. Mafia can talk their way out of a paper bag. We might as well just start the game with a N1 if we just sit on our hands D1.

See my viewpoint? You may not agree with it and that’s fine. I feel like half the thread in one way or another has expressed the desire to have gone to a tie on D1, so it is what it is.

I agree with this. Upon reading it I didn’t know what was bothering me, but I think it’s the specifics of laying out his strategy, like boldly announcing to the entire office that he’s going to use the restroom, ‘but not just to pee!’
Chances this triple contains a wolf? Like 99%

Chances it contains two wolves? Like 11.2%

Chances it's Scotty? Like 69% nice!
This post here?

I’ve no idea how Seanzie did it, because it makes no sense to me. But I think it’s really good. And Scotty and sabi didn’t let up on Seanzie, haven’t let up on Seanzie.

This entire game makes a tonne of sense to me through the lens of ‘shit shit how is Sean so on to us already’.
Mm while we’re here, I was just thinking- if sabi is my partner I never nakedly just +1 agree with my partner like that.

anyway, I’m still feeling sabi’s town from the burnout comments they were making yesterday. The lack of follow through with some of their pushes.

Could it be wolf? Maybe. But I was finely combed by sabi in the last game we played together where they hoodwink’d me, and I see a slightly different sabi this game. If that makes any sense

[VOTE: Sabi] aubergine

I think the marmot kill makes sense from sabi, and her sudden ‘hmm, I’m starting to worry about the Seanzie wagon’ 30 minutes from eod when no save seemed apparently incoming.

The thing I like least about scotty is there’s a lack of second guessing himself and a lack of lightness. I think Scotty’s town vs wolf meta isn’t so unlike mine in that latter regard, and I think he struggles to be quite *as* funny and light when he’s bad.

I even tried quite a bit of having fun with him and he wasn’t really gelling with it. Could just be that he’s wary of me though, it’s plausible.

I feel like all she's done so far is read into the me and my family, and then make some sort of 'can't blame me for this' when doing something. Like her coldread on me, she said she 'just knows'. I don't like that one bit. Her votes in D1 have also been 'fine with wagoning' and 'seeing how this feels' so I don't like it. The coldread town (how do I word that) on me makes me think she might be WKing me.

one thing I do have issue with is the fact all the votes are being placed on active players, while I believe that there are active mafia players, I don't believe it's any greater than one or two

which means that we'll vote out active participants instead of inactive participants which will greatly harm us in late game, due to voting out all the players that have actually done something. instead of inactive whom have done nothing. to that end I scum read bea, so I'll actually place my vote there

[VOTE: bea] aubergine
Wait so you go from “probably one in sabi/seanzie” to this?

While I agree that inactives will hurt us in the long run, in the short run…there is obviously at least one active wolf and voting for an inactive is literally a shot in the dark. This is not the time, and it is a lazy way of thinking

No, I don't think you're wrong in that we're worse off later with inactives. But if we take a shot in the dark we have an arguably worse chance of hitting a wolf than someone we have a reason to vote. Also, I'm still holding out hope that they'll join back by then. Though, it is worth considering that chances are one active is a wolf.

I slept most of the day. I did not intend to.
I still have Sabi as a suspicion, for reasons mentioned on d1, but I have considered that maybe they really mistrusted Seanzie. Then they started to backpedal some, and I’m back to sq1.

Why did Falcon vote Seanzie? Maybe they gave a reason why in an earlier post, but I can’t remember now so I’ll ISO them later or tomorrow.

I don’t understand Lucy’s vote for Bea either, it seems a bad idea to go after low posters, just for being a low poster, this early. (It doesn’t help that I still feel so bad for suspecting Bea in the anni game 1)

I can’t remember what else I read earlier because I’m getting sleepy again but I know there’s more. I’ll post again after I sleep on it.

Hey Mata!

If you could make your top 2 biggest suspicions in your catch-up, who would they be?

When you say you’re back to sq1 with sabi, does that mean you don’t suspect them anymore? I can’t get a good read with this post what you actually think of the players you’re mentioning- it just seems like a catalogue of events

So let me get this straight. The new, current meta is that:

1. It's better to lynch a civ on day one then to have no death; and
2. It's town behavior to lynch low posting players rather than wait on that and lynch a player based on the thread and flip clues.

These two "metas" don't seem to reconcile.

I mean, I quibble with the idea that pages of posts and lots of vote data isn’t information unless you see the flip of the guy who took 6 votes suddenly at eod.

I understand the idea that ‘information is better than no information’, but I’d say the quality of info coming from wilgys flip is low compared to most other info going on. That said, I can appreciate someone who feels like they just need it to get their feet in the game.

Having said that, I don’t think it makes it clearly town-favouring. I think it’s just a preference.

This makes me think Golden is town.
I also think Golden is town today and it’s pissing me off to no end that he’s still shading me

By the way I am still waiting on a reason that @falcon45ca voted Seanzie and I don't like that they just dropped a vote and ran. Even if it's just something like 'same as day 1' (which should probably be reconsidered now but whatever) I don't see a good civ reason for doing that.

This feels off
Hmmm... putting suspicion on someone else? :ponder: Very slick...

But you also make a fair point.
Pointing the finger of suspicion is rather the point of the game, not sure why you're acting perplexed by someone doing so.(further reading does indicate you're a newbie, so this isn't as weird as originally thought)

wigly what's your read accuracy like?
Idk, I think I'm at least 65% accurate. Pegged 3/4 of the scum in last game only reading like 1/4th of the posts and shitposting half the time.

Fr though, I really want to finish the new Pokemon games.
thoughts on pegging?

seanzie is 33

I'm 61, if you'd like to put that in your spreadsheet.
no spreadsheets, the information does help me form reads, different mental models by age
lucy being part of the peanut gallery early.

Abashed the devil stood and felt how awful goodness is and saw Virtue in her shape how lovely: and pined his loss
A little grandiose for an "I'm town!" post, but it's Paradise Lost so I'll accept it.

Oi, long time no see. How've you been?
Been good, enjoying mafia retirement.
Is 11 words in 2 posts an effective method for shaking off the rust?
For day 0 which I usually ignore, kind of. The Great Wall of Soneji is where the real shaking off comes in.
lucy wrote: Mon Nov 28, 2022 3:35 pm dennis, how well do you know your mom and brother
Kneejerk reaction is that this is the wolfiest post in the game so far, especially considering lucy's previous posts all being peanut gallery type discussion. It just sounds ludicrous to be asking how well someone knows their own family for the purposes of this kind of game.
lucy wrote: Mon Nov 28, 2022 3:37 pm kate, why did you make them signup?
This question has zero relevance to anyone's alignment in this game.

Am I voting you? No

Seanzie is the wolfiest person so far minus golden
Bad vibe from sabi for immediately jumping on Marmot after shading them continuously for their prior absence during first half of day 1, then trying to shield themselves from suspicion with a weak "my vote isn't on you" response, as if wolves don't throw shade on people they aren't currently voting.
Matahari wrote: Tue Nov 29, 2022 11:45 am i want to post my thoughts so far, while I have a minute. They are definitely not deep thoughts, but how deep can they be on day 1?
New players get a pass, until later in the game. Absent players, as well.
if I don't mention you, its because I have you as town for now.

Falcon45ca- I didn't find it suspicious that you chose someone quickly because with movable votes, it seems like a lot of players throw votes around in a slap-happy fashion. then you were questioned about it, and you promptly posted quotes for why you made your vote. This looked legit to me at the time. Later it occurred to me that maybe you did all that too quickly, Pre-planned? But someone, Sabiplz, I think, said this was normal for your town game.

Soneji posted, I think, but I'll need to go back and look to make sure. ???

Lucy- so far, is reminding me of Dr. Wilgy. Too random to read, and weird posting just annoys me because I don't know what to do with it. I'd like to hear from players who are familiar with them.

Seanzie made a very risky statement for a town player to make. Or just an 'I can't be bothered' statement. Since it was preceded by an 'Ugh', I'm going with the former.

Sabiplz drew attention to his post, then backed away from it, then said she rarely voted early or often, then 17 minutes later she voted for Seanzie. None of this feels right.

Golden got a vote from Falcon, and although Falcon's reasons would not be enough to convince me to vote someone, I thought they were ok for a day 1. However after post 486 ( I think, I'll go back and check later and do an ebwop if necessary), I have Golden as town.

Marmot, no clue. I'd like to hear what other players think of him. ???

Everyone else, I have as probably town. I have no absolutes this early, but I'm watching the players above who pinged me. I'd like to hear what other players think of my not so deep thoughts, please.
This looks like forced content mixed with a whole lot of fence sitting, given that you gave nothing reads on myself(absent player) and Marmot, and other reads were basically just game recaps with little actual thoughts of your own. The closest to real thoughts here are with sabi who you seem to suspect but don't actually outright point the finger of suspicion at, and with Falcon who you start to sus then back off because you thought you remember it being said it fits their meta(why should you trust sabi's meta on Falcon here, when you seem to sus sabi as well?). The Seanzie "read" is the most amusing to me, since you present their statement as either a risky town statement, or an IDGAF statement, but you never contemplate is as a wolfy statement.

Current suspects :

Seanzie
Matahari
lucy

sabi to a lesser extent, but I've liked their posting outside of their interactions with Marmot
