Well, it also doesn't help when you have students (and presumably invincible professors) not making cases or being helpful.

Concur. I was astonished at how civvie he sounded. Even though I knew he was bad, I found myself thinking of him as a civ.

So you could have been lynched Day 8 on? Is that it?

Holy crap I hate to say it but I'm glad this game is over lol. I never had a grasp of how to play my role, changing methods and persona s at whim and I really cocked things up. I knew from Jennet that Karin was bad but she had played such a stellar safe game that the only thing I could try to pin on her was that her actions on the Mary lynch. Iv knew it was all weak as sit but I was determined not to blurt out "info! " so tried to force the threads hand by pushing it hyper aggressively. I hoped enough people would guess out roles that they would realize what I was up to but it never gelled. truly trying to make a case on main was a nightmare but I figured i was only back a short time so fuck it let's go for it lol.

I think thta's right. I had a bunch of Horcruxes I had to get through, and I could delay using two of them.

The secrets have been updated on the first page. Regarding the teachers' roles, in order to make the game properly balanced, their votes were worthless, but they did not know that. :mafia:

The 7 Horcruxes
1. Marvolo Gaunt's Ring - because of the curse cast upon it, the ring will decrease the target’s chances of using their power effectively by 50%;
2. Tom Riddle’s Diary - opens the Chamber of Secrets; whoever dares to mention the name of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named will be role blocked the next night;
3. Helga Hufflepuff’s Cup - being under the Gemino Curse, the cup will make Voldemort’s vote worth twice the next day;
4. Salazar Slytherin’s Locket - using the art of Necromancy and the locket, Lord Voldemort can summon an Inferius from the pool of dead players for a Day and a Night period, thus controlling both their vote and power;
5. Rowena Ravenclaw’s Diadem - said to make its bearer wiser, it shall check the role of a living player;
6. Harry Potter - Harry Potter can be lynched the next day;
7. Nagini - the Dark Lord’s only trusted companion shall force its target to speak parseltongue (Insanification, different from that of Luna’s)

Voldemort can only choose a Horcrux on Night 1. For the rest of the nights, they will be hidden in the Night Polls and voted by all the players.

Thank you for this game A Person and Lizzy. The on time posts. The well-written stories. The interesting events. The paranoia. The frustration. The surprises. It's everything I had hoped for. Well done, and know that I will play any game you host.

And probably lose. :sigh:

Thank you sir. :)

Wooooooooh! Great game everyone!! This was a ton of fun, thank you for hosting Lizzy and AP. I really, really wanted this one. Our position in the game was very fragile and it could have all come crashing down at any moment. Thankfully our team was AWESOME and we were able to make a couple of key moves. The Jennet rez almost sank our entire team but we pulled ourselves out of the depths and played balls to the wall.

Thanks Elo, llama and INH, it was a pleasure eating Death with you all. :slick:

Another thing that made me less worried about Malin was how professors worked. Anne went HARD for Malin, then all of sudden said "Malin isn't Mafia." So I thought Malin (professor) found Anne (student).

EVENTS - The Quest for the Deathly Hallows
1. The cloak of invisibility - renders its user completely invisible, thus removing the player off the poll the next day and making them immune to all night actions;
2. The Resurrection Stone - One of the three Deathly Hallows, the Resurrection Stone gives its owner the power to bring back a form of the dead. However, because they are but shadows of their former selves, reason for which they can no longer use their previous power and their vote shall be worthless. If a student is granted the stone and they choose to resurrect another student from a different house, they too shall be resurrected.
3. The Elder Wand - won by Märet because you haven't been studying properly for Arithmancy ;) and this is the lovely message she received: You are now a last man standing serial killer, and thus your previous role is no longer relevant. (Please do not share this with anyone, not even your teammates). You will kill every night. You will survive the first attempt on your life. You will have a 50% chance to survive the second attempt on your life - Juliets, this is how you died :hugs:

Here's how the potion worked: if you get lynched you will be revealed as someone else. You have two options:

1. a random student from the pool of night killed players;
2. a Harry Potter character of your choice that is not included in the role list.

The Elder Wand event worked like this: the names for the Elder Wand poll were randomized, and encoded using each sock's character, heart, and social numbers. To do that, I used this:

Code: Select all

input = open("data.txt")
table = {"a":1, "b":2, "c":3, "d":4, "e":5, "f":6, "g":7, "h":8, "i":9,
	      "j":1, "k":2, "l":3, "m":4, "n":5, "o":6, "p":7, "q":8, "r":9,
	      "s":1, "t":2, "u":3, "v":4, "w":5, "x":6, "y":7, "z":8}
print("character heart social")
for line in input:
    line = line.replace(" ", "").lower()
    val_list = [0,0,0]
    for char in line:
        if char in table:
            if char in "aeiou":
                val_list[1] += table[char]
            else:
                val_list[2] += table[char]
            val_list[0] += table[char]
    out_list = [str(val_list[0]), str(val_list[1]), str(val_list[2])]
    for i in range(len(out_list)):
        while len(out_list[i]) > 1:
            temp = 0
            for char in out_list[i]:
                temp += int(char)
            out_list[i] = str(temp)
    output = out_list[0] + " " + out_list[1] + " " + out_list[2]
    print(line + output)
And we used the numbers only, hoping our students were keeping up in their studies. :P[/b][/color]

How Draco's recruiting would have worked: if he was first found by Lucius, he would have automatically joined the Death Eaters and could not be recruited by Snape. However, if he were found by Snape first and after by Lucius, he could have chosen his alignment and could have betrayed the Slytherins.

Which other BTSC groups ended up forming? Besides the obvious Jennet/Barbara connection :D

If those had gotten out of hand it could have become a real problem for us.

Can someone please tell me who casts the disintegrating curse? And if it was someone good, what made you think I was bad? I was quieter than normal in the beginning because i was getting a game up and running on rm.

I feel good that I had you lynched either way. :p
I almost said "Yes, really ironic that an English professor doesn't know how word play works" but then I remembered we're not supposed to out real identities. :|
Any reason you couldn't have been a teensy more helpful early on, instead of, you know, being yourself?

You could have had BTSC with bea, me, and SVS. We could have ruled the world.
More helpful than nabbing Lucious Malfoy *and* Voldemort?

You did nothing helpful all game. :p

I was fucking officious all game. :(

In between, you and I could have done well.

Nothing apart from calling out Voldemort multiple times and having nobody listen to a word of it :P

I could have done more, but I could certainly have done less. Far less. Like, I could have only caught 1 baddie, for example.

Sometimes it will naturally come out, but it can be contained if we just remember that this is a game on a message board forum that 99.99% of the population of the Earth has never heard of before. No matter how successful anyone is, it means just about nothing.

I don't think you "caught" anyone. You voted for one Day 1 (luck) and didn't vote again until Day 5 (and voted last). Sorry, that's not catching anyone.

:p Thankfully you made it easy for us to refute you because you didn't back your accusations up with anything. That's also how we were able to discredit Jennet, despite the fact that she had info on most of our team :feb:

Well deserved win baddies.

TH that was an amazing game you played. I mean spot on perfect. Wow.

DH - you have NO idea how sad we were after your lynch. I called myself every name you could imagine for "dumbass" :sigh:

Elo - well done. You should have heard Epi in chat. "there's no way she's bad. I'd know." Yup. That spouse thing is pretty strong, but not foolproof. BDH conned me once or twice back in the day. (He even NKed me once!)
I was born to speak all mirth and no matter.... :wine:
