The only way I would have done either of those things would be if I were convinced that neither Metalmarsh nor anyone else was there to do it on time... and I would have done the next scheduled square.

So, Metalmarsh went off the schedule and voted for E3 without notice. Indiglo, Scotty, Ricochet, sig, I am interested to know what you think of that, since the four of you lost your cool a little when I went off the expected plan.

Thank you early bird S~V~S for hitting up that 5:49am timeslot so awesomely. Who is up for 11:49, in exactly two and a half hours?
I voiced my plan almost 12 hours beforehand, so everyone had plenty of time to disagree with it if they wanted to.

Linki: NO!

I don't know if a two-team mafia is possible in this game, based on show context, but I'm leaning on doubting that. The Final Five in the show split into four cylons that continued to help the human race and 1 Cylon that embraced being a Cylon against humans. That's hardly probable material for a second mafia team, to bloom out of nowhere, at least imo.

LoRab-it isn't that I didn't like your post. I thought it was a very nice reachout. I just can't trust everyone here has the agenda to help me figure out how to play the game better. Also, the very definition of Mafia is uninformed majority vs informed minority with the possibility of multiball-more than one scumteam or an independent killer like a SK or 3rd party role with a different wincon or even a traitor-has a wincon with scum but they don't know who this person is and they don't share BTSC. But the bottom line is, it is extremely difficult for me to play a game where the very definition of Mafia is not in place. I will do my best but it will include traditional scumhunting.

linki-Here ya go Rico, I left the whole post in tact:

Yep, that's tongue-in-cheek, due to ika going semantic between "scum" and "mafia". Not my fault for that and not my implication.

I think my shift was the last to be booked, chronologically. We can expand to May 12 and further, but I will definitely not be able to commit after tomorrow and I sure hope we do blow up the RezHub until I get back from business (on Monday).

Gotcha. Thanks for the clarification.

And (back to semantics), we are working from different definitions of the game. I think it was LC who came up with the tag line for The Piano of "creative mafia gaming." I am fully confident that you'll develop your process of how to play different versions of the game. :)

So here's a list of who is Good and who is Bad, based on the show.

Admiral William AdamaGOOD

President Laura RoslinGOOD *Roslin's prophecies are interesting, this seems to be an info role, and could be very important to figuring out the game.

Kara ‘Starbuck’ ThraceGOOD *"cannot be resurrected" - she's not a Cylon, and yet Goldama felt it necessary to let us know this. Apparently humans have the option of being resurrected somehow as well... just not Starbuck. Just as well. They totally messed up her story arc by the end of the series with a confusing and too-weird storyline.

Gaius BaltarNEUTRAL/INDY?

Lee 'Apollo' Adama - GOOD

Saul TighGOOD *Who is silenced today?

Galen TyrolGOOD

Karl ‘Helo’ AgathonGOOD *This guy could surprise us one day when someone with second-most votes gets lynched. We should watch the second-most-voted as we place our votes... just in case.

Felix Gaeta - BAD BAD BAD

Anastasia 'Dee' Dualla - GOOD *Ika was probably a Cylon because he died and Dee is still alive.

Cally Henderson -GOOD

Sam AndersGOOD

Lou ‘Kat’ KatraineGOOD

Brendon ‘Hot Dog’ CostanzaGOOD *Host, will we know that the kill rebounded? Or will it just look like a kill on the new target was intended?

Doc CottleGOOD

Billy Keikeya - GOOD

Tom Zarek - NEUTRAL/INDY? BAD? MAYBE GOOD???

Ellen Tigh - GOOD

Tory FosterBAD

Romo LampkinGOOD

John Cavil (number one) - BAD

Leoben Conoy (number two) - BAD

D’Anna Biers (number three) - BAD

Simon O’Neill (number four) - BAD

Aaron Doral (number five) - BAD

Caprica Six (number six) – NEUTRAL/INDY?

Sharon ‘Boomer’ Valerii (number eight) - BAD

Sharon ‘Athena’ Agathon (number eight) – GOOD

[secret role] Might be human. Might be cylon. Might be stationed on Galactica. Might not. Who really knows. WHO REALLY KNOWS?

As soon as the res ship is destroyed I'm vote parking Epi until he's lynched. If he's never lynched, then I will say who else I think is scum, and give reads but I will never move off Epi as long as he's still in the game. You guys can lynch me if you don't like this.

If we stick with the checkerboard, but start making random moves within that pattern, it's no longer a pattern. It's a pretense of a pattern.

We need pattern to avoid a baddie missionary messing up with us.

Saying "as long as I put a dot anywhere within a circle, it's ok" is not ok. Because the keyword is "anywhere" aka random.

I agree with Long Con's walkthrough, except he maybe hates Felix Gaeta tad too much. Felix becomes mutinous very late in the show. I have no idea how to interpret Leoben, once his story gets linked with Starbuck, but originally he was villanous.

Theories on secret role so far have been The Hybrid (Matt said it). I could even add Cylon number 7, which was entirely decomissioned in the series. It would be quite bold on the Host's behalf to design a Cylon that has no basis in the show.

Yeah ok.

Do you think that sticking to the pattern of going every other sector (the underlined ones), row-by-row has a better chance of finding the rezz ship than randomly picking a sector (from the underlined ones)? Otherwise, I don't see your point.

I never called my method a pattern either.

Your mission this morning, should you choose to accept it is to send Kat and Hot Dog on a sortie at 5:49am EST. If you choose to continue our original checkerboard pattern, go with sector B2.

You also have many other sector options. Take a look at the grid below, you may choose a random sector that tickles or fancy, or start a diagonal off one of the other blue sectors.

A1 A2 A3 A4 A5 A6
B1 B2 B3 B4 B5 B6
C1 C2 C3 C4 C5 C6
D1 D2 D3 D4 D5 D6
E1 E2 E3 E4 E5 E6

@Rico~ when Indi posted this she said pattern or not as we please. I went with the pattern, but if any of the sectors was an "8" I might have deviated. Deviation will keep it from being predictable if the cylons know where the ship is. I thought we worked this out yesterday?

Replying as I catch up...

@ LoRab, Re Final 5 - I'd love for others who watch the show to chime in with their thoughts too on this. My stance on the Final 5 is this: In the show (I'll try to avoid spoilers as best I can) there were some humans who were high ranking, well trusted members of the human race. Some had worked together for decades, and were basically family, after being through so much together. Some of these beloved humans later find out they were Cylons. IIRC, none of them betrayed the human race or cause. (That one I'll have to review, but I'm pretty sure that is true.) They each had a decision to make, though. Fight with the bad Cylons, or fight with their human comrades. They chose to fight with their human comrades.

So my guess is that those humans who will become the Final 5 in this game (which I'm guessing may be an event triggered by something that happens in thread?) will also have a choice. They may be able to decide to join the bad Cylons, or stick with the humans.

I want to read more on the wiki when I have time, just to remind me of some of the nuances. As Rico said, as the show progressed it became extremely nuanced, and became much harder to label everyone bad or good. Though some of the Cylons remained evil throughout. At one point, there was heated disagreement between the Cylons themselves as to what direction to take, as well.

It was Marmot choosing a random square, iirc. By that time, we had discussed so many options, and no one wanted to only stick with the straight checkerboarding, for fear that was a manipulation. So my thinking was we'd come to a consensus on another pattern - like diagonals, for example. Marmot stuck to the original checkerboard pattern, just did a rando sector on it.

It didn't feel like dicking around to me, so I'm cool with it. Did it bother you? Do you think it would be better for us to stick to a definite pattern? (Such as diagonals along the checkerboard?)

And I'm not personally ruling out that there could be more than one mafia. I don't know the show, but can someone who does comment on if would it make sense for there to be an evil faction of humans? Could that be the final 5? Or would it make sense for there to be 2 cylon mafia groupings?
I don't know if a two-team mafia is possible in this game, based on show context, but I'm leaning on doubting that. The Final Five in the show split into four cylons that continued to help the human race and 1 Cylon that embraced being a Cylon against humans. That's hardly probable material for a second mafia team, to bloom out of nowhere, at least imo.
I appreciate this Final 5 talk. 4:1 ratio is pretty good.

That reminds me - I labelled Tory as BAD because she was the one Final Five that sided against the humans, BUT the fact that she is not necessarily Final Five in this game makes that alignment analysis less sturdy.
