Merry Christmas everyone. I hope your holiday season is full of happiness, warmth, and all that other smarmy stuff they put in Hallmark cards. When the season of spreading joy and cheer is over, remember to come back here so you can lie, manipulate, and murder for fun.

Blessings and best wishes,

Tonight at bedtime, Chloe (7) mentioned how she curls up in a ball at night if she gets cold. Lilah suddenly spouts off “Yeah. Sometimes when I get cold at night, I curl up like a fetus.”

Lilah is three.

I don’t know whether to be proud of her vocabulary, scared that my daughter received an double-sized nerd gene from me, or both.

Probably both.

You should be proud of the double-sized nerd gene. And excited (that's one nerdy friend of yours who will last for the ages).

(though scared is appropriate too)

Don't come to Canada right now, or you may feel disappointed with a hint of irony.

Was there ever a child who was proud of a Participation Award? I don't think those phony awards really did damage to a generation. Maybe the sentiment behind them did, but there was no age where I didn't look at a Participation Award as only slightly better than a sheet of used toilet paper.

My brother was. He had birth defects that kept him from participating in most athletics, and when he was a kid they didn't really have special needs athletics. So when the neighborhood Soccer League started giving participation trophies, he was super excited about having an actual sports trophy. He is in his 40's now and still has that thing.

The people that complain about today’s generation being weaned on participation trophies belong to the generation of parents who were giving them out. It’s not like kids got together and decided they’d get them ...

I was supposed to have my first class today. Instead we got a few feet of snow. If the school closes tomorrow as well, I’ll have to wait a whole nother week. At that point it will have been over two months since I had a class to attend.

What has my life come to that this is what upsets me?

I went outside to dig my car out of the snow. It’s so cold that my eyes started to water, and then that moisture froze my eyelashes together. It was a new experience.

We're at -30 celsius with the wind chill. I don't plan on going back outside today. Or tomorrow, apparently, because i just got another email letting me know that the school will be closed for a second straight day. that's my entire first week of classes snuffed out by snow.

I have a theory about Phil and Groundhogs Day that involves a mass conspiracy to make people accept this shitty world. To most people groundhog day is nothing but a fun story on the TV news, but really its just a dumb ass tradition that has no real meaning at all. What do we see on the local news every night? Story after story of how shitty people are to each other is all I ever see.....and then sports and your local five day forecast. It's depressing as hell. I don't watch news any more but I assume this is still the cycle. So Groundhog Day to me is just a slap in the face reminding the world that its never going to get any better but hey here's a goofy feel good story for you to prove that it's not so bad.

I just made all that up on the fly as far as it being a conspiracy but now that i look back at that depressingly dark take on Groundhog Day, it looks legit.

Insert Martin Freeman GIF here.

Have a great day!!!

It was pretty fun, all things considered. A lot of work tho. But for me as a GM/DM I like it because it fits with the tone I'm hoping to set. Hopefully people end up liking them anyway lol.

I woke up this morning with a determination to "take advantage of the nice weather." It's -3 degrees celsius, but the sun is shining and there's no overpowering gusts of wind. It was like a dream and I enjoyed a very frigid jog in the park.

was recently in eastern france for work and stayed a couple extra days to explore the city. the hotel was nice as hell, the city was incredible and i have serious desires to move there forever. had a great time over all and bought a crapton of clothes and stuff...except for one extremely unfortunate event i cannot erase from memory.

as i was packing my room to check out, i was doing a final check to make sure i hadn't forgotten anything. then i spot a lipstick right next to where they put the safe thingy. and i was like hmmm, this looks familiar but not very very familiar.... pick it up, open it, touch it, realize it's not lipstick. yeah, definitely not lipstick. it was someone's travel vibrator. i wanted to cry.

Trust me, 38 is too much.

You open all windows, turn on fans, wear the minimum amount of clothing and it's still so hot you wanna hit something.

Now it's 31. Much more comfortable.
