It would only work if we want a stalemate with no winners. If we want that, it would 100% work. I, personally, do not want that though.

bah - this is harder to do in such a fast paced game.

been forever since I played any kind of speed game. I forgot how hard it can be. :(

I don't really have any supisions on anyone. :(

random says metalmarsh. I feel badly voting someone I don't even know. :(

Have to vote in the other game, will try to hurry up and come back and see if we can settle on someone for any sort of reason.....

23 Years Prior.

Aria was a mellow but inquisitive child, always asking questions and analyzing life's mysteries. Surprisingly precocious for age 6, her fathers spoke to her more as an adult and did not talk down to her.

She was excited about moving into their new home on Pleasant Terrace. 3246, to be exact. The family pulled their blue sedan into the driveway of the three-story house. Lars adjusted the mirror to see if the moving van was in sight before he exited the car.

"Let's stay in the car for a moment," Matteo said to Aria.

"Papa, where is Daddy going?" she asked.

"Probably to see if the realtor is here yet.Her office is in walking distance, so she won't have a car parked out here if she is inside," Matteo told her.

Lars gave the thumbs up and Aria catapulted herself out the door. Matteo chuckled as she whirled past him.

"Can I see my room now?" she said to Lars but then looking back to Matteo for approval. Aria had not known life without Matteo, whom she called "Papa."

"Sure, chicken. Just be careful on those stairs before we lay down carpeting on them," Lars said.

"It's the first door on the left," Matteo added.

"Okay!" Aria said as her tiny legs worked as pistons to fly her up the stairs. Lars went back into the kitchen to talk to the realtor.

"Papa!" she called from the top of the stairs.

"Yes, pickle?" Matteo said, looking up from documents.

"Which way is left?"

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Over the next week, the family busied themselves with settling into their new home. The first floor held visiting areas, the kitchen and the dining room, and the second floor held three bedrooms and a den. The third floor was only half the size as the other floors, and Matteo used it as his office. A freelance architect, the loft's open window lighting was perfect for drawing his creations.

It seemed be any old house until the day the new wallpaper was applied. Matteo and Lars had selected a modern print in greens and blues that would be applied in the first floor hallways. The previous wallpaper was stained and dated, and had rivets or striations about hip-level on the wall. The realtor mused that this trenches were caused by the previous owner, who was wheelchair bound. The hallway was slightly too big for the wheelchair, and the constant back-and-forth in the wheelchair over the years caused these trenches to occur.

"Oh that looks wonderful," Lars said to the worker who was flattening out the last strip of wallpaper. "It really brightens up this hallway and the dark floors and baseboards."

"I'd clear out for a bit while it dries," instructed the worker.

"Family!" Lars called down to hall into the kitchen, where Matteo and Aria were both reading in the breakfast nook.

"Whaaaaaat?" they both answered.

"Would you like to drive into town for some pizza?"

"Pizza, yay!" Aria shouted, running down the stairs.

Lars picked her up in his arms.

Aria sucked on a piece of her hair. "Daddy, can I get green olives as my one topping?"

"Green olives, eww! How am I supposed to steal a slice if you get that?" He swooped her up and blew a raspberry on her belly. Matteo looked on, amused.

"Why can't you just like pepperoni like a normal child?" Lars asked her, putting her on his shoulders as they headed out to the car.

"Yeah, everyone knows that anchovies are objectively the best topping," Matteo chimed in.

Lars and Aria made gagging sounds.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When they returned from attempted carbocide, Aria was sent up to her room to prepare for bathtime.

"After-dinner drink?" Matteo asked Lars.

"I would murder a man for a G&T," Lars said frankly.

"Just as long as that man isn't me," Matteo laughed.

Both men abruptly stopped in their tracks. The trenches were back in the freshly-applied wallpaper.

"How could this ---?" Matteo asked, perplexed.

"Huh. Well I guess the ridging wasn't from the wheelchair eroding it away after all. We must have a leak and that's what's causing the marks. It must be water damage. I'll call a plumber first thing tomorrow," Lars decided.

"I guess, if you're sure," Matteo said.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The morning light brought the plumber, who could not find a leak, breach or any faults at all in the plumbing,

"I don't think that's where your answers lie, Mack," he said before quickly leaving the house. He didn't charge them for the visit, but simply shook their hands and wished them good luck.

"Let's take Ari out for an ice cream and check in on that paint store on Central. Maybe we could just stain and then paint these walls. That'd cover up those unsightly trenches," Matteo suggested.

"Do you think that will look okay?" Lars asked.

"It can't be worse than this."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Over the next few weeks, Matteo and Lars tried several types of paint and sealants, each time trying more coats than the last. But to no avail. The trenches kept coming back each time.

"It's funny, they look like they could almost be nailmarks from a really tall man," Lars mused.

"They look more like clawmarks," Matteo said, a shiver running down his spine.

The two men turned and looked at one another.

"Maybe it's time to call someone," Matteo said.

"Another contractor?" Lars said.

"No, not a contractor. Not at all like a contractor. There must be experts for something like this," Matteo posited.

"I'll get the phonebook."

------------------------------------------------------------------

2 hours later, Ed & Lorraine Warren's phone began to ring.

What part of "my reasons are my own" don't you understand? :)

I can elaborate a little. I was pretty sure that the lone baddie in a game like this wouldn't miss the first opportunity to lynch a civilian, so I wanted to protect you from being killed.

how do we feel about talking at night? In a game this small and this fast, I can't see any practical reason to avoid it outside of the last minute PM by our one baddie.

I do think though it might be a risk I'm willing to take. I can't see any way around talking at night and still making an informed decision.

That's fair enough - what do you think of my point about AP and his fairly lame reason for voting MetalMarsh? I know my random was lame but AP said he did it because MM was too quiet - and a look at page one says that he was anything but quiet.

The trouble with AP is that he says things that make no logical sense ALL THE TIME. I think I have lynched him like three times for being illogical, and he always flips civ. That being said, I do think you make a good point and I am not feeling great about him right now.

yea. IDK - cuz I know matty is always saying things that make no logical sense - :sigh: It's frustrating when he's civ and also useful when he's bad so I see why he still does it.

And for as much as his vote makes me all "wait? wot?" the defense of vompi makes me pause a bit. I know they always do, but that post read genuine to me - ya know?

And also - there is only one baddie. So it's not like there's teammate defending going on...

I think it's a necessity, then again, I'm not sure I see why we shouldn't talk at night.

A tour of their Room of Curiosities:

Ed and Lorraine arrived at 3246 Pleasant Terrace. Over the week of telephone conversations with the Nykvists, activity had grossly escalated at the house. Keys went missing and were found in the butter drawer of the fridge. Shoes mysteriously appeared in the back of an unused cubby under the stairs. Most worrying though was how morose Aria had been in the last week. Barely eating and barely talking, she had grown increasingly withdrawn after the wallpaper incident.

Lars and Matteo greeted the Warrens at the door.

"My goodness, I can really feel a heavy presence in this house," Lorraine said.

Ed talked to the men while Lorraine wandered through the first floor. She shivered as she walked by the cubby under the stairs.

May I go to the upper floors?" she asked Matteo and Lars.

"Yes, of course, you have free run of the house," Lars said.

"Yeah, let us know if you need anything," Matteo added.

"And where is the child right now? Aria, where is she?" Ed asked.

"She's at a neighbor's house for the day. They have a little boy that's the same age as Aria. I think they are going to a park today," Matteo explained.

Lorraine headed up the stairs. She paused at Aria's room. She put her hand on the doorknob, but did not go inside. Instead, she went down the hall to the door that lead to the third floor. The stairs had a door at each end, which made the air in that stairwell quite heavy and stagnant.

"I'm going up to third floor," she said to the men below.

"Wait until we get up there!" Ed said from below.

As Ed, Matteo and Lars hustled up the stairs, Lorraine opened up the bottom door of the stairwell. Stepping gingerly, she was taken aback by the palpable level of dread she was feeling. The men had reached the second floor and Ed was standing at the bottom of the stairs, holding the door open.

"Should we follow her?" Matteo asked Ed.

"Not just yet," Ed replied. "I like to give her a little space to figure out who we have living here with you first."

Lorraine reached the top of the stairs and opened the door. As she tried to enter the darkened room, she was pushed down the stairs.
