honestly, if it is tim then I'm going to realize my soul read thing on him is real. like, I legit was so frustrated how I didn't get my "oh, yeah tim is town" read on him.

plus now I will know how he is as scum.

but if it isn't him then idk. I think it's just tim though.

like how he literally stopped scum hunting and just been afk. how most of the people tim has been voting has been wrong.

the fact that tim just sheeped into the Radishes vote. town!tim doesn't do that. he was like oh we are piling on Radishes? okay I will just vote there too.

One thing I would like to note is that Tim claimed he can go to any Shrine any night, and can repeat the same Shrine multiple nights in a row.

My own power works the same way, I went to namira last night and I am allowed to go there tonight, I just asked the host.

That doesn't preclude Tim from being an independent role, it just lends credibility to some of his claim at least.

Day 8

Image

Timsup2nothin has been killed. He was the Imperial Merchant, and Molag Bal's Champion. The Mace of Molag Bal has been destroyed.
Spoiler: show
Role: Imperial Merchant
Race: Imperial
Alignment: Rogue (Self-aligned)
Available Shrines: All

Molag Bal’s Champion. Each Night you can access a Shrine of your choice. For every player other than yourself visiting the same Shrine as you each Night, you get a +1 charge counter. Additionally, up to 1 other player visiting the same Shrine as you on any given Night will have their access to that Shrine reset; they will be able to access that Shrine immediately regardless of any designated role restrictions on their access to that Shrine. You cannot be blocked from accessing a Shrine.

You wield the Artifact the Mace of Molag Bal.
When the wielder of the Mace of Molag Bal has a charge total of 3, they may perform a nightkill. Nightkills with the Mace will always take place at Molag Bal’s Shrine. Performing a kill resets the player’s charge counter total to 0, though they can receive up to 1 additional counter on a Night that they perform a kill if another player (other than their victim) visits Molag Bal’s Shrine the same Night.
For each kill you perform, you begin each day with 1 vote subtracted from your total in the poll (unless it is LYLO), up to 2 subtracted votes.
The Artifact will remain in your possession as long as you remain alive. It will be destroyed upon your death.
You may not kill other Champions. If you attempt to kill a Champion, nothing will happen and your counter total will remain intact.

You win the game by performing 3 nightkills. You must kill at least one member of each faction to achieve this win condition. You can win alongside the Mafia team if you survive to a Final 2 scenario in which you and a Mafia member are the only remaining players. If you achieve this win condition prior to the game being otherwise resolved, you will be removed from the game and announced as a winner. The game will continue in your absence. You will be unable to vote via Azura’s Star in this instance, as you will not be dead.
Alternatively, you may win by surviving to the end of the game. If you are one of 2 remaining players, with the other player being Town, you will win alone.

With all threats eliminated, Town wins the game.
Thank you all for playing.

Race: Dunmer
Alignment: Town
Available Shrines: Hermaeus Mora, Mephala, Namira, Nocturnal, Sheogorath
  • Azura - If you die while accessing the Shrine of Azura, you may leave a Last Will in the form of 1 on-topic post within 24 hours of your death.
  • Hermaeus Mora - You may target a player to learn one Shrine they have access to or one that they do not have access to.
  • Mephala - You may target a player and learn what type(s) of abilities (including your own) are directed at them that Night.
  • Namira - You may target a player to learn whether or not they are Molag Bal’s Champion.
  • Nocturnal - You may target a player to learn what Shrine they access that Night.
  • Sheogorath - Chaos.
You may not visit the same shrine twice during any 3-night span. For example, if you visit Sheogorath’s Shrine on Night 1, you may not access it again until Night 4.

Enrique / Vulgard:
Spoiler: show
Role: Orc Berserker
Race: Orc
Alignment: Town

  • Boethiah - You may target a player. Any night actions targeting you will be redirected to your target that Night, and vice versa.
  • Malacath - You may target a player. That player will be both protected and roleblocked that Night.
  • Peryite - You may not be targeted by non-lethal night actions while accessing Peryite’s Shrine.
  • Sanguine - 1-shot ability: You may target a dead player to permanently swap this Shrine ability for one of that player’s abilities. You will have access to the targeted player’s ability for the remainder of the game, subject to your normal Shrine Access restrictions. You will continue to access the ability at Sanguine’s Shrine regardless of the ability’s originally-designated Shrine.
  • Sheogorath - Chaos.
You may not visit the same shrine twice during any 3-night span. For example, if you visit Sheogorath’s Shrine on Night 1, you may not access it again until Night 4.

Gavial:
Spoiler: show
Role: Khajiit Hunter
Race: Khajiit
Alignment: Town
Available Shrines: Hircine, Mephala, Nocturnal, Sheogorath
  • Hircine - You may target a player to learn who, if anyone, they target that Night.
  • Mephala - You may target any two players, including yourself. You will be told if they share common access to any one shrine other than Sheogorath’s. In the event that players share access to multiple shrines, you will only be notified of one common shrine between them.
  • Namira - You will dodge up to one night action targeted at you, chosen at random among all actions targeting you that Night.
  • Nocturnal - You can target a player to learn who, if anyone, targets them that Night. You may not self-target with this ability.
  • Sheogorath - Chaos.
You may not visit the same shrine twice during any 3-night span. For example, if you visit Sheogorath’s Shrine on Night 1, you may not access it again until Night 4.

Long Con:
Spoiler: show
Role: Priest of Arkay
Race: Imperial
Alignment: Town
Available Shrines: All

You may visit any Shrine each Night. If a player visiting the same Shrine as you is nightkilled that night, you will receive a copy of their most recent night action report. If that player would have received a report on the Night that they died, you will receive that report.

TonyStarkPrime:
Spoiler: show
Role: Thalmor Dignitary
AKA: Elenwen
Race: Altmer
Alignment: Town
Available Shrines: Azura, Boethiah, Clavicus Vile, Mehrunes Dagon, Sheogorath
  • Azura - If you die while accessing Azura’s Shrine, you will be able to share your most recent night action report with a player of your choice, chosen within 24 hours of your death.
  • Boethiah - Visiting the Shrine of Boethiah resets your access to all other Shrines. You may visit any of your available Shrines the Night after visiting Boethiah regardless of how recently you had previously visited that Shrine, except for Boethiah’s. You will always need to wait the standard two phases to access Boethiah’s Shrine.
  • Clavicus Vile - Your vote the following Day will count as 2, but you will also begin the Day with +2 votes against you in the poll.
  • Hermaeus Mora - You may target a role in the game to learn one ability available to that role. You will learn which Shrine the ability is accessed at, but you will not be told which player the role belongs to, what the role’s alignment is, or whether or not the ability has been accessed during the game at any point.
  • Mehrunes Dagon - You may target any Shrine to learn whether or not an Artifact is present there that Night.
  • Sheogorath - Chaos.
You may not visit the same shrine twice during any 3-night span. For example, if you visit Sheogorath’s Shrine on Night 1, you may not access it again until Night 4.

Since so many of you could not resist the allure of "Chaos", I'll explain how that worked:

There were several possible outcomes of visiting Sheogorath's shrine. All of the options were assigned a range of numbers between 1-100, and when someone visited the shrine we'd RNG a result. 1-55 was "posting curse". 55-100 featured, in uneven intervals, several much more useful things like "1-shot investigative ability", "double vote", "remove self from the poll", etc.
But the best option, which just barely missed being landed on Night 1 (by TSP) was the Wabbajack. There was 3 or 4% chance that a player visiting Sheogorath's shrine could receive the Wabbajack, a new Artifact, and become Sheogorath's Champion. The Wabbajack would grant the player a nightly redirection ability. I was rooting for it every time one of you went for chaos.

After Radiohead, I wanted to make a game where the mafia team had a shared pool of abilities, rather than everyone being assigned their own ability. I'd also just kind of always wanted to run a general Elder Scrolls themed game, and the idea for shrines jumped out naturally to me as a thematic fit for that mechanic. And I liked it so much that I decided it worked for the whole game.

I wanted to make it another game that blended the old school syndicate style of playing without relying on claims with the newer trends centered around playing with claims. There were both direct and indirect claim deterrents. The Razor was obviously a direct deterrent. Indirectly, there were so many abilities out there, and so many of them only incidentally useful, that the potential benefit of claiming was relatively limited unless the information was very pertinent. Players would be receiving some information on their own, but it would not really be useful enough to necessitate sharing on its own. And then there were also a lot of abilities repeated across both alignments, just to muddy the waters a little bit more. The game was a bit convoluted by design.

Syn's role was the only one that I felt could have been exploited to be more powerful than it was intended, but that was nullified some because he was killed the instant he claimed it, so maybe it really wasn't all that powerful in the end.

I felt like the game played out well and everyone had a fair shot at winning. I welcome feedback.

I had actually ruled in private that that would not be the case. I realize his rolecard says that, but I wasn't going to allow a shared victory in those circumstances. The "Three kills and retire from the game" win condition was put there with the idea that he'd hit the target without the game being otherwise resolved.

this is why I liked the game so much. I dislike claiming with a passion. personal reasons mostly. I'm nad at it and 99.99% of the time I mess it up. I loved that claiming in this game would be negative in some ways.

there is tons of reasonable why I enjoyed this game. I can't list them all.

any negative aspects of the game has 0 to do with the set up or your hosting.

I think you made a really balanced game. the game could have went in so many different ways. I like how the mechanics of the game and the randomness of strangers playing this all together was balanced. I hope you host more games like this.

It's hard to say so in hindsight, but do you think I'm still yeeted when I was if Gavial didn't accidentally get a track on where I went (or rather where I didn't go)? I think I at least survive another day, which also would've increased our chances of winning.

Good game town! It's probably karma that a 3P finally accidentally assisted in a town win rather than stealing it from them
