Information
1) Day periods last 48 hours. Night periods after Night 0 last 23 hours.
2) Votes will not be changeable.
3) No double-targeting (targeting the same player on consecutive nights) or self-targeting is permitted. Self-voting is also not permitted.
4) All players on the side of the winning faction will win...well...no, that's not quite right. It's something like that.
5) Do not role-claim or out someone's role. If you end up spilling your guts, the game is designed to sufficiently punish you.
6) If you miss a combination of 3 lynch-votes and/or night actions or if you self-vote at any time, your Participation Score will be negatively affected. You may forgo your night action, but you must PM the Host that you are doing so. If you require a replacement, please inform me as soon as possible.
7) Be good citizens, respectful to your fellow participants. If you need to speak to someone on the outside, PM spacedaisy, who is the moderator on duty.
8) BTSC (behind the scenes communication) is only permitted in host-designated locations.
9) No editing or deleting of posts in the game thread.
10) Dead players should post in the {Dead} Red if they are posting in the game thread.
11) Non-Players should similarly post in {np} Blue if they are posting in the game thread.
12) Living players wishing to discuss something off-topic should do so in {OT} Green.
13) This is the Host color. Please refrain from using it.
14) This is not a rule or expectation, but a request: Please listen to the music that comes before each Host post.

Night 0: Old Friends

Cloudwalk. It used to be a nice place. And then came The Process.
It is now Night 0. You have 24 hours to check in and vote.

All functions are available immediately for use except Kill ( ) and Turn ( ).

I haven't played this video game (though I want to). Regarding the n0 poll, I'm guessing that each option is a different ability that The Process role (independent?) has, and that each individual that votes for a different option will gain information specific to that option. I think it'd be wise to spread our votes then. But that's just my guess.

I'll vote for Jerk, because Epi is a jerk. :P Just kidding. (Or am I?)

The Menace of Self-Voting

The citizens of Cloudwalk believe self-voting is a detrimental and terrible act. The latest poll shows that 79% are against this behavior- an overwhelming majority. Self-voting will result in an automatic P-Score failure, and the information table has been amended to reflect this. Thank you.

I've never played Transistor, so the theme is lost on me. Should I play it? What's the platform?

PC is my drug of choice. I hear it's on PS4, but I don't truck with that. It's on Steam.

Hello players! I will be your Moderator on Duty for this game, and I'm very much looking forward to it.

In case you are wondering, what this means is I will be following along with the game, keeping an eye out for any problems that might crop up. If I think you look like you are having a hard time or flailing a bit, I might contact you. Don't worry, this is not a punishment or whatever. Just touching base.

I'm not here to punish anyone or police the game, I'm here to be an ear for anyone who needs it. So if you are upset with someone or about something please don't hesitate to shoot me a private message. Seriously, we MODs are a crazy bunch of people who love to be the punching bags. If you are pissed, instead of yelling in the thread, come yell at me. I don't mind, trust me I've worked in retail for a long time, I am used to it. I'll be here for whatever you need.

Have fun and kick ass

hello game!

Am I the only player here who's played Transistor? You all should play it, it's a really really cool game with beautiful music and art. I'm not a huge gamer but it's probably my favorite. It's available on steam for both pc and mac and only takes about 8-10 hours of total play time to get through. I really strongly recommend it. But for now I guess I'll have to use my knowledge to try to help figure out what the roles do. I can maybe try to summarize what each of the Functions do in the game (then again, the way you learn them gradually in game is so cool and I hate to spoil them for people :( ) but I can't be sure how Epi has translated them to mafia role abilities.

As for the night zero poll, ugh all of the forms of the Process are so annoying :p I don't remember exactly what all of them do, but probably Cells or Weeds are some of the least annoying/least difficult to fight so I might go with one of those.

I really want to help with my knowledge of the functions from the game but idk how well I can explain the mechanics or how thoroughly because I have very little time in the next couple days. Commencement is tomorrow and I am scheduled back to back with events and family and moving and traveling. I have maybe an hour relatively free now so I'll try to start writing up what I can.

Well luckily there's a transistor wiki so I don't have to attempt to describe what all of the functions do. I'll try to provide some background though.

So, the Transistor. It's a weird sword-ish kinda thing imbued with power and possessed by Red's lover who was killed with it. Throughout the game you gain each of the Functions one by one and can use them to fight off the Process, which are basically a bunch of robots taking over the city.

Now, when you choose which Functions to use, they can each actually do three separate things depending on which type of slot you put them in. The types of slots are Active, Upgrade, and Passive (you don't start off with all the slots, but you unlock them throughout the game so you eventually have 4 Active slots that each have 2 upgrade slots, once you have enough Functions to fill them).

The Active slot is the Function's main ability (and I'm guessing the most relevant to this game). When you put functions in active slots you are choosing them as your main combat abilities. You can Upgrade them with other functions, which will add some effect to the active function. Passive slot functions have an effect that occurs throughout combat.

Here's a wiki page that lists what each of the Functions do in each slot, that might help since I'm bad at explaining things. Again I think the Active slot ability is probably most relevant to the role abilities in this game, but it's possible Epi has planned some crazy shit based on the Upgrade interactions. A lot of the fun of playing Transistor is finding the most effective combinations of active functions and upgrade slot effects.

Turn( ) is a little different. This is an ability that you have throughout the game to temporarily stop time and plan which few functions to use next. Could definitely be an interesting concept in translation to a mafia game.

Epi also mentioned Kill( ) which IIRC is something you get rarely in some special case with a certain passive function, and it gives you an exceptionally strong attack.

Otherwise the functions are all listed on that page, so I encourage taking a look at their effects. I hope this helps!

Thanks nutella that is good to know. Epi made a Bioware game awhile back right? Didn't certain players have kill chances in that game. Maybe that is what the kill() thing means?
