Groundhog Day Mafia

I am unsure if this should run as a Speed game or a Heist. Right now I feel like Heist might make more sense. It wouldn't be based on the characters of the film, just the concept.

The setup is simple- Day 1 repeats itself over and over until either all the baddies have been discovered via lynch or all of the civvies have been outed via lynch and NK. No one actually dies but it's a race to fulfill the wincon.

Thoughts?

Yes.

Although, what happens with the outed players themselves?

Wow. I like this concept a lot.

It's a neat idea. I think it'd be a challenge to balance it, since eventually having numerous confirmed trusted and confirmed non-trusted votes in play would make for bizarre dialogue. I'm not sure how to go about making that work at the moment.

They stay in the game. Each day is a new Day 1, just with additional knowledge (like in the film). Outed baddies could interact in earnest or spam the crap out of the thread. They would all still be able to vote.

As a balance mechanism, I envision each day phase starting in a new thread. All players would get blocked from viewing the previous day's thread, thus removing their ability to go back and search for interactions from earlier.

One thing to consider which could augment that mechanism is to render it illegal for anyone to save quotes or screenshots from one thread to be carried into the next (either quoted posts or the poll, for example). That way everyone has to work on memory alone.

Wow, this sounds amazing! Like Jay, I'm not sure how balance would be maintained, but holy shit, this would make an awesome setup. I'd love to play.

I think changeable votes would be necessary in this setup as a slight advantage in the mafia's favor.

Will there be any difference between living and dead players aside from the dead players having been lynched/nightkilled?

After the amusing Super Bowl commercial, I desperately want to figure out how to make this game work and host it.
