The awards ceremony was all G-Man's idea - very creative, you did an awesome job G!MovingPictures07 wrote:Thanks to all our Socky Hosts for putting together this really awesome shindig for all of us this year. Seriously well-managed and an absolute blast. I look forward to the 2017 Sockys with incredible anticipation.

His daughter, less so.JaggedJimmyJay wrote:Congrats again to all the winners and also the finalists. Many of these were difficult votes, and that's because there are a bunch of great players and personalities around here. If you play Mafia with us, you're swell in my book.
Thanks for presenting the awards with such creativity, G-Man. It was a great idea and you saw it through beautifully. Also thanks to the rest of the Sockys crew for helping him out when I had to leave by surprise.

I voted for you Rico. I also voted Triskadewhatever as best heist. No offense to Hailu, I just didn't know much about it since I didn't play.Ricochet wrote:I want to.Epignosis wrote:Or just be me, apparently.Ricochet wrote:I did.Epignosis wrote:No. Build games and host them later in the year.Ricochet wrote:*note to self: build games based on popular themes*

Being in the top 5 in the category (excluding people in voting ties that would have taken the finalist numbers past 5).Spacedaisy wrote:Hey Socky hosts? What qualified someone/thing as a finalist? Just curious.
Indeed, I cannot emphasize how much this community really means to me. You all are many of my closest friends, and I'm incredibly proud that the 'I'm going to start my own mafia site' vision that I developed in 2012 is still alive and burning now. It wouldn't be without all of you contributing epic games as hosts as well as incredible player performances. Thank you all so much for your continued contributions to this community, which really holds a special place in my life.Quin wrote:This.Sloonei wrote:Congrats to all the winners, and thank you to Everyone for contributing to an excellent community full of excellent mafia games.
Agreed, top notch work! I'm proud to have won a Socky this year so I could display this awesome banner in my sig now.JaggedJimmyJay wrote:Also, thanks Long Con for putting together these great banners. Awesome work as always.
I will never forget just how fucking floored I was when I found out you were mafia in that game. I was literally 100% confident you were town. It blew my mind for days. Lol. If Quin hadn't wiped the floor with town in Mad Max and more people paid attention to Heists, I think you might have pulled that win off for your performance in that game alone.Spacedaisy wrote:Ah cool. Makes me feel a liiiiiittle better about Lost Again 2 not winning best mafia win, lol. Seriously though, congrats to all! They were all well deserved wins! And thanks guys for hosting it this year!

No. I need someone to deflect attention from me for when I'm eventually bad.Epignosis wrote:You control sig?Sloonei wrote:I always get a little giddy when I get to update my sig.
Maybe you should program him better so he doesn't get lynched Day 1 so much.
Yes?Sloonei wrote:I always get a little giddy when I get to update my sig.
I just wanted you to know that I had a salad for lunch and pasta for dinner.sig wrote:Yes?Sloonei wrote:I always get a little giddy when I get to update my sig.
Also congrats everyone all the awards were well deserved.
Thanks for all the votes for funniest poster. But since Scotty beat me I'll have to dedicate the next year on TS to killing/lynching him.
Heists are definitely underappreciated. I'm a big fan of simplicity, which bigger games often don't do.MovingPictures07 wrote:I will never forget just how fucking floored I was when I found out you were mafia in that game. There were so many great baddie performances last year.
Heists have quickly become my new favorite game type, so I agree. It's a lot harder for mafia to hide since there are less players, but with a more quick game progression, it also can be tough to win as a town team as well. The games are just so tight too. Role madness games are always fun, but as a player I've found that nothing beats the simplicity of a three non-vanilla role limit. It's just that awesome core of mafia. I love Heists.Quin wrote:Heists are definitely underappreciated. Burglaries were definitely a success too! I'd love to participate in and see more of them in 2017. We definitely need more volunteer hosts. Burglaries can happen anytime, not just special occasions, so let's get these things rolling again. If you're reading this and want to host a burglary, talk about it in the Burglary hosting thread!
Seriously, the theme was a huge win in my view. I loved the interaction and the write-ups. Thanks for your work on those, G-Man.G-Man wrote:Glad everyone had fun. I apologize for the delays to write posts. About 1/3 of the time you were waiting I was trying to post but you guys wouldn't shut up in the thread!
Had I had an extra hour for prep, I could have pre-written some stuff to cut down the delay times and hashed out a plan to include the other Sockey organizers much more. Sorry for hijacking the awards show aspect. And thank you for jumping in when my daughter got sick. Thankfully it wasn't as heinous as what happened Thursday night. *shudders*
Dammit, I just realised. You didn't win best host at all.Epignosis wrote:Yes, well done team. You do better than the Academy Awards people.

Pasta though yum, bring me some I'm a poor college student.
I meant to, but between kid barf and no time to think between awards, it didn't happen.Golden wrote: Seriously, I thought G-Man was going to go all Moonlight at some point, but he never did.

I used an extra vote to create a tie, which gave us extra time, and caused a lot of confusion. It was one of the more stressful moments of mafia in recent memory. Also fun. In the old time mafia fun kind of ways.Long Con wrote:What did you do with your Mad Max role?LoRab wrote:Thanks y'all.
