Ok, assuming that Quin completes the Shooting Hoops leg of the Challenge... and Epi and notsawyer agree to go Option 1b and Option 2a... then that means either sig or MP07 can do the knot-untying.

How much time do we have left? I will take knot-untying and default one of those guys into leg 4 in my place, if they're not going to show in time. Just because the knot-untying looks like an interactive one that we CANNOT default a no-show to. I think a no-show can do leg 4.

Good job dude. Can you tell us about the water puzzle, for our curiosity?
Let's just say I consulted Die Hard 3. This one had more steps though.

We have exactly four hours.

Epi, are you on board with the leg 4 plan?

Host, will you default notsawyer to the leg 4 plan of option 1b, 2a, if he doesn't show back up? I think last time he was here, we weren't totally clear on the method, but I believe he'd agree.

So sig is a total no show, and MP dropped a breezy, "I'll be back to chat" without seeming to have read the challenge, right?

And LC, that does make sense now that I look at the knot untying task.

Okay, that was a lot of information that I haven't really absorbed. Sorry I wasn't around to discuss earlier, but it was a busy day.

Let me look at my rolecard again, and see if I can make sense as to what would be the preferred task of the remaining for me to try.

MP, you just need to bold the following:

"I will perform leg 1: Untying"

Then you need to get with Scotty and do it. We're counting on you. You have just over 2 hours left.

MP deftly maneuvers onto a perch with a bag of balls. With a snap of his fingers, the pieces fall out of the bag. He's a natural. LEG 1 IS COMPLETED.

Phase will end in a little over an hour.

Also a reminder to send me names in the next hour for potential BTSC during the night phase! I don't have very many.

Currently he is still tied to the willpower portions, but I will place him with the majority of Level 1 Option A and Level 2 Option B if no one else changes their decision.

Both team are currently racing to complete the relay in the 4th leg! Who will it be??

"Trying to Get My Brain Around the Instructions"
Image
After getting acclimated to each other and the gleefully working together, the tribe got to work on the place.

Quin tried to start a fire, but it failed. Bad luck, that.
LC attempted to build a shelter, but it was too complicated by himself. If only he had help. The team will have to work without a shelter tonight it seems.
Notsawyer and SVS went off to fetch water and came back with some!
Sorsha and Epi went fishing, but only found enough fish for themselves.

After a rather disheartening day, the tribe looked at the immunity challenge before them. At the same time, the other tribe, Mamana, showed up at the challenge beach.

"None of you pansies will stand in our way!" Screamed DH. Epi just scoffed. "You won't be standing when we're done with you." The crowd nodded their assent and sent out their best people for the tasks before them: Wilgy and MP facing off on untying the bag of balls. Both opened their bags easily. Wilgy then skittered off into the brush to play with a caterpillar.

Then came the Hoop Shooting. The girl trio of LoRab, OptOut and Elo step up with jerseys and attitude. All 3 took turns flinging heavy balls one after another into the hoop like it was a child homing in on presents during Christmas. High fiving all around, SVS stepped up with a bag of light balls and fired a metric shit ton back to back until there was one left. Quin came straight in with the last basket and looked back at Mamana as if he didn't just lift a ball eight times his weight.

The next leg was the Puzzle solving. DH and DFaraday, respectively, gave it their best. While DF settled down and had a small nap, DH ran into some roadblocks with the host under some sort of miscommunication. After a time, he then bowed out and asked someone else to try. Golden valiantly stepped in and solved it, ready to keep going.

And keep going he did. Right up along to the 4th challenge, where he ran alongside INH, speedchuck, and Boomslang exerting quite a lot of willpower. In the background, Epi, LC, notsawyer and Sorsha tried to keep up. But it seemed the hole that napping DF left was too long of a gap, and the other team was just firing on all of its cylinders.

Mamana wins immunity. Atamai, I got nothing for ya.
It is now Night 1. See you at tribal, where you will vote out a player from your tribe.

Night 1 ends in 23 hours at midnight, EST.

I think Tribal is something different to just voting now, no? If not, I'll vote in the morning. It'll probably go to sig.

I'll be away for the next two days, so while I'll be able to check in on my phone I'll only really be here if there's a challenge or something.

I'll be away for the next two days, so while I'll be able to check in on my phone I'll only really be here if there's a challenge or something.
We have to PM Scotty who we want to vote out tonight. So it's supposed to be secret I guess but it's pretty obvious who should go today I think.

Yeah, this.

Also lets all try to check in more often next time, I think we lost a lot of time waiting for people to come back to the thread.

I have played a Survivor themed game before, and while the set up was both similar and different in ways from this, my guess is that human nature is the same. The tribe that is in the majority when the tribes merge is going to almost certainly vote the minority tribe members off in preference to their own given an equal participation scenario. So we don't want to go into that situation from a position of weakness.

Dammit.

I apologize for my inactivity. It's going to be hard for me to be around much, frankly, just due to how busy I am right now, which is why I didn't sign up for this originally. I'll at least try to pop in during five or ten-minute bursts throughout the day going forward though; I think that's doable.

So, what did everyone *do* today?

Quin - tried to start a fire, and failed
sig
notsawyer540 - got water
DFaraday
S~V~S - got water
Long Con - built shelter... shelter incomplete, requires more than one builder.
Epignosis - fished, got food for one
MovingPictures07
Sorsha - fished, got food for one

What did sig, DFaraday, and MovingPictures07 choose?
Quin tried to start a fire, but it failed. Bad luck, that.
LC attempted to build a shelter, but it was too complicated by himself. If only he had help. The team will have to work without a shelter tonight it seems.
Notsawyer and SVS went off to fetch water and came back with some!
Sorsha and Epi went fishing, but only found enough fish for themselves.
I don't know what fire does, perhaps it helps with having more energy. Like, warmer, restful sleep or something.

I don't know what shelter does, maybe energy as well.

The water situation seems optimistic, but there's no real indication of how much water they got. Enough for the whole tribe for one day? Is a two-person water trek necessary each day? Can we store water across days?

So everyone is hungry except for Epi and Sorsha. If choosing to fish always results in food for one, then we all have to fish every day, and we'll die of thirst. I believe the food situation has to change. Maybe walking around the Island will yield some mangoes or something.

Eight of us left. Two on shelter, two on fire, three on fishing, one on water? That is one way to go.

I am thinking Scotty is using a randomizer of some kind, or a dicing program, to determine how much of what happens. Like how many of my shots went it, or how much food was gathered, how much success in tasks, etc.

I would think that people who need to eat should get food, since the water thing did not say we only had enough water for ourselves.

Since food is not as much of an issue for me, I might wait a day and perhaps explore. Since napping during challenges seems to have a detrimental effect (unless that bit about Faraday being behind due to his napping was just flavor?). Or maybe get back to that shelter or fire. Maybe Sorsha and Epi who ate should work on the shelter?
