Haha, I doubt it, but that's a good thought. Would it be me, you, Quin, and my bro then? Is anyone else interested and around?

I know a lot of those super-pros with ratings north of 1900 or so tend to love the Huns. The wood saved in the Dark Age without needing houses goes a long way toward fast-Castling, and they can obliterate anyone with their cavalry. They're not as good a civilization for a migration map though.

We all were. The map we randomized into was "migration", wherein each player begins with a very small island of limited resources. In the middle of the map there is a larger continent rich in resources, and typically players would have to battle over that territory to survive.

Like I said, I never played as the Huns. Trying to find your fucking "house" button when you've never played as them before makes for a difficult early game when you've been away for so long and think you're going crazy or something's wrong with the game.

Protip for anyone who isn't already aware:

All units in Age of Empires are designed for specific combat situations and are favorable against different foes. For almost every unit there is at least one counter-unit, designed to perform well in that engagement. The counter-unit for all melee cavalry (the scout like and knight line) is the spearman line at the barracks. Spearmen still have some difficulty against knights (Feudal vs. Castle), but they're much more effective than militia-line units. Epignosis used this against me when I landed three knights on his island (he countered with spears).

To make this easier to view, I'll make a quick table:

Image

*edit: I forgot to include camel units. They are quite effective against all cavalry, but little else.

If it's unclear what I mean by "line", I mean the full upgrade tree from a starting point:

Militia-line = militia, man-at-arms, long swordsman, two-handed swordsman, champion
Spearmen-line = spearman, pikeman, halberdier
Archer-line = archer, crossbowman, arbalest
Skirmisher-line = skirmisher, elite skirmisher, imperial skimisher (only available with recent expansion)
Heavy cavalry line = knight, cavalier, paladin
Light cavalry line = scout, light cavalry, hussar
Ranged cavalry line = cavalry archer, heavy cavalry archer
Camel line = camel, heavy camel, imperial camel (recent expansion only)
Castle line = civilization unique unit, elite version
Mangonel line = mangonel, onager, siege onager
Battering ram line = battering ram, capped ram, siege ram
Scorpion line = scorpion, heavy scorpion
Galley line = galley, war galley, galleon
Fire ship line = fire raft (recent expansion only), fire ship, fast fire ship
Demolition ship line = demolition raft (recent expansion only), demolition ship, heavy demolition ship
Cannon galleon line = cannon galleon, elite cannon galleon

Then of course there are monks. I find them extremely difficult to play with, but with some civilizations (especially the Spanish) they are the most powerful units period.

I played a game with an AI Spanish team last week. They didn't even have an army, just a hundred monks.

There's a good chance. Tag me again when the time comes. If folks prefer we can do co-op, or I can go on my own. I don't mean to sound super conceited; I just don't want the game to be shitty for anyone.

I'd be fine with co-op or all vs. Jay depending on how many folks we get.
