What is your good news?

My good news is that I have wine. And also I don't have to cook dinner tonight. And also I'm down to my last two smokes.

Now that I'm starting to feel slightly less stuffed up and I can smell and taste again - I'm jumping back into the e-cig with full force! Tonight's flavors are blueberry and vanilla mint and chocolate orange.

Also - this forum is VERY good news. It's absolutely beautiful Socky - it feels like just yesterday you were talking about thinking about doing this and now it's a reality.

It will be even better once our talented graphics buddy creates a banner for it. He had done some amazing work on a skin that we could just never get uploaded appropriately to any of the forums we tried using except that one that was not good for mafia gaming. Which is a bummer. But I am sure Bri will make a kick ass banner for us because he is awesome like that. :)

Glad to hear you are feeling better Bea! And I look forward to seeing future announcements regarding accomplishments on that quitting smoking thing.

Once you got used to playing with the code, changing backgrounds, themes and banners is not too hard. It is uploading things lke poll improvements and post display mods that can be grief.

I look forward to the banner :)

It would be nice if down the road we were able to figure out how to use the rapids he had created for a skin/theme because let me tell you, it was freaking awesome!

My friends and I are making an anthology short film composed entirely of absurd Gardetto's commercials, and it's turning out to be more entertaining than anything we've ever done, and it's still going along smoothly, in addition to being tons of fun.

I'll be sure to when it's done, which honestly might be a while because we keep throwing new stuff in and my choir friends plan to film in NY on their trip there spring break. I may be able to edit a trailer of what we have though soon though.

I'm guessing something meaty and potatoey - that's what I'd want after an accomplishment like that. And some booze. maybe?

I recommend a drfunken night for our Socky. YOU HAVE EARNED IT - go out enjoy! Drink! Eat! Be Merry!!!! :D

My good news is that last Friday I had an interview for my dream job (an Associate Director position at the law school from which I graduated). It was THREE HOURS long, so that has to be good right? It was also the third interview I had for this position.

I just got a phone call earlier that I am still in the running so we shall see. It will involve some travel in the fall semester (recruitment at colleges), so I am stoked about getting to travel to see my out-of-state buddies.

So very, very true.

Tonight some lady was speaking really rudely to one of my staff. I was so proud of how she held it together though and did not go off on that woman. I probably would have lost it on her and then it would have landed in customer service's lap, lol.

Also, there were a lot of shoplifters in my store tonight. :sigh:

I HAVE GOOD NEWS!!!

(I'm sorry for the cross posting that many of you will see with this)

I got my finger printing done today!!!!!

Now all I have to do is wait two weeks for the money to send with the sub application and wait on the finger printing verification (It's going through - the only slip that could happen is if something is wrong with the actual prints - if that happens, UPS will do them again for free.)

And then I WILL HAVE MY SUBSTITUTE TEACHING LICENSE!!! (and it's good for like 6 years so I have plenty of time to find out what I need to find out to be re certified to teach and plenty of time to figure out where I would want to teach.)

I can't tell you how happy I am right now. It feels VERY good to be moving forward toward my goals. :D

Congratulations bea!

Welcome to the loony bin. :solitary:

I subbed back when I was 19. I'll never forget my first day. It was in a special ed class in a middle school. There were three teachers for this class, and two of them were out. So the special ed class had two subs, me, and this old guy.

While the old guy is teaching (he got history, I wound up with science), I was standing over a child's shoulder helping him read. The old guy looks up, scowling. "Young man, sit down!"

Me being 19 and all, I did as the guy said. Only I sat down at the teacher's desk.

"Young man," he bellowed. "Is that where you normally sit?"

"Well sir," says I, "No it isn't because it's my first day here."

I had kind of a rotten week. Nothing major went down or anything, but just getting kinda bummed about job prospects, etc. so this might seem silly but it was a big deal to me.

Well this morning in yoga, the yogini pointing me out for doing a perfect Warrior II! There's so much to think about in this pose - back leg straight, front knee bent but not to far, hands in the right position, posture in alignment, and I've found it trying for the last 13 years I've done yoga (I started roughly when I moved to college).

And today, the yoga instructor said "Look at this girl, she's doing a textbook perfect Warrior II!" I thought I was going to cry.

YES

Congratulations! I know how you feel about jobs and general malaise. I've been in and out of that state for the last ten years. It's all terribly trying. My advice is to try to live in the moment and practice mindfulness, as the Buddhists say. I need to start meditating again. It does wonders for that.

Credits on the right, debits on the left, the bookkeeping is off by a penny so we have to do the job again, JK Lasser, Schedule C, Standard and Poor, payroll is due by Thursday, assets and liabilities, capital gains, the earned income tax credit (EITC), amortization schedules, why hasn't anyone made any more damn coffee after drinking the last cup, favorable variance, first in first out (FIFO), individual retirement account, liquid assets ("cash" is just too simple a term), overhead application rate, recapitalization, Security and Exchange Commission, taxable municipal bonds, and April 15.

Congratulations.

Logan!!! That's fantastic!!!!

My good news is that I've got the day off. :D My sweetie has to work an open/close today and I feel bad for him. (He even offered to let me have a 3rd kitten if I went to work for him. Poor thing.) So, I'm said I don't get to spend the day with him, but but I have a whole day off to myself and that's pretty sweet too. I plan on doing.........a whole lot of nothing. I was up for an hour before I worked up the energy to make coffee. I'm now in coffee and netflix documentary heaven. :D I mayormaynot get dressed and do some light grocery shopping. (I have a fantasy of dropping off my sweetie something nice and nummy while he is working....) then it's right back to my jammies till it's bedtime. :D

I bought a new mic today. This one, with a shock mount:

Image

This beauty retails at $249.99. Guitar Center is having a microphone sale right now, so it was marked down to $179.99. Our particular Guitar Center for some reason had it marked down to $99.99. I had two $25 gift certificates from my in-laws.

I just bought a brand new $250 condenser microphone and shock mount for $50. :slick:
