Captain's Orders
Spoiler: show
Game Mechanics
12 players - 9 vs. 3
1. Days will last 48 hours. Nights will last 24 hours. The thread will remain open during Night phases.
2. All votes will be changeable and must be cast in the poll to count. It is encouraged that you also state your votes in the thread for clarity's sake.
3. All game discussion must take place in the thread unless the captain has permitted you to have BTSC.
4. Lynch ties will be decided randomly.
5. "No Lynch" will be a viable poll option.
6. All roles are randomly assigned.
7. All members of the winning faction are winners, regardless of their status at the end of the game.

Behavior/Rules
1. Be respectful and remember that this is a game. Although mafia is a game of deception and can be rather heated, recognize that the game is not personal and that your friends may be lying to you in the spirit of the game. Please treat your fellow players with respect, even if you suspect or strongly disagree with them. If you are upset or in conflict with other player(s), don't be disrespectful to them and derail the game, instead contact the Game Facilitator, Epignosis.
2. No BTSC (Behind the Scenes Contact/Conversation) with anyone other than your specified BTSC partners.
3. No editing or deleting of posts.
4. Role claiming or outing is allowed.
5. No self-voting.
6. Dead players should post in dead red font and refrain from on-topic discussion.
7. Off-topic chatter should be in OT green.
8. Posts from non-players should be in NP blue, and should also not be on-topic.
9. This is Cap'n Sloonbeard's host color. Anyone who uses it will be forced to swab the poopdeck. (If it's too bright I can adjust it to something darker)
10. Have fun and remember why we're all here: the plunder derelict ships on the high seas and amass booty (Roleplay is heavily encouraged).

Participation:
I have no specific or strict rules about participation, but I do reserve the right to replace any inactive players if necessary. If you signed up for the game, I expect you to participate to the best of your abilities and availability. If you are struggling to keep up, I understand and can sympathize.

Game Facilitator
The Facilitator for this game is Epignosis. Please PM him with any greivances or concerns you may have at any time, notably including conflicts with other players. Keep the thread fun and clean of emotionally-charged drama or conflicts; PM Epignosis instead. He is there for any of your questions or concerns not strictly related to game or role mechanics. We want to keep this game as fun as possible for everyone. Thanks!

Prologue:

Ahoy mateys! I am Cap’n Sloonbeard, and welcome aboard me ship, the Black Sock. I’ve selected you lot because you’re the heartiest crew on all the seven seas! And because you volunteered. You all know why you’re here: to make as much booty as you can get your filthy pirate hands on! Our destination is the wreckage of the S.S. Marmot, said to hold the finest haul in all the Syndicate Empire! We set sail at sunrise, so say your farewells to solid land and get your salty hearts ready for the adventure of a lifetime. Arrr!

Day 0:

Morale was high when we set sail, but it seems a few of ye have turned sour on ol' Cap'n Sloonbeard! I've heard reports of a mutiny in the works among some of you scoundrels who I have graciously welcomed aboard me luxurious vessel. I'm not one for speeches, so I'll keep it short: a whole chest of booty to any man, woman, or parrot who can bring me the names of any of the mutineeers. Those who be deemed guilty shall walk the plank. Arrr!

Day 0 has begun. This phase is just meant to help you all get yer sea legs under you, but yer permitted to hunt for mutineers if you so choose in this time.
Day 1 will begin in roughly 24 hours.

As a fresh, green pirate, I chose the hat as I still have both me legs and both me eyes and the internet won't be invented for a few centuries yet. I look forward to finding the scurvy dogs trying to undermine our courageous captain and the tossing them into the drink. Ahoy!

All hands hoay! This ship's 'bout to set sail again! Don't want to see no landlubbers round these parts, everyone be carrying their weight round here or they be shark bait!

Hat. Obviously.

Peg leg and eyepatch are a sign of what you've lost, but a fancy hat is a sign of wealth and status.

Tequila really sucks 4/10 wouldn't recommend.

Second Hey! Lets get this lynch train started. :srsnod:

I think we should eye people who are to heavy on the role play, it could be used to avoid scumhunting/be left alive out of amusement. However, that shouldn't be the only reason to lynch someone.

Day 1
Rise and shine, landlubbers! This your Captain speaking! The Black Sock doesn't make its fortune by sleeping the day away. We've all got a mutiny to halt before those scoundrels take me beloved ship from under me. So hoist the sails and get to work, sing a shanty and keep one good eye out for any shady dealings that go on on me ship. Shadier than the usual, I mean. Yarr.

It is now Day 1. The deadline for Day 1 will be 6 PM EST on Wednesday, the 1st. Remember that all votes must be cast in the poll to officially count.

Arr, ye scurvy curs. Ye best be countin' yer blessin's that yer little venture here doesn't include that Crusader of the Caribbean, the Antagonist of the Azores, the Instigator of the Indian Ocean, the Plunderer of the Pacific Islands, and the Bastard of the Barbary Coast, yer good Captain G-Man.

Yo ho, me hearties, yer lucky indeed, for it was I who, in one of me first ever outings of these sort, did sell out me villainous teammates in an attempted exchange for parlay. I've sailed many seas and stolen many a ship since those days but don't let yerself be fooled into thinking old Captain G-Man's gone soft now. I've got mermaid blood in me veins and I'd tie you by yer ankles to the mizzenmast before ye'd even have a chance to yelp for yer mothers. I've been known to rip out the tongues of any man or woman that crosses and use them to scrub the poop deck.

Keep watchin' that horizon and be grateful yer voyage doesn't cross paths with me. Yar!

I think the fact that sig came into the thread and threw this out there makes him look good — even if it would have been a more ideal strategy for him to wait and see who does this and use it as the basis for scumhunting. Specifically, I would say this kind of blatant speculation is more typical of early town behavior than not.

Looking back, I’m not sure what to make of this post. I came to the same conclusion as Quin did here, but I don’t feel like Quin does anything with it. It’s like Quin just made an observation but didn’t use it as the basis for developing a read on sig.

Screw it, I’m moving my vote to Quin. What’s on your mind?

I would also like to emphasize that I am just as eager to hear from LC and if I had two votes to cast as pressure right now the second would still be on him.

Come on, fellow pirates, let’s get this hunting going. The scallywag landlubbers aren’t going to out themselves!

Hm I don't regret making that post early honestly waiting In an attempt to catch someone would mean I put to much thought into it and like I said it isn't really a good tried and true reason to lynch someone.

I find quins comment interesting but not suspicious, and I am 100% against voting no lynch, now i wouldn't say if you support a no lynch your a mafia member, but I'd be very wary of anyone who pushes a no lynch, especially syndicate oldies since it isn't really a part of your culture.

Linki: I hate dogs, my gameplay is more like a cats :P
Buuuut if you force me to pick I'd say I'd be like a mutt or something idk dogs are gross

I've been told literally in-game that I am comparable to a dog that pees all over the thread, so my answer is whatever breed is most likely to do that (I don't know much about dogs, other than the poodles my parents had growing up, and they did pee in house on occasion, so maybe that). :p

I am intrigued as to the purpose of your inquiry, but I'll see where you're going with this.

1 little, 2 little, 3 little MP posts
4 little, 5 little, 6 little MP posts

Actually, a no lynch gives town some time to get free info if there is an info role. Quick math:

No lynch:
D1: 10 players
D2: 9 Players
D3: 7 Players
D4: 5 Players
D5: 3 Players (LYLO if 1 scum)
D6: Scum overrun if we get here and game isn't over.

Lynch on D1:
D1: 10 Players
D2: 8 Players
D3: 6 Players
D4: 4 Players (MYLO if one scum)
D5: 2 Players Scum overrun if we get here and game isn't over.

So in each case, ignoring D1 on the no-lynch side, town gets the same number of days to try and lynch the scummers. No matter how many scum there are. For every scum, take off a day's worth o' time. See how it works? An' the No Lynch D1 gives townies more info on their allotted lynch days.

HOWEVER!

This only works perfect if'n we got no doctors, vigs, or scumblockers. So I'm more inclined to lynch a scallywag on the bright and early day.
Long Con, what say ye ta that?

Shiver me timbers if'n I ain't about to throw a vote on me swabbie Dunya, fer the brine'd do 'im good I reckon!

linki: I am a cat. I swat at people until they respond, and then run away.
I kid. I have no idea what my gameplay style is. I've been told it's analytical, with a lot of chewing over motive and vote placement.

I have a habit of tunneling on sig because he sets off my alarms too easily. I wasn't going to go down that path 5 hours into Day 0. As far as I'm concerned its NAI.

I'm not "going anywhere" with this. This isn't like a "he said Schnauzer! lynch him!" thing. I want to gain behavioral context and dog breeds are an easy way to get people to be thoughtful and honest with their answers (and also I like dogs a lot).

It's already helped a bit.
