Glad I could help take some heat off Quin.

For the record, I put Quin as about null so far. Just because I disagree with a case against someone and am slightly suspicious of one of the accusers doesn't mean I have a reason to read Quin as town so far.

I guess I kinda do have some reason because he seems genuine and I buy his defense. I just expect bad Quin to make the exact same defense.

I do feel a tad silly for not clicking the link. I was gonna get to it. Bravo did actually stick out to me as a unique voice on Day 1 (I was lynched Day 1) and I remembered Bravo being bad in the end. If you had been anyone else, the question would have been worthless but knowing you were Bravo without clicking the link is a tad helpful.

Hello lapluie, I am Marmot.

Sloonei, could you tell me your mafia experience pls.
I uh got my start playing on RYM about 7 years ago, then migrated here in 2015, taking up permanent residence with the death of RYM's OT board. Two years ago I was a finalist in MafiaUniverse's Tournament of Champions and I've been a part of many games here on the Syndicate.

Right? This is the main reason I'm not moved by any case on Quin.

The worst I can say about him is that he's tone pinging me a little earlier than usual. The accusations of genuinely trying to read people on Day 0? Weak.

I'm actually okay with Mac (old buddy old pal let me pocket you eh?) doing it cause I think it fits Mac's style but I don't see where Jimmy is coming from. I guess Jimmy is a at-the-wall thrower in the vein of Sloonei and MP but with his self imposed restriction, the weak case on Quin becomes a large part of Jimmy's content and paints him in a bad light. Hard to not be disappointed but the important part is if the root cause of Jimmy's overall posting being disappointing because he's not giving the 110% I'm used to or because he's bad.

I expect every post to contain a read. I expect every sentence to contain a read. I expect every letter to contain a read. I expect every phoneme to contain a read. I expect unique reads to be generated by the trillions during each minuscule neural interaction within the brain.

I don't really ask for that much.

I can be moved by cases. I'm a sucker for lengthy cases on people I don't have a firm read on. Hence previous game musings about my failings in distinguishing bad townie play from actual baddies.

I like being contrary, though. Hence, sticking my neck out to fight Day 0/Day 1 cases against people, sometimes leading to accusations of buddying. (This is separate from accusations of buddying Mac. That's just cause I was very amused by Mac in a previous game and I want us to be pals. :nicenod: And also because I want to take advantage of his rep for finding scum on gut and assist with his seeming inability to pursue those gut reads to their logical conclusions. Low sample size may be causing me to misevaluate both skills in Mac. We'll see.)

@Newplayers, feel free to ignore my selfcentered musings. I do this a lot. I'm town so you don't need to try to figure out what I'm talking about.

I'm afraid we're just not close enough for my subconscious mind to be driven so specifically by the actions of Jackofhearts2005, in full disguise, and I think about 8 living Kilo posts. In that game, I saw a player doing very little who could be smeared, and I capitalized. I'm so sorry, everyone. I'd totally forgotten I'd signed up for this as I haven't been here in a while. It's wonderful (so far) being back here with you all and it looks like an amazing game. I see we're already at 11 pages so I guess what I'm pleading for is:
A) your patience and understanding as I try to catch up and immerse myself in this game and
B) A clue about how you respond to someone by quoting their post. Somebody asked me a question and when I reply a name keeps appearing and when I press 'Return' it inserts some bizarre stuff in the middle of my post - sorry, again, I've not played since the redesign of the site. Thank Ye :)

Hi Glorfindel!

That’s the tagging function at work. It happens when you quote a post that features an @ tag. If you find that “@“ in the quoted material an delete in, that will stop happening. :)

Thank you Jay! As always, you are a scholar and a gentleman

Well ... after that catch up I find myself relatively concerned by Jimmy. I feel Jack is playing very sincerely and am not buying that Jimmy genuinely feels that Jack is bad.

Interesting. I was going to actually ask you for your opinion but you have given it anyway.

Why?

He's oozing with sincerity, there's emotion in his dialogue with Jack that I don't think would be there if he was bad, and his self-imposed post cap is something he could easily milk if he drew a scum role. Instead he seems to be struggling against it. Not to mention the alignment of his thoughts with mine in more than one place.

@ MacDougall

@ TonyStarkPrime

could you each briefly summarize your past mafia playing history? How long have you been playing for? What site are you from? Have you played on the syndicate before? If no, are there any players in this game you have prior experience playing with?
Hi, Kyle :) In answer to your questions:
  • I've been playing Mafia games for coming up four years (I think)
I've played on a number of sites but most recently here and Mafia Universe
Yes, you can see from my profile that I've been here at The Syndicate for just over two years (where I think I've become a legend for all the WRONG reasons :haha:
I've played with almost everyone here unless they're very new and I feel quite excited to be back playing with them.
And you're forgiven for not understanding the significance of what I'm about to say here, but

        Yes, I AM Town!

PS. Previewing this post I can see that I've screwed up my bullet-pointing - I'm afraid you guys are going to have to cut me some serious slack while I try to work out how the hell to find my way around this place...

I acknowledge that some portion of my suspicions of both Quin and Jack reflects their treatment of me. That invites personal bias. So y'all who disagree by all means talk about it.

This is why I [try to] kill Sloonei and MP when I'm bad. They know how I work.

I should also point out that in all the time I've played here at The Syndicate, I've never won a game as either alignment and that reflects my playing history elsewhere. Guess I'm generally crap and I don't expect that to change this game - just so you know... :haha:

Your second reason is terrible. JJJ would struggle against that limit regardless.

. . . is this actually a thing he does, like, for religious or meta reasons? Because that's awesome. And a bit of a handicap as scum.

It has given him trouble before. I think he would sooner adopt a "never claim an alignment in any game at all" strategy or just not play than compromise his values. He's town.

I understand his reasoning, even if it's not a tenet I follow. Games are an abstraction, and morally, I treat them as such.

But I respect the heck out of that. And I believe him.
