DAY 0

Hat Kid, new employee of Dead Bird Studios, arrives on the train as it is in transit... somehow. She alights on the rear car, ready for business.

"Welcome, back Lassie!" a weird, yellow, toothy owl says in a heavy scottish accent. This is the Conductor, a famous, award-winning, foul mouthed movie producer. Hat Kid's Employer. "I haven't written the script for me next movie yet, so we're not recording! I'll call for yer when the script is ready."

Hat Kid shrugs, and heads into the rear car of the train to explore.

DAY 0 HAS BEGUN! 10 or so Minutes till D1 begins!

Role PMs should be out. PM me if you have any questions about roles, or if you didn't get one.

DAY 0.2

Hat Kid encounters several black birds in trench coats and fedoras. "Why, hello there, fellow owl," the first says, even though he clearly is not an owl, and neither is Hat Kid. "I don't believe we've had the pleasure of meeting? As you can tell, I am also an Express Owl. I do much hooting."

Hat girl remains silent, as she usually does, taking in this suspicious figure's halting speech.

"From one owl to another, we can share details, yes? What is your uncle's sister's maiden name?"

Hat Kid gives a totally bogus answer, and tries to move on.

"Oh, it is SKDANGFO?" the black totally-an-express-owl says. "I see, I see. This is the kind of uncle's sister's maiden name I would expect from a fellow Express Owl."

Hat Kid rolls her eyes, and again tries to tear herself away. This time, the black bird does not follow. But his friends do.

"Do you care about security? You shouldn't tell information to strangers. I can help you be more secure! What is your favorite combination of letters and numbers?"
"Did you know that pets can have pets? If you had a pet, what would the name of your pet's pet?"
"Can you decifer this scientific formula for me?"
"If you were a superhero, what would your name be, if entered in an online form with standardized account ID requirements?"

Hat Kid weathered the storm, hoping for the Conductor to finish his script soon.

Hah linkis don't work here.

Day One

As Hat Kid explores the train, she hears a phone ringing. It's one of those old fashioned phones, with a two separate pieces for hearing and speaking. Ah, how anachronistic. Fitting, for a western movie set. But why is there a phone on the train, and how does it work?

No matter. Hat Kid is curious enough to answer, and this is what she hears.

"Is this the kid with the hat?" A distorted voice asks through the phone. "I hope you like my present... he he he. Go to the back of the train. Your uncle's sister SKDANGFO has come to visit you. You better show your fam' some love, or I'll be talking to a corpse next time."

*CLICK*

Hat Kid could not count the number of ways that the phone call had confused her, but she decided to head to the back of the train and see who this SKDANGFO fellow was.

. . .

Amid musical cues, the horror is revealed. An express owl lies slain, steak knife thrust through his back. A pool of suspiciously-brown liquid seeps out from the body, staining the floor. Oh, the horror!

And by the body stands a nice old lady, painted on a wooden board. She stands unassuming, her face frozen in a nervous but sweet smile.

The Conductor's scottish accent pierces the quiet.

"A-a-a-a MURDER?" he stutters. "On MY Owl Express!?"

Owls gather about at his call, taking in the body with aghast and nervous looks.

"I can't believe someone would murder one of the Express Owls!" he cries. "And I can't believe even more that it's yer uncle's sister SKDANGFO!" The odd bird turns to the painted lady. "What do yer have to say for yerself, SPDANGFO?"

The lady doesn't response. Hat Kid begins to regret muttering something random when asked about her uncle's sister's maiden name.

"Yer givin' me the quiet treatment, eh? That's what a murderer would do!" The Conductor babbles, stressing and rolling his r's until he resembled an engine motor rather than a human being.

"Leave this case to us." On the other side of the room, previously out of sight of the movie cameras, stood a flock of those black birds from earlier. "We're CAW," the leader says, "the Crow Agent Watch. We'll be searching the entire train for evidence. No one is allowed to go outside of this wagon."

"WHAT!?" The conductor yelled. "I can't even walk around in me own train!? How dare yer!"

The crows pay him no mind, mentioning assurances and gathering scant evidence into a makeshift trial. Hat Kid eyes the crows with distrust, and begins to gather her own evidence and discuss it with the express owls, the Conductor, and the other passengers. She has a hat for every occasion, and today she would need the hats of a diplomat and a detective. Surely the killer was in the room, and they could work things out where they stood.

Day 1 has begun! You have 20 minutes to find the killer. Day ends at 2:33 EST.

Yeah, linkitis was turned off for the Burglary subforum because it would hinder most people from being able to post given the quick nature of the game.

Not much time in each phase I feel like mafia is more likely to make mistakes with less time to think on things and plot.
