Round 5 - BAFTA

AND THE SHOW IS STARTING IN MERE HOURS!

Mongoose, DharmaHelper, JaggedJimmyJay, Raz_Zaa

Mongoose (25) - 1917 (9), Once Upon A Time in Hollywood (10), Judy (3), Taron Egerton (1), Laura Dern (1), Awkwafina (1)
JaggedJimmyJay (11) - The Irishman (9), Scarlett Johansson (2)
DH (8) - Parasite (4), Knives Out (1), A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood (1), Saoirse Ronan (1), Renee Zellwegger (1)
Timmer (22) - Rocketman (4), The Farewell (1), Marriage Story (5), Jojo Rabbit (6), Charlize Theron (1), Leonardo DiCaprio (1), Adam Driver (1), Johnathan Pryce (1), Anthony Hopkins (1), Al Pacino (1)
Raz_Zaa (3) - The Lion King (1), Joaquin Phoenix (1), Tom Hanks (1)

Raz_Zaa needs to find 5 points to move on to the big final round...

(Tiebreak rules: In the case of a tie during any round, a winner must be determined between the tying studios. To settle this, the points each studio acquired in nominations will be removed. That means which ever studio earned the most points based solely on wins will advance. If this process does not determine a winner then a hierarchy of wins will be established, where a studio with the rights to the winning film in this succession of categories will move on: Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay (Original then Adapted), Best Lead Actress then Actor, Best Supporting Actress then Actor, Animated, Foreign, Documentary, Score, Cinematography, Editing, Song, Production Design, Costumes, Makeup, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing. (Note that the hierarchy is for film rights, not actor rights.))

Since to tie DH, Raz needs 5 more pts and DH needs zero, a tie would actually mean Raz moves on, not DH, since Raz would have more points from wins. So Raz can get 4 more points if Joaquin Phoenix wins best actor, or Tom Hanks best supporting, and 1 pt if Lion King wins its category.

Massive improvement from my shitshow last year. Now just gotta hope I land a decent draft spot. Much harder to get a good grasp of the field for 2020, though I will try closer to draft time and see if I can pull together a strategy

We need to find more players, tbh, we can't keep running this with only 3 active players.

I think I take Lead Actress, Foriegn Film, and possibly Screenplay, to finish in 3rd place.

*IF* I can pull Director, that'd be cool. If I can get Best Film and win, that'd be even more cool

I mean... the BP and BD wins alone give you 13 more points, you very well may have, I won't have time to make an official count util later today... I know I got 4 for screenplay for JoJo and that's it atm... fuck it, I'll start counting, lol...

I've been watching this game, and when I was watching the show last night, I kept coming in here every time Parasite won a big category to double check.

That would be a great victory for you if you do win, DH. Good Luck!

Honestly, nights like last night are what we love this game... what a historic win! Congrats DH! But... I won't run this again unless we can find a few more active players, it's a lot of work for me for just 3 of us, lol... even Mongoose has never checked in since the draft.

Thanks for putting these last two seasons together man, that was fun. I totally get it if you don't end up running it again.

I really Moneyballed it this season, after losing my first go around I dialed and I'm glad my strateg(ies) paied off.

PM me on Facebook if you do do it again and I'm not around, if someone helps me through the draft like I'm a two year old, I would totally do this. It was fun to watch.

Congrats DH!

Nice work, DH. You earned it. Mongoose, you're a rookie legend! Both of you prevented timmer from steamrolling again, which is honestly what I most expected. You had another great showing yourself though, timothy.

I'll take consecutive Oscars round appearances I suppose. :noble:

Perhaps if we can convince other regulars that this is extremely simple, we could inspire more activity. S~V~S would be a super addition.

Alternatively if we don't get a viable amount of players we could do an office pool style game instead of a Fantasy Football style game. Might be easier to keep track of.
