It has everything to do with how much time I have.

People keep saying, "Ah, Epignosis is quieter than usual." It means I'm busy. It means I can't read the thread at work. It means a hundred other things.

I also had a role that had an extra vote and was easily discerned, and so I knew I would be found out eventually (just as I had when I was bad and my vote counted as three in Breaking Bad).

Shooting me was foolish. Let me be lynched if I am to be removed, and if I could not be lynched, shoot me then. That move was a bad one.

People trying to figure me out on the basis of how much I'm posting is also foolish.
I try to read you based on subtle tells from reading your past Mafia games. Hasn't worked yet but I figure it's the best/only way.

I hate to do it. Did you see that late replacement I made in Image Mafia? I probably broke the clause I wrote myself to avoid a modkill just to put Jack in the game in the last day.

I advise careful analysis and common sense when doing it. Take your time, look for replacements, try to minimize damage.

But sometimes the game is just so full of zombies you gotta light up a flamethrower and get rid of them. It's life.

They deal with a single person who goes inactive every game. They don't deal with someone who plays 10 games in a row and flakes the 11th one because of real life. But when that happens, we still need to minimize their damage on the game.

I wish people did a lot of things but they don't. Inactivity is part of the game, like it or not.

Also I know I'm mafia but I'm trying to be objective. Even then this two for one would have benefitted the civs imo. It's higher than the normal bad/civ rate, and it only removes vote power from the baddies.

In a game-deciding scenario, an actively-posting player is going to vote. A player who cannot be judged by anything other than a random number generator (by virtue of not posting) is already screwing up the game.

If you put a lot of energy in a game and people sign up and don't play, that's bullshit.

I usually do the opposite thing actually. Don't care about votes, only posts.

One of the best civ players I know likes to not vote on purpose in early days. Not sure if it's a good idea but he swears by it.

But imo the problem with people not posting is that nobody can read them. It turns the game into slot machine.

I agree, DDL. Those three being modkilled would have been pro-civilian. Hell, even if just the two civilians had been modkilled it would have been pro-civilian. They don't bolster the civ numbers while alive if they never vote, and their absence allows someone else to be lynched who played the game.

I agree, but it just doesn't happen. Games get delayed and people get busy before they start. People miscalculate activity. required. Games explode in posts and they can't catch up. They get sick. They get extra work. They stop being active in the site and nobody can find them to ask them to come.

Alright just got home. Sorry Jay for backstabbing you </3 .

This was actually a blast being my first game getting scum in my life. I got to talk and get to know Mac and DDL especially (and Quin a little bit too) and they're wonderful people.
Mac was instrumental in my survival through the first half of the game especially, using his town credit to brush aside any mention of me being scum.
I would like to thank DDL and Mac for their guidance regarding role usage. Many times I struggled with who to target bc I was unfamiliar with people's playstyles over several games, and wasn't always confident in my usage of abiltiies.
That being said, I also want to thank them for not babying me - it really helped me develop as a player and learn how to look at the game from an angle besides my own.

Additionally, thanks to Quin for doing a great job hosting, making sure he was accessible in his busy life, and for setting up such a fun game

Thanks to everyone else who played as well, everyone helped me develop and learn as a player over the course of this game, and I am very grateful <3

Supposed you have 7 players.

3 are good townies, 2 are inactive townies and 2 are mafia.

Modkilling the 2 inactive townies puts you at lylo. Not modkilling the 2 inactive townies puts you at lylo.

So what modkilling does is mean you play a game of 3 townies vs 2 mafia, which is significantly more fun than a game of 3 townies, 2 mafia and 2 inactives that you have no real way to confirm as town and who won't be voting.



Suppose you have 3 players.

1 is a good townie, 1 is an inactive townie and 1 is an inactive scum. Scumkill is randomized.

I think it is more fun to say the town won by lynching all active scum than to have a game of mafia (that may have lasted a month or two) come down to a coin flip.



This is not to say that the mafia won because of inactive townies. However, the game would have been more fun if several players had been modkilled halfway through.
