This game is a semi-open setup. The roles listed below appear in the game in some capacity. The list is not comprehensive. Players may or may not necessarily have additional abilities beyond those listed.

It is ILLEGAL to claim a role publicly in this game at any time, under any circumstances. Likewise it is ILLEGAL to reveal publicly the results of any role abilities you possess.

This may be unusual for some of you -- we understand. This is a Syndicate tradition of sorts, though it does not apply to all of our games. Sloonei and I have made every effort to bring the game as close to a balance as we can. Because of this rule, the game may feel a lot like a mountainous game despite the fact that it is nothing of the sort. Consider it a new challenge if you haven't played this way before.

Refer to the spoiler below for a basic description of these roles. If you have any questions at all about roles or anything else related to the game, please direct them to Sloonei and I PRIVATELY. Thank you for doing so. This helps us to avoid unnecessary host influence upon the proceedings.


Note: While it is illegal to claim roles and role information, you may still claim your character if you so desire -- just do not reveal the precise flavor in your role card verbatim or anywhere near verbatim (we all know better than to engage in shitty angleshooting). Characters are randomized and have no connection to role abilities. You can even role play if you like.

Additional Rules and Notes:

1. The most important rule is to always remember that we are playing a game together on an Internet forum. Be kind and considerate as you are also being competitive, and be mindful of how your words might be received by others beyond the scope of a Mafia game. We are here to have fun and celebrate the camaraderie of the Mafia community across the Internet. Personal attacks are unacceptable, even in heated moments of competition when emotions are hot. Also refer to The Syndicate's rules and guidelines forum.

2. Do not engage in behind the scenes chat (BTSC) with other player(s) unless your role gives you the explicit right to do so.

3. You may not edit or delete any posts in the game thread.

4. You may target yourself with night actions unless otherwise stated.

5. You may target the same player on consecutive nights unless otherwise stated.

6. [mention]speedchuck[/mention] will be serving as this game's facilitator/moderator on duty. If at any point you become frustrated, irritated, upset, enraged, or anything similar, please send speedchuck a PM. He will happy to talk through it with you. This includes any instances in which you might be upset with me as your host.

7. If you're dead, then please do not post anything remotely on-topic in the game thread. If you want to make an entirely off-hand and off-topic comment, use this dead-read color. Please do not abuse this privilege by posting frequently. You're dead. We're lax about this because whatever, just use your judgment. If either host feels this guideline has been violated, we may elect to punish the guilty corpse's faction.

8. The same goes for non-players, who should use this non-player-blue color. Keep it entirely off-topic.

9. Votes can be changed at will. YOU MUST CALL ALL VOTES IN THE GAME THREAD WITH THE VOTE TAG AS WELL AS VOTE IN THE POLL AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE. See the "Navigating the site" guide in the fourth post if you're not sure how to do this.

10. Day phases will last approximately 48 hours and night phases will last approximately 24 hours. I will adhere to this as strictly as possible, but if life forces me to make adjustments then I will do so.

11. All roles will be revealed to the degree I deem appropriate when players are either lynched or killed.

12. I will use this font. You can use it too if you want. Sloonei may choose a color of his own as well. Just don't impersonate the hosts.

Is there a way to change the forum skin/colors to something lighter?

Yes. We have a white skin available. Follow the images in the spoiler to make the switch if you so desire. Be aware that this will move user avatars and information to the right side of the screen.


Why do I keep getting logged out?

This seems to happen sometimes for folks who frequently use their mobile phones. It can occur when the phone swaps between wi-fi and data. If you log in and indicate that you want the log-in remembered under both conditions, you'll be less likely to encounter this problem.

How do I vote?

First, you'll need to call your vote in the thread (see spoiler above). Note in the rules that this is required. You'll also need to place your vote in the lynch poll at the top of the page; this will be the official tally.

How can I track votes?

Because the poll order does not reflect chronological order, you'll need to use called votes in the thread. We have implemented a method which makes them easier to find in a search. Simply CTRL+F or search in your browser for the word "aubergine". This is attached to every called vote in very small letters. See below:

How can I access ISOs?

If you wish to view a player's posts in isolation, there are two easy methods. First, you can simply click the link underneath their avatar. See the spoiler below for an example. Alternatively, you can visit the first post of the game thread where I will be adding ISO links for every player. There is no capacity, at least easily managed, to ISO multiple players together.


How can I multi-quote?

There is a limited capacity for multi-quote. Within the full text box, you may access the 50 most recent posts in the game and compile multiple quotes at once. See the spoiler.
