The new James Bond theme song:
Personally I find it too bland for my tastes. It took a while for the theme from "Skyfall" to grow on me, so maybe this one will be the same way. It's hard to make out some of what Sam Smith is singing when he goes into his high-end falsetto range. I'll need to listen to it a few more times but it just feels too slow and somber. Not at all what I would expect from a James Bond theme. It doesn't seem to set the right tone for an action-spy film.

Joanna Newsom - Waltz of the 101st Lightborne
She's my favorite lyricist and her new album is right on part with the previous 3. Incredibly consistent.

Today I am listening to Led Zeppelin's albums in reverse order. I started with In Through the Out Door (I don't really count Coda as a true Zeppelin album since it's just a hodgepodge of previously unreleased tracks). Right now I'm almost done with Houses of the Holy. "The Ocean" just started. Good stuff.

I have a hard time deciding if my favorite Zeppelin song is "Achilles' Last Stand" or "The Rain Song."

Chapter 3 of my journalism textbook starts out with this:
"Facts are simple and facts are straight
Facts are lazy and facts are late
Facts all come with points of view
Facts don't do what I want them to"

Both of those would probably be in my top 10 if I were to sit down a hash out such a list. It's a hard choice to make because I love most of Zeppelin's albums in their entirety but off the top of my head, I have to go with "When the Levee Breaks." The song itself is not terribly complex in nature and there's a lot of production trickery behind the final product but it's the song that got me hooked on Zeppelin.
I grew up listening to their songs on classic rock radio but really got into exploring music when I was in college. I worked in the college library and got into early blues music, especially pre-World War 2 Delta blues. My sophomore year roommate was a Music Recording Technology major and had me listen to "When the Levee Breaks" on vinyl through high quality stereo system and a pair of $500 headphones he used for his studio work. My mind was blown and I spent the next two weeks listening to nothing but Led Zeppelin's albums.
It may seem like a passe choice but it was an influential moment for me expanding my musical tastes.

Going back to my childhood year today and listening to every Weezer album in order of release (omitting Death to False Metal because it's just a collection of studio leftovers). Years ago, I burned the Blue Album and Pinkerton onto one CD. I love the transition between "Only In Dreams" and "Tired of Sex". Pinkerton is such a unique album because it's unlike everything else Weezer did in their career.
Weezer had a string of weak albums (Make Believe, Red, Raditude, Hurley) but if you take best tracks off of those CDs, you can make a pretty solid, albeit all over the place, Weezer album. Their most recent album was pretty good and they have another one coming out this spring. I'll try to listen to the singles from the new album (another self-titled album) at the end of the day if I have time.

Today I'm listening to Louis Armstrong's legendary The Complete Hot Five and Hot Seven Recordings.
Does music really get any better? No, it does not.

"When the Levee Breaks" was my first breakthrough Zeppelin exposure as well. Great song, even though I haven't listened to them in a while.
I'd join you guys in this thread more often, but my computer takes several minutes to load all the youtube videos (and there's not a site mechanic to turn those off).
But one thing I've noticed, if you put youtube videos in spoiler tags, they don't load until you open the spoiler tag, making the thread as a whole quicker to load.
