Deck Fighters (Gauging Interest)

I'm gauging interest because to run this i'd need a sub forum in the non-mafia games section as each match requires a new thread. So i need support to show the moderators that this game is worth opening a sub forum for.

Deck Fighters is forum based strategy card fighting game played by two players in a singles match, where the loser is the one that runs out of Health Points (HP) and the winner is the player that forces the other player run down their HP to zero, becoming the last fighter standing.

My vision is to create a vast amount of moves, specials and fighters that we can play to defeat the opponent and that anyone can referee the match.
This means a system where everyone can see what's available and build their decks accordingly, and based on that someone can monitor and referee the match. I'm also open to fighter card ideas and moves.

The Basics

To play, the contestants have to select a fighter card and submit a deck of up to 50 cards (this amount in not set in stone yet), that the referee then will randomized the order in which each contestant can draw and use them in a match.

There are five types of cards.

A) The Fighter Cards
B) The Stat Cards
C) The Moves cards
D) The Special Cards
E) The Nemesis Cards

The Fighter Card comes with a cool cartoonish art and stats information.

The stats displayed in the Fighter Card are the maximum that each stat can reach for that specific fighter.

Each fighter also comes with their unique ability, displayed bellow the fighter's name.
Image
The stat cards are the key to unlock move, special and nemesis cards that your fighter can perform, without them, you are a sitting duck ready to be slaughtered.

If able, you can play one stat card per round, these cards do stack until the limit displayed in the fighter card is reached.

The Stat Cards are the following

The moves cards are those that you use to deal damage to your opponent and make their HP go down to zero.
There are several kinds that i have planned but to summarize, there are defensive moves and attacking moves.

You can now view them all by joining the discord server where they are hosted by clicking here.

Each player can play a move card per round, this is in addition to being able to play a stat card in the same round as well and a special.

DMG stands for the damage it deals and the stat under it, is the type and the amount of that stat the fighter card needs to perform that move.

The Special Cards

Players will be able to play a special card at the same time a stat and a move card are played, although some specials can only be played once per match and some may not be played while others are in play.

The Nemesis Cards

The Nemesis Cards are the strongest set of moves each Fighter Card has. These are specific moves that only a fighter card can play, in other games they are known as “Finishers”.

Brief Summary

The game is turn based. Pre-game, the challenger starts a thread and challenges another player by tagging them to invite them to play a match, followed by the tag of a known referee.

If the challenged player accepts, both players submit a deck of 51 cards (privately or over discord), including the Fighter Card, to the referee PRIVATELY as follows:

1 Fighter Card
5 Starting cards
45 Deck Cards

You may add five copies of any Move, Special and Nemesis cards in your deck!
You may add any number of stat cards in your deck.

The referee will randomize the order of the deck cards (just the names of the cards not the actual cards) and submit them to their respective players, then post the rules (rules can vary from match to match) for the game including the win condition.

The referee sets a starting time and a deadline to finish the match.

Once the match starts, the challenger starts first. If the opponent does not have a card to play then the round ends and the challenger keeps their turn to play again in round 2. If the opponent has card to play to counter the attack, they may play it ending the challenger's turn. Then the next round the opponent may play a card and so on.

Match moderator aka Referees, will keep track of HP, stats played and count downs (yes rounds will have timers to avoid one match taking months to complete).

Referees will also randomize your deck and give you the next two cards every time a new round starts. Referees will also prod you and if a player goes over the deadline, the referee will pass the turn to the opponent to keep the match going.

That's the basics of the game.

The game is played in 40 rounds, if players reach 40 rounds without a knock out, a tap out or a pinned down, it is therefore called as a "draw".
When a player performs an attack and the opponent defends or not, that is called a round.
Every round, whether you hold the turn or not, you will automatically draw 2 cards from your deck to your hand.

For Example, It's Guillo's turn to attack Ircher, he plays a stat and a move card, Ircher then defends with another card successfully, that completes round 1 and Ircher seizes the turn from Guillo.

Another example, Guillo play a stat card and hit "pass", that completes round 1 and Ircher gets the turn.

The challenger always starts off the match, this is also called as having the turn and the opponent has to try to get a hold of the turn to be able to attack the challenger.

When a game starts the attacker has the following options:

Play one stat card.

Play one special card.

Play one move card

Swap a number of cards in their hand: When you do this, you send the amount of cards from your hand to the tail of your deck in exchange for the next cards in the deck, equal to the amount you temporarily ditched to your deck. When you perform this option, you pass the turn.

Pass the turn

Pin the opponent (player must be floored).

And the defender has the following options:

Play one stat card
Play one move card
Pass turn

When a move connects, it deals damage that is subtracted from the Fighter's card HP. When the HP reaches zero! They are knocked out, losing the game.

When a submission move connects, it deals damage as well but the victim will sustain less damage every round until it deals zero damage, at this point the submission hold is released and the attacker loses their turn. However if the attacker ditches a card from their hand while they hold their submission, the damage is not reduced per turn, if the HP reaches zero while the submission move is on hold, the victim taps out, losing the match.

When a player is stunned and wounded they get floored, the opponent may attempt a pin down with 70% chance of winning by pin fall, regardless of difference in their HPs. So a player with 20 HP could stun and wound a player with more HP and still have a chance to win by pin fall.
--------------------------------------------------

Stats and Momentum

In order to perform moves, players have to play stat cards to unlock their use, the type and amount of stats are indicated in the move and special cards.

However there are cards that require MOMENTUM stats. One momentum is gained when you successfully land one attack after another one and so on until your chain of attacks are stopped by the opponent.

If for example Guillo hits Ircher three times in a row, Guillo gains 3 Momentum.

However, Momentum is lost the same way when you are attacked!

If for example, Guillo has 3 Momentum but Ircher attacks him three times in a row, Guillo loses all three momentum and Ircher gains 3 Momentum.

Why Is This Important?

Because all submission moves and all moves that deal 12 or more damage require THREE MOMENTUM on top of the required stats!
And Nemesis cards can only be used if you meet their require momentum quota!

YAAAAAAH! SEE?

See the icon in the bottom right corner? Those are the warnings!

If you accumulate 5 WARNINGS, you lose by Disqualification.

Your specials may be removed by your opponent from play if, you are stunned or if they spend 1 Momentum while having their turn.

Removing specials count as having used a special.

You can only use a special card per round while you hold the turn at the time, unless stated otherwise.
------------------------------------------------------

"STUN", "WOUNDED", "FLOORED" and "OUT OF THE RING" EXPLAINED

Stun

When you are stunned, you cannot do anything besides passing the turn. You cannot play any card, you cannot attempt a pinfall or get out of the ring (or get in the ring).

Wound

When you are wounded, you lose 2 HP per round. There are no cards that cure the "Wound" status.

Floored

When you are floored, you can only play specials, stat and in certain special occasions, Nemesis cards. If you pass the turn or lose the round, the opponent is no longer floored.

Out Of The Ring

When you leave the ring or are thrown off the ring, you get 1 warning for every round you remain there and all moves deal +3 damage.
Questions & Answers
Can floored players counter moves?

There is a way, but a player that is floored, if hit again, becomes "unfloored" unless hit by a takedown move or a move card combined with a floor special.

What about if hit with a stunning move while floored?

Then it remains floored.

What are Defensive Cards?

Defensive cards counter the moves indicated in the description but if successful, the attacker retains the turn. Defensive cards dont remove stun or wounded statuses from you. But it unfloors you.
