Ture.

And speaking of Mondi, I noticed you have abandoned your beautiful avi. :overreact:

Well, I'll be on vacation here in not too long, so I'll go ahead and vote just in case. I wouldn't want to miss the deadline after all of this time, lol.

Gleam and borokkuei still haven't shown up at all. I guess I'll vote borokkuei of the two because he's won a game and gleam hasn't. Lol. No idea how else to decide it and I refuse to "randomize".

Sorry, borokkuei (unless you're baddie), but it's all I have for now.

I'm going to vote for the other quiet guy, Gleam.

I know I'm voting a day early, but 1) with three weeks between votes, voting one day early is hardly early and 2) Mondays are manic and having three weeks to vote and then forgetting to vote in the 11th hour would make me nearly inconsolable and despondent.

Llama did you strictly randomize the role?

If not, I sincerely doubt that any of the quiet people are the single baddie.

The roles were completely randomized.

Well, the role, lol. The rest of us are cannon fodder :)

But, OK, thanks for answering, I was not sure if I would have answered that question since it is either true or it is not, its a very black and white thing. So since the roles ARE randomized for sure, then anyone could be the role. Had you cherry picked, it would be very unlikely that a known low poster would have the role knowing how you feel about that.

Ah, but in minimalism mafia, all the rules are different. :)

Even in Minimalism, maybe even especially in Minimalism, factual things are true or they are not.

So Thanks for a direct answer to a direct question :)

Is it possible there is actually not even a baddie? You could have not cast one and added a secret civ role instead.

Not having a baddie would be revolutionary. That would truly be minimalist.

The roles list one role with a power, its a killer. A baddie.

Watch this space.

Welcome to Minimalism Mafia, the game where less is more!

Roles:
Civvies:
Philip Glass - Can do nothing.
Steve Reich - Can do nothing.
Terry Riley - Can do nothing.
Alvin Lucier - Can do nothing.
John Adams - Can do nothing.
La Monte Young - Can do nothing.
Tony Conrad - Can do nothing.
Robert Ashley - Can do nothing.
Gavin Bryars - Can do nothing.
Pauline Oliveros - Can do nothing.
Harold Budd - Can do nothing.
Meredith Monk - Can do nothing.

Mafia:
John Cage - Kills nightly and can silence one player each night.

Oh I know a killer is listed, I think it would be very ingenious to list a killer but then not "cast" the role. Then you could have a secret civ role and still have 13 players. It would be the ultimate Gaslight Mafia Event.

No, it would be a chat thread with no smoking guns or true suspicion, that would eventually degenerate into pointless finger pointing and hostility.

This whole line of discussion makes me OK with my vote tbh.

I don't think Llama actually did that, just musing how good of a prank (?) that would be if the whole game sometime was a farce.

But it looks like I broke the cardinal rule of Mafia: Do not joke about mafia.

I would definitely want to do that if I were to host a mafia game, it would be fun to see what evidence people use to lynch each other despite the fact that there aren't even baddies.

No, but it did not seem like a joke to me, tbh. I always thought the first rule of mafia was "No Editing", or maybe "No Double Targeting".

And it WOULD be funny for the host, AP, sometimes when you're hosting you just howl, lol, it can be really funny watching the erroneous suppositions players make. But i think that would be less than funny for the players, and while laughing at the players is fun sometimes, having them tell you, "Oooo your game was awesome", and seeing them really getting into it is much more fun :srsnod:

I always throw out crazy, zany theories though. Nearly got me lynched in Strongbad game, but I was superfun civ girl in that. Luckily, that gameplay style is not without its merits...

It's already time? -.O

Well, gleam and borok both have no posts so far (I'm trusting MP on that, because I don't have the patience to go through and check everyone into a spreadsheet).
I said I'd vote for the low-poster, and I'm voting for Gleam because Borok already has a vote and I don't want to bandwagon without specific suspicions.

Crap, he has a vote already too. -.-

I'll randomize between them - tails, so I'm actually voting for Borok.

I'm with the Sock on this one. I'm not even sure either Gleam or Borok have been on the site these past few weeks, but since Gleam keeps getting voted off during the first days, I'm going with Borok.

Yeah, I really didn't want Gleam to get voted off either, since yeah, he does get voted out early a lot on this site, so I am breathing a sign of relief you guys went with Borok.

Today I got a red velvet latte from Dunkin' donuts. It was not minimally good, it was maximally excellent.

I am wearing my bear totem animal necklace today. I also have a rabbit necklace and a bee necklace. I, however, do not have a mongoose necklace as they do not exist.

Do wombats have pouches? Marsupials are basically the mammal version of a hoodie.

Minimalism: Game Over

John Cage, in true minimalist fashion, sat quietly doing nothing for the better part of a month, before his fellow composers calmly smothered him to death with a pillow. His superior understanding of the nature of the game helped him not one iota.

Through a plate glass window, a forlorn llama could be seen, a tear glistening in his eye as he pondered the utter folly of his failed experiment. This made the Llama Gambit look positively insightful and the Apollo Doctrine seem eminently sensible. All of the planning for clever contests, educational articles and samples of mesmerizing music and video, to be distributed at a steady pace over the course of the following year, had been for naught.

Thank you for playing minimalism mafia.

I was hoping for a record settingly long game of mafia, but I find it funny how given even worse odds than normal we somehow manage to win in a single lynch.

A couple of contests I had in store were:
Write a six word short story, inspired by Hemingway's apocryphal effort
Create a minimalist painting
and
Don't Shoot the Puppy

Popping on here for just a few minutes, but wow, how hilarious!! Who would have thought we'd catch the lone baddie right away?

And how ironic that this is the first game I've ever won on this site. Lol. Awesome!

Oh no! I did forget to vote :(. MP, you led a baddie lynch! And the odds were 1 in 13! That should restore some of your confidence.

And llama, I enjoyed the brief introduction to minimalism, something with which I had no previous experience at all. And your post ending the game was top 2 in my favorite wrap-up posts of all time.

I would feel bad accepting the banner, since I did nothing, but since in doing nothing I followed the spirit of the game, I may wear it anyway. Thanks everyone!
